Had there been no Hair dressers?

Hi friends!
The other day I was getting my hair cut at a Barber shop and a thought crossed my mind – Had there been no Hair dressers or Barbers, what would have happened to us? We would not have looked smart and handsome, the way we look after we make a visit to our Hair Dresser and got out hair cut etc. and if we talk about men, they would have grown long hair or beards and would have been like a cave man …………
! I realized that every profession has its own importance and Hair dressers or Barbers are equally important. What is your take on this issue?

We would look as how the cave man and woman look like.
Yes, every one whatever they do is important in this cycle of life. It's the attitude than differentiate one to the other. Sometimes I joked with a food seller on the street and everyone looked at me as if they wanted to know what I see in the food seller. Well, I see only his honesty.

You have rightly said that even a 'garbage collector' is important and if he chooses to remain absent for more than 2 days, our house will start stinking.
Those who every time show an 'attitude' are not liked in general.

Hi Jen!
You have rightly pointed out that all of us would like cave men/women, in case there are no hair dressers. I agree with you that each profession is important in life and everyone is an important clog in the wheel. Imagine, if your fruit seller does not turn up with fruits, how would you get fruits.
It is good that you love honesty.
Have a great day!

Well, I do hope you tipped your hair dresser very well. That is really something to think about. We should be happy that hair dressers went to school and chose that profession. You were lucky today! My question is did you go in with a beard and/or long hair? I even wonder if the hairdresser knows how important their job is.

So sweet of you to think this way .........Celticeagle .........
. When my hair dresser cuts my hair nicely and give me a good face massage and head massage, I do not mind paying him some tip.
. (My) Hair dresser knows that his job is important and many keep waiting in his shop for their turn..........lol!
I shave myself everyday (I do not grow beard) and do not ask my Barber for shaving my face. I normally go to him for getting my hair cut after one month, so that I could look handsome and smarter.
Thanks for dropping in.
Have a nice day/evening!
Deepak

Yes, they are important...but my husband doesn't think so..lol
He goes for a haircut once in 3 months!!! And this despite having thick hair which grows quickly. My sons get regular haircuts thanks to me. I need a trimming badly at the moment and hubby doesn't think it's necessary!!
I'm not sure if a hair dresser is a necessity but a barber is. But if there weren't any barbers around, people would surely have learnt how to trim their tresses and would have helped each other.

Though you are right, I don't take the services of a hair dresser for a wedding or function. I prefer doing it myself. And secondly, I've done the cutting for my older son before his brother was born and for a while later (till the younger one decided to be a pain and not allow me to do anything that needed attention). I have a kit with a trimmer (with diff blades), scissors and a comb and I use it. Nothing funky...but I can manage a pretty decent haircut if the boys sit still.

HI SV!
Even if you hubby goes for a hair cut after 3 months, he needs the help of a trained Barber, is not it? I mean we cannot do a Barber's job ourselves, as neately and as professionaly, the way he does.
It is good to hear that you take care of your sons and take them to Barber for regular hair cut. This way not only your sons look smarter, Barber also earns his livlihood.
Hair dresser is also necessary at a lesser scale, you would need a hair dresser, if you need to attend a function/marriage etc. and that hair dresser could even be your friend/relative or a professional. Thanks for dropping in.
Deepak
Have a nice day!

HI ifa!
I did not know that your net speed is slow and you are unable to contact your mylot friends. Thanks for dropping in and for agreeing that barbers and hair dressers are very important and without them we may not look like civilized persons.
Do you go to a hair dresser?

I would take note of your point that if you are invisible, it means there is some net problem.
You can choose not to go to a hair dresser, which does not serve your purpose.
It is interesting to hear that you love to grow your hair.

i rare to go to hair dresser since i don't like the new stylish hair right now. they make our hair colorful and cut in unbalance here and there.
i love to grow my hair just like that..but i am not a cave man

Hi Irienne!
It is interesting to hear that you have attempted hair cut earlier because you do not want to venture out
. If you can still do it yourself, let me assure you that you are going to save your time and money.
Thanks for dropping in.

True they are useful and helpful. But if you think the other way, they can also be the cause of unhappiness for many days.
I had my hair a few weeks ago and still suffer the mistake made by the Hairdresser. It doesn't suit me at all, and I have to wait a long time for it to grow to the length I want (she cut it way shorter than I want).
Ask me again after I have a good haircut and you'll get a more positive answer.

Hi Zralte!
I am sorry to hear that your hair dresser made you unhappy and did not trim you hair the way you wanted. However, I believe that you look beautiful even in short hair.
I will wait for the next time, when you go for hair cut and get a suitable hair cut and again write your comments here.
Have a great day!
Deepak

I hope you will re-appear with your comments, when next time you get your favourably cut.

Awww it's not too bad, as far as bad haircut goes....It's just that I like to be able to tie it up in a ponytail. With the kids and the hot weather, I can't tolerate the hair on my neck. She cut it too short and in steps as well, so to be able to tie up nicely, I have to wait awhile.
Yup, will come back next time I have my hair styled

Well, I am personally glad for Men that there are Barbers out there... as if there were not, their hair would be as long as womens or longer, and no one would be able to tell the difference, or they would be expiramenting even more to where when you seen them you would wonder what was up with the looks of them? Women it would be the same too.

Hi Kra!
Thanks for thinking about Barbers and their importance for men.
. Had they not been in existence, it would have been difficult to make a difference between a man and a woman due to their length of hair.

Well, I think if there were no hair dressers, then we would be forced to do it ourselves. Just like the time when coutures and clothing manufacturers weren't around - most people just make their own clothes.
I think having professions just make things easier. It helps us not to worry about other things anymore and focus on things that we love to do or are competent to do. So, instead of worrying or making your own clothes we'd buy from manufacturers so that we worry about other things.

