Dear mylotter friends Some time I faced many difficulties to understand my friend or new mylotter discussion but I want to reply it. In that case what I should do ask that person by message please I cant understand your topic or leave the discussion no answer on it. Because last month my 3 answer are deleted by mylot to say your answer is not related to topic. So I helpless on that time. I think I faced this problems because I am an Indian and my English is also not high. You faced this problem any time or not and what you will do in that time share your valuable views

I am also one of the many members here that follow what the guidelines say, "If you don’t know how to respond to a discussion, go on to the next one." Don't push your self, there are more discussions you can go with and hopefully, there are lots of them that you could understand and that you can give your best response. Good luck...

Hi surekharathi I am from India too and yes, I too have such problems. But over time, I have found two ways out - 1. Try to use a dictionary (you can use a software called wordweb or also any online dictionary) to get to know the meaning of the word(s) or even 2. respond to the discussion and mention - that you could not understand the complete thing but from what you understood, you are replying. Many of our MyLotter friends are great people and would explain the discussion. Using the PM is good no doubt but there is only one problem - you have to be a freind with the starter of the discussion. If you are not, then you will ahve to wait till s/he approves the friend request. Hope this helps.

Oh surekharathi no need to apologize for something that perhaps is not clear. If you are interested in the discussion you can say, I am not sure of what you discussion consists and wondered if you can clarify. There is nothing wrong with asking for clarification. I have many myLot Indian dear friends who I at times do not like to overlook their discussions so I have posted in response that it interests me to learn about your discussion if you would be kind to explain. I have learn so many different customs this way because many of my myLot Indian friends have been very accommodating. I have also received same type of responses from my myLot Indian friends asking me to clarify and it has made for long furthering of the discussion where both of us gain knowledge. So don't feel bad as for the deletions surekharathi, your email alert from myLot should say why. Sometimes a topic is deleted so it causes our responses to be deleted. What did your email alerts say and maybe I can help you further.

I think if you don't understand questions, you should try and look and read some of the responses. That way you might get some idea of what the question is about. I do the same. I read some responses and get some ideas. But if sometimes I don't get what it is, I don't put anything in the discussion. Hope that helped

Hello. I understand your predicament. I'd say I admire you for trying to help your friends and sharing what you think is necessary and could be valuable. However, sometimes the language barrier is a very tough thing to ignore... If you do not understand the topic or discussion, you can either ignore it, or if you really insist of understanding it, you can ask the poster for further clarification. If it is not much of a bother to you, you can translate it to your native tongue since all of the discussions here are posted in English. Maybe, if they are translated to the language familiar to you, you can have a clear idea of what the discussion is all about. Don't give up. Keep on trying. You'll be fine.

Hello friend, We are many non English speakers at myLot, and there is no shame to misunderstand a discussion. You can ask a precision to the starter, and he/she will help you. Your responses can be deleted if somebody report them. It is an accident, but I am sure that your English will improve like mine has improved at myLot. Error is human and we learn with our errors : it is called experience.

Hi surekharathi, I agree with all the members who responded here. Don't hesitate to ask if you don't fully understand. That is what makes a discussion. If the discussion starter is your friend, you can ask in pm, if that makes you feel more comfortable. My English is not great either, and there are lots of other members who are not speaking English as first language. Even those who use English as their first language are not perfect either. My point is, there is no shame in asking.

surekharathi as a true testament, although English is my primary language I and others at times do not understand some of the discussions my myLot Indian friends post and as zralte and suny know I have often asked for a little clarification and they happily clarify for me too. So absolutely nothing wrong in asking because many like my dear friends here are always willing to help. It makes for a happier myLot stay because we learn from one another. suny has been educating me a great deal with a great many of Indian traditions and has sent me holiday cards which I so appreciate because it makes for a great myLot family here.

Hi! You can comment by writing a recap of the topic and re-confirm if you understood it right. Even in verbal communication, people do not understand each other, so there's no harm asking if you got the message right. I'm sure the one who posted the topic will explain to you for you to be able to participate. Cheers!

Don't be in a hurry to have a lot of topics to be done, this is not a contest of how many have your response and how many is your started, it is the quality of what we are saying in myLot.
