Gosh! what am i going to do?
the problem is my boss is not only a common boss but he is the boss of all bosses and i'm always on call! grrrr and he's always on business!! grrrr

Try to take sleeping pills at night so you can sleep. but make sure you don't overdose, better yet, asked for a prescription. I sometimes feel lazy in going to work, that is why I make up a lot of excuses and make up a lot of illnesses so I can be absent on a lazy day. Sometimes I can get through and be excused, but when I run out of any other excuses, I don't have any choice but to work and be very unproductive at work. I can't do anything, I'm an employee so I should work no matter how lazy I am.

I guess sleeping pills don't suit you at all. It works for me sometimes and have known friends who takes it and it just helps us go to sleep. But yes, I would agree, taking too much would result to addiction, so don't over dose and take it with caution and doctor's prescription.

Hey I don't go to work but I go to school. I o have a big boss though: my mom. I know exactly how you feel, sometimes I just don't feel like going to school too. I pretend having a headache or a tummy ache. I complain a lot about the pain when she comes to wake me up . It works most of the time, not always though
And when I'm in school and wanna go home, I tell the teachers the same. I had some friends, they'd put some stuff in their eyes which would turn their eyes scary red. Then they'd go to the teacher saying they caught some eye infection and was hurting like crazy LOL Maybe you can try that too

well saying ACHES every time i think is not convincing.. the other day you said, sorry ma'am for being absent because i suffered from a belly ache, ma'am i will be absent tomorrow because i will be having a soar throat or soar eyes.. or sir, yesterday i was absent because my back was aching because of over etc etc.. well, that sounds terrific and if i'm a teacher i could possibly spank someone saying aches all the time..

Family matter and sick can be a good reason LOL. I skipped work when I got an interpreting job for UNODC workshop last year. and that was the most unforgotten day as the traffic was soooooo terrible. It rained hard all day and we got trapped in gridlock and some people were stranded and it took 4-5 hours to get home. THanks GOD, at least I arrived at home at 7 pm in good condition LOL

I always say I am not feeling well but the main reason is that I just feel lazy and wanted to stay home. Besides, being there in my previous workplace was so stressful you wont be inspired doing your job and it makes you feel sick literally and figuratively. lol

There are times that I have informed my boss that I have a Lose Bowel Movement. That time my boss allowed me to be absent. There are times that I am lazy to go to work because I am not motivated to work. Maybe what is happening to you is that you are not motivated too... maybe you have a little net take home pay, not that interesting co-workers, overstressed and overworked. That is probably the reason... maybe you need a raise to get motivated

AS I work for myself, I rarely get chance of skipping work or it would mean I don't get any money. I have always prided myself when I have worked for other people, in giving it my best shot, but it is not something that I have had to do for years. I seem to work longer and harder for myself than I ever did for a boss. _Derek

The best excuse in the world is that you are sick. Most employers do not want you coming into work if you are sick because they don't want you to infect others. I would though look into why you are unable to sleep, because you don't want this to become a common thing, because then your boss will stop believing it. Good luck.

lucky me if they won't ask for a medical certificate or maybe, if i find someone in the dyspensary that is no problem. but you are right there is no better alibi than saying we got sick. i think i am lacking of exercise that is why i am unable to sleep

Seldom that I feel not going to work.
I skip work only when very important matter needs full attention.
I skip work to attend to health problems of myself or of my family.
I skip work if someone needs my presence in school.
If I really feel so damn lazy to work, I just got sick is my usual reason.

Hi zills: Honestly I think that's sad. My advice to you would be that you have to think about your job as a blessing because that's what it really is. Think about the persons that really wish to be in your same position and try to love more your job. In my case I only ask my boss for an excuse in case of an emergency or when I really need to be absent and in case you don't love you job at all you should try to find another one that really satisfies you.

hola Alvaro,
now i won't call you amante anymore. we've been talking several times and it is only now that i realize your name was just appended below your replies. sorry for that. my real name is Urcicimo but i would not yearn to hear that. call me zills or as you like.
as i can see, you can relate with my condition here and it's true that there are so many who want to be in on my position and waiting for me to quit. sadly, quitting is out from my vocab. i'm not that weak to quick. i may be weak physically but not the other

I feel you my friend... making a somewhat reasonable excuse just to skip from work is sometimes a harder thing to do. I sometimes get stressed out thinking of a better excuse aside from being sick which normally people use to have an excuse. I have friends who seriously tell the truth to their boss that they are tired of their work and just ask honestly to their boss they they need a break, and sometimes it works on them. I don't know if this does work on your boss, which the boss of all boss. It wont hurt just to try, and just ask honestly that you need to take a break once in a while for you to increase your productivity later. ^ ^

I know how you feel, it's not easy being an assistant to the big boss, I've been an executive assistant for 4 years and it's not easy to just leave your work be absent whenever you want to.Basically my reasons for being absent from work is due to health reasons. I have a scheduled monthly check up with my Rheumatologist. Maybe I'm just lucky that my boss is not that strict when it comes to absences..lucky me....:)

my boss too isn't that strict when it comes to absences with reasons. i just don't like seeing him weary as surely he'll be over fatigued before the sun wax off then i would feel pity then. i was there sleeping while my boss is working? lol that sounds crazy

ahh, just say that hey boss i will be absent today and forever because i dont like you and i am going to find another job, or make my own business, it's good to think that you will just work on the job you like and or make a business so that you are your own boss, and if you feel lazy to work you can take a vacation anytime you want, because you are your own boss.

Well, maybe you need to see a Doctor and see if their is anything they can give you to help you be able to sleep. Or check to see if your iron, etc. is OK to see if that is one of the reasons you are having problems with sleeping. Since you know you have to be at work the next day maybe there is something going on with that situation making things not the Best and you need to confront them. But personally sounds like getting some Sleep could be the Best ticket for you.

You should see a doctor. Might be a symptom or something. Anyway, whenever I want to go ditch work, Emergency Day always helps. hehe I'm part time so I don't usually have schedule so whenever there's work, i grab it. :P But when I'm really really not liking work, I just say, I can't go because I'm sick. :D they don't want you in when you're sick.

symptom for what?
you said you work in a hospital then probably you can tell any significance why do i need seeing a doctor!
i have the attitude of not saying i'm sick if i'm not sick! i believe with the power of word! did you not get those power of words yet?

that sounds too bad! I guess if you ask me about my alibi, it would be that I am sick, but i must be sure i must provide a doctor's certificate for it. However, i guess the problem here is not having a good alibi, i guess its the sleep habit you are having. Maybe you should fix your sleeping thing so that you'll not be dragging yourself the whole morning and it can even lessen your brain thinking ability to make alibis. You will instead be working well and not lie.

Oh,if you lack of sleep i am sure that would be hard to work properly.
I always feels lazy when it's the last day of work for the week.
I always feel like having an early holiday (hahaha)
Sometimes when i am preparing going to work i am also trying to cite some reasons to be absent.
But,in the end found myself inside my cubicle and taking calls/receiving calls from irate and good callers (stressful)
Good thing is ,i only work 4 days in a week,so i have 3 days holiday to spend sleeping ,and mylotting

so you have a friday sickness.. me either, maybe not only during wednesdays but every day lol.. well friday is equivalent to sunday for us christians.
seem like you are a call center agent and you are taking calls. well, i hate those erring ones on the other lines. damn, i won't pick the pone if i know that the one calling has a twisted tongue! sometimes i can't control my temper especially when i'm busy.. i'm glad that my boss does not like submissive or subservient phone receiver as he smiles when i shout over the phone! that's a good thing anyway at least i can voice out my anger sometimes with my boss!