HI Lay!
It is OK that had there been no hair dressers, we might have done ourselves. However, I feel that we cannot do our hair etc. as a professional does. S/he becomes an expert when s/he does it everyday. S/he masters the art, which we might have not been able to do. I agree that if they are available, we get plenty of time to do other chores. Many thanks for kick starting the post and dropping in after a long time.

Well, if you yourself are forced to do it regularly, then soon you'll discover you could do it better than you expected yourself to. It's like how you start a new job, at first it would feel awkward (mostly when it's a physical kind of a job) however, sooner or later you would get the hang of it and then it would be like clockwork and you wouldn't need to spend too much time adjusting anymore.
This is what I meant when I said "you could do it on your own."
Thanks for the response.

On the surface it appears easier
, however, I would still like to go a Barber to get my hair cut, instead of doing something silly to myself.

Hi. dpk262006. You are right! Hopefully men and women will begin to learn how to cut their own hair. And they will know how to fix it too. I would hope for these barbers and hair dressers to have a hair license. It is good to have these types of professionals but it is also great that women and men can know how to do their own hair if possible.

Hi Jen!
Read other responses, some of the respondents are of the view that they can make do without hair dressers/barbers and would save money, if they do not go there.
. For me a Barber is necessary.

hello dpk,
If there were no barbers/hair dressers by this time, guess we will be doing it by ourselves,or asks someone from our loved ones to do it for us.
Same thing like plumber,carpenter,mason etc.
Without those skilled people, then,we will end up building our house...for how long? (hahaha)
Have a good day

Hi Jai!
We just cannot perform all the tasks i.e. of a Hair Dresser, plumber, carpenter or electrician or meachanic
. Someone needs to do it for us. As some of us are also skilled worker (may be in white collar jobs), therefore, everyone is important in the society. Thanks for dropping in.

If this happens, we either see more innovative
hair styling or cave man in the city walking
about.
I at times asked my wife to cut for me just
to save some money but she will tell me to
go to the barber instead. She said barber
can cut better and neater. My son prefer my
wife to cut for him. However, my wife managed
to persuade him to go to the hair salon instead.

Hi James!
Your dear wife appears wiser to me because she is right that she cannot cut or trim your hair like a profressional Barber
. Your son is young, so he could be persuaded to get his hair cut by his mother
. Thanks for dropping in.

Ha ha!! I haven't been to any hair cutter in years! It's mostly laziness on my part . . . I've always let my hair grow out because I never knew what to do with it. And then it was for budgetary reasons - I was too cheap to get my hair cut properly, so I did it myself (I doubt anyone really noticed). Last year my husband cut my hair and it came out really well! But I know there are many who dare not cut their own hair, nor let anyone but professionals mess with their hair - so yes, hair dressers and barbers are important!

Hi much2say!
I have seen you after a long time. Hope all is well
. It appears that you were busy in planning where and how to get your hair cut, therefore, you were not on mylot (or atleast in my discussions).
Back to your response - you see there is no harm if you or your hubby can help you cut your hair. In that case, it is not necessary to go to a hair dresser and it is also true that if we can do something ourselves, we save money too. I do not go to a barber for 'shaving' my face, I do it myself because it is easier and it helps me save some money. However, I cannot cut my own hair, therefore, I go to a barber and do not mind paying him.
dpk
PS - how are you doing.

Am doing fine.
You know it that I love humour.
Your comments tell me the reasons of your absence and I can understand that shifting etc. and marriage in a family could make you very busy. Hope things would have settled now and you would have recovered from your illness.
So you did get your hair cut because of your sister's marriage and I hope this would have helped you look more beautiful and smarter.

You are funny!! Well, most of February I wasn't even online at all. We moved, and then we had problems getting online - let alone get our phone line going. Then we were sick on and off (all of us, including the kids) so it was hard to get our place into shape (and we still have some unpacking to do!). So anyway life has taken over and I don't have too much time to be on myLot unless I'm up at night like I am now. But I can't do that often because I MUST sleep (as I'm still somewhat sick AGAIN). So a haircut has been the furthest from my mind - believe me!! However, my sister just got married - so my daughter and I DID get our hair cut so we could actually look nice for the event. As my boss would say, I didn't get my hair cut, I got my HAIRS (plural) cut - ha ha. And how are you doing?!

Oh no, DPK, I cannot imagine our world without hairdressers. They are one of the most important professionals in our life. Without them, grossly all male will look alike (like Sikh (Punjabi) people).
One this is also sure that were will be no world records for longest hair if there were no barbers as most of the people will have long hair.
It is very hard for me to even imagine that what will happen if there will be no hairdressers.

you have very rightly said that professionals like Hair dressers are very important and in case we keep long hair, we may all look like Sikhs or may be if someone sees are from our back, s/he may mistake us for a woman.
.
Yeah, it looks beyound imagination that there could be life without Barbers or Hair Dressers. Thanks for dropping in.

It would be such a wonderful thing. No more sitting there in a Barber shop like an idiot. No more letting some stranger wash my hair and touching my head. No more bad hair day cause everyday is a bad hair day. Yipee! Less pollution from all those hair spray and dye, and stuff use for perm. In deed, I imagine that it would be so much better if all human being on this planet are bored. Whew!
Why do we have to grow hair on top of our head anyway?

You are looking it from the other angle that if you do not require to go to a Barber, it will save your time
. You see sitting at a Barber's shop and waiting has its own pleasure, you get to observe different customers and their behaviour and you get to hear lots of sundry news.
.
We do not grow hair on our head, it is by nature and remember that those who are bald always feel isolated and bad.
