I found a place to practice jogging - front yard

I have registered for a marathon, which is held in mid April. As a full-time mother, I am taking care of a 2-year-old son, and it's a bit difficult for me to go to the park and exercise. Finally, I found a place to practice - my front yard.
Actually just now my son requested to play in the front yard, and I was playing the ball with him. After awhile, he was tired, then I just started to jog. I am thinking, if I jog for 20 minutes at least every alternate day, then I should be able to finish 11km within 2 hour in the marathon. I think this is good, as it's not only good for my health, my son can also have fun and exercise at the same time.
Do you jog consistently? Where do you usually jog?

just remember that 20 minutes of jogging isn't the same as straight running for a few hours - maybe you can pile him into a stroller and take long walks with him, maybe even jog a bit on nice smooth places, that will help build endurance...

Yeah, I know jogging for 20 minutes is not enough, and I might not have the stamina to run for hours. But at least I have some practice, then I won't feel too difficult for the marathon. My son doesn't sit in the stroller, he always like to run by himself in the park.
Thanks for your response. ^_^

Jogging in the yard has been for me a regular ritual for years now. That is the best place as one need not have to dodge traffic, dogs and pedestrians that one meets if one were to jog on roads and going to jogging parks would entail getting ready which is time consuming.

I don't jog cause it is too hard on my knees. I do like to walk a lot. I enjoy it and it provides good exercise and helps my blood pressure as well as it gives me time to enjoy the outside and to think.

Hi. kaka135. That is great! What a fun way for you and your son to both exercise and have fun in the front yard. I don't jog consistently. I can walk briskly for a while without tiring myself out. If I do jog, I may do so at the park. I walk on a trail at the park that is in my hometown.

I am not good in sports too. Also, the marathon I join is not really a competition, though there are prizes for those great runners, I join for fun and good health only. It requires us to finish 11km within 2 hours (the track I am taking part), but even though we don't finish the track on time, there's nothing to lose. ^_^

My son didn't like to sit in the stroller since he was young. I carried him to the park before he could walk, and after he learned to walk, he just like to walk by himself, without holding me. Now I can jog with him in the park for a short distance, but he will be distracted easily.
Thanks for your response. ^_^

I've actually never been able to job because of the fact that I broke my ankle through the growth plate when I was eight years old. This means that the risk of future damage to my ankle is increased and I really don't want to run that kind of a risk. I do like to take brisk walks though. We have an eight mile walking and fitness trail that isn't really that far away from our house and we will go there and walk on the trail. The kids enjoy it and so do I.

I guess if you are really determined, and want to go ahead with any endeavor, you can do it wherever you want it. You don't have to be in a gym, or in big track to practice jogging. You could do it even in your front yard!
This reminds me, a few months ago, I aslo jogged in place inside my garage. I just opened the door a little bit, and I went jogging in place, inside the garage for a few minutes.
Yes, that only lasted for a few months, but I think I might pick it up again.

Wow! I am in no position to walk or even stand for long let alone jog. I am five months pregnant and going for walks is an ordeal for me. Good that you have found a place to jog. It is time saving too.
