How important is music in the workplace?, Does it helps to increase, job performance?, I strongly believe it does, and actually, I can´t work confortably without listening to music as I do it. I work on my own, so, very often, I am working until late at night, and, if not for music, it would be very boring, and I think that, listening to the right type of music, I can do a better job. What do you think?. Even, if not working in our own bussiness, I think that most of people do a better performance when in a comfortable environment, and music, is an important ingredient of this.

It depends on the music itself.
If you're at work it has to be relaxing or a tune that will make you focused... as opposed to a song that has deep sad meanings to you.
I personally don't see anything wrong with it

Of course, music should be chosen carefuly, depending on the situation and the mood you are in, or you are looking for.

music at work is disturbing. Work as if you are listening to music and listen to music as if you are doing a piece of job. Please do not take it personally!

I find depending on the type of music that it uplifts the mood while working. If you notice while grocery and retail shopping you will always hear music in the background. I have taken online surveys where they get the opinions of businesses with music and I have to agree that at times while working under stress that it sort of diverts the mind for a while.

Well, yes, depending on the mood, there is a type of music that fits better than other, it also depends on the work you are doing, that a certain music will help you to concentrate, while other, will distract you instead

hi albto,
I quite agree with you, music can relax and help people be in a good mood. I still stay at the same office just because it allows me to follow my inclinationsly when i want to listen to music. Music plays a great role in making a relax environment for us. I think there is difficult for me to find a job like this, i mean, listen to music.. Although i don't like this job actually, i tend to work here for a long time until i find a new one. HAPPY MYLOTTING!

Music, any type of music, has an effect in the mood of people, even when we are not aware of it, it should be chosen carefully, but, I think that it is important to focus and release mind from external thoughts

i like your idea about music and increasing job performance albto. During our night shifts in our workplace, when it is very silent and we are busy doing our task, we would always turn on our radio and listen to music. This helps us to stay awake and be energized. Sometimes we will sing because the songs are familiar. If the music is upbeat we have observed it is very energizing.

Hi, yes, I understand what you say, sometimes I work until late, and without music, it would be simply imposible to concentrate, or even to stay awake, music fills the spirit, and, as you say, it energize me.

music has alreay become a BIG part of my life. ever since i was studying, i had to have music playing while studying and now that i am working, i also have to have music so i can work better, concentrate more, and feel relaxed. i think music can really soothe me and makes me feel more relaxed. of course, it has to be played at a volume that would not disturb others as not all people like music playing while they're working.

When I was working long hours in front of a computer screen, I found my iPod invaluable. It stopped me from getting bored. Music helps set a pace and I listened to audiobooks too. I think employers sometimes worry that music is too much of a distraction, but when I had mine to use at work, I had the highest productivity of my team. I think it depends on the job you are doing and knowing when it is and is not appropriate.

Music should be soothing and comfortingto our work atmosphere. It does not have to interrupt it. Music can motivate and console us. why should it not be so in our jobs?

hi there,
I agree on that as well.I can stay at work for hours as long as I don't get bored and one thing that keeps me going is the presence of music. But sometimes, music are not allowed at workplace especially if you are in the field customer service where you get to talk with different people. but as you said, it is indeed an important ingredient to better one's performance.

I believe music in the workplace is important since it stimulates the mind and helps keep you focused and motivated. Think of it this way, what happens when you are in a room full of silence? Does it make you frustrated, bored, sleepy? Music is a form of communication through the art of expression.
