Is Mylot run by greed?

Social networking sites are massive at the moment but what makes Mylot different over the rest? Is it the payment option that makes it attractive over the others or is it the fact that it is smaller and less of a buissness motovated giant that FB seems to come across as these days. What makes Mylot better than the rest? I have been here an hour and already i can sense a comunity feeling.....and that can not be a bad thing.

Hi ajk and a warm welcome to myLot! Gosh this is about the best discussion forum I have participated with thus far and suspect that it will continue it's long running sustainability. It has been around from what I understand April 2006. There is a difference though with Social Networking forums and myLot. Here at myLot quality is an absolute must and we only earn to participate. Unless a member who starts a discussion respond back to the responses the member will not earn. So a bit of a difference from perhaps question answer sites, it is truly unique and it uniqueness is what makes this community pretty fun. So how did you stumble on myLot?

Greed for what? Fun maybe? It is the only place that pays us to have fun doing almost anything that we please to do and that has to be high up in the list of reasons for it being online and paying for so long! Welcome aboard!

Stick around and you too will be , myLot is truly a fun place. Try if at all possible to add a bit more content, because one-liners will not earn on myLot.

Although MyLot has some 'social networking' facilities, it is specifically and primarily a discussion forum. This sets it apart from many fairly similar sites (such as Yahoo Answers) because it demands a specific discipline and higher quality than many such forums. It is also quite unique in its complex and sophisticated payment algorithm which not only ensures that quality is rewarded appropriately but also that, whatever MyLot's profit in a month, a relevant proportion can be allotted to pay the members. In other words, it has an excellent and viable business model. MyLot cannot really be compared with Facebook. Its function as a discussion site will naturally tend to limit its appeal, in the long run, to those who understand and appreciate the art of discussion. People who treat it as a 'question and answer' site or, worse, as a different kind of 'Facebook' are ultimately bound to be somewhat disappointed.

Facebook has its uses (I was dragged into it rather by my family, I have to say). I do enjoy keeping up with quite a few MyLot friends there, especially a few who, for one reason or another, no longer post so often here. I regard them as having different functions.

myLot is run by addiction in my opinion. Addiction of us people who so love to be here, discussing and doing all sort of things permitted here. Maybe it was greed from my part which made me join this site, but from the first day onwards I see only one thing: so much fun here! Population was quite less that time, but as more people come more is the chance to interact. Don't think anyone will get disappointed. Or should I? What makes it different...? Never been to any other forum. Joined FB much time later than this one. And that too never interested me, except for when I was 'rearing' my sister's puppy on Farmville. It was fun I confess!

@mysd I know you were not. Yes, I was a farmer too, but enjoyed it only when I worked in others' forms. Especially my sister's. Mine was too boring. I don't know many on myLot who are/were. But I know Mr. owl and maybe he sings too while farming...

myLot is certainly not run by greed , I can't see it happening that way , not that direction , no no. But I admire how they manage to work out their business plan paying members each month without fail .. for those who've reached payout , that is. Yes , there's a great community feeling that other sites don't quite have. You'll be addicted in no time.

The payment does help, upto a certain point. Some of the members would not be here if it's not for the earnings, in my opinion. For me, it definitely is a community where we share our problems and discuss how best to tackle them, and have fun in between that as well. Stick around ajk, I'm sure you will love it here. Happy Lotting.

myLot is like any other place online or in the real world. You will get out if it what you put in. There are good very real relationships to be had here and there are others that never do more than drop by and day hello. The owners of this site run it as a business because that is what it is. But it is the members that give it soul. Enjoy your time here and Happy myLotting.

I wouldn't say that greed has much to do with it. Most members, if not all, are here mostly for fun. Yes, we do earn a few dollars, but we're really earning to have fun.

I really like MyLot because of the variety of discussions we can participate in. Anywhere from relationships to earning online to techie stuff, it's so interesting! At first I came here to earn money, but when I got deeper into the community part, I've gotten stuff off my chest, found answers to my questions, and found out which sites are turning scam. It's very good at resources, or starters in resourcing, anyway. People are friendly here, no complaints in my end. Glad you enjoy it here. Best of luck! :-)

Hi dear, Welcome to myLot. It is not just a community feeling and there is much more over here. If you observe still more closer, here the people have a great attachment than just a friendship. I am here just for one year or so and have a great deal of understanding on various subjects and come to know more people differently on different aspects. I have gone through similar other various sites having similar nature. Even facebook is so popular in this area. There also, such major advantages are missing what we have here. I think the unity in diversity has much importance here and in making such a great team of people, myLot has its own importance. Attachment and closeness among people, even though they are not personally not known for years, when we meet here in myLot it seems that we all have many years of companionship. When you stick on here for some more time, all these facts will directly come to know and I think you will experience in the near future. Best regards, Thank-s

FB has gone way off of its original mission, which seemed to be 'to get to know people without actually meeting them' or something MyLot's original purpose is to host discussions; they also host pictures, quizzes and links to blogs & to games (and a lot more I'm not thinking of), but members' focusing on the discussion-purpose keeps myLot focused on that purpose. With FB's unlimited user-base, you're bound to get some who DON'T focus on 'getting to know people'; and since they don't have a 'trial-period' like myLot does (during which myLot-ers either adapt to the right purpose or quit), the wrong focuses go on unabated and eventually turn the FB-admin the wrong way.

It is designed with making a profit in mind but it's pretty marginal as there are better ways to make money online though more work. From a philosophical standpoint you could argue that all actions are greedy. It's more of a message forum that a social network. That being said it provides a nice board that isn't full of spam and trolling like some other boards and provides a good range of topics.

Let's face it. A lot of members are here because of the payment option which, for me, is a good thing. It's a good venue for me to post queries because I know there's a greater chance people will respond with sensible information or advice, unlike other networking sites. I am also new here and I hope to share many things and learn from the others as well. :)

I've been a member of myLot for 6 years now and i never did once feel that the owner or admin of this site is greedy. this is not a social networking site and is definitely different from Facebook. This site is a sincere discussion posting site, where members benefit from participating.

No, myLot is not a bad thing at all. What makes myLot attractive is that you'll find lots of friendly and helpful myLotters here such as mysdianait, hardworkinggurl and owlwings. I must say that I've learnt a lot from them and that's what makes it fun. What I regretted most is for not signing up for myLot the first I was invited by a friend a few years back. Have a nice day!

i have only been a my lot user for a few days but i am very pleased with the site. i look forward to posting every day, partly because of the payments but also because i get a sense of community also. the owners of the site seem to be very cooperative and friendly- genuinely nice people.
