I'm really disappointed with Firefox 4 , its even worst than firefox 3, i open lots of tabs at a time(Click PTC ads) but i noticed that the whole browser hangs momentarily and again gets proper, this problem was less in firefox 3. it also happens when i open other website and i checked the resource consumption and m shocked. it takes about 340 Mb ram even when i have only opened two tabs . I like the new internet explorer 9, even though its initial launch time is more but then its smooth sailing, it wont hang while browsing and it consumes only 30 - 40 mb ram and if multiple tabs are open a bit more but very less compared to firefox 4.
Has anyone faced the same problem in firefox 4 or is it only me .
I'm reverting back to firefox 3.
Thanks...

I just downloaded FF4 last Wednesday and the first few hours of using it, yeah, tabs momentarily hang. But now, everything go smoothly. I like the personalize tab thing. It has cute themes. (:

Hi marcjaysonc,
clearing cookies will not effect the browser performance ,where as clearing cache might make some difference.
visit the link below and you will find that firefox 4 has serious memory leak problem, that's why it hangs very often and consumes lot of memory.

below is browser benchmarking website , i did benchmarking for ie9 and Scored:
3103 Points
http://clients.futuremark.com/peacekeeper/scan-java.action
I ran benchmarking for firefox and sadly it never finished, it hanged every time i ran the test, hopefully you will be able to do the benchmark on your browser.
And according to 2011 browser review IE9 is the best browser when it comes to speed, using H/W accelaration.

I never liked Firefox, but I was using it for the Clixsense Toolbar and the Zynga Toolbar for Facebook games. Now that I cut down on the FB games and that Clixsense Toolbar is now available for Chrome, I switched back to using Chrome for everything. I actually stopped Firefox 4 because Clixsense toolbar was not supported (not sure if it is now).
I like Chrome and I think I will continue using it. I will have to try IE9 to see how it performs.
