Yes, It's true! My very first PC was MURDERED! In a fit of rage, cold blooded, beated to death, last night at approximately 8:00PM EST. It wasn't turning on to well, but it was "working"- well sort of! I got a visit from my Computer Guy/ Sort of Son.(Not really my son-another story for another time). He started messing with it and I could see this wasn't going well. He was getting angrier and angrier and whatever he tried wasn't working. He replaced the power supply which screwed up the monitor and that's when it happened...he went insane and started beating up the hard drive! He bludgeoned it to death~ But, he did that before he was able to take my info off the hard drive and put it into the new computer! Doh! He is a dead man if he can't recover my files~ RIP my very first PC! Has anything like this every happened to any of you? You call on someone who you depend on and trust with something very important to you and they shock you by doing something so so...well you know DISCLAIM: Can't kill "Sort of Son" cause he bought me this nice new computer that I'm typing now for Christmas"

My second PC got clobbered by a virus and I had to reload. Then it crashed in the middle of a defrag and I had to reload. And then some other thing happened and I had to reload. Never did recover my files, or even try. Boy was that annoying, and I was so glad when I got a new PC. Hope they recover your files!

I learned not to ask my first husband to work on plumbing. It made him throw things, like hammers, but never at the plumbing. I knew that something that distressed him that much was better left to a professional. I threw ashtrays at our shed once, because I wanted him to quit smoking. It did not help. I ended up having to pick all the stuff out of the yard from it. Usually I do not get violent, that was about thirty years ago. He quit smoking when he was dying and could no longer light up. I am glad you have a new computer and I hope your old stuff can be recovered.

Hi GG! I used to have a very serious "Anger Management Issue", but it is now pretty much under control, thanks to Meds & therapy. So, I don't make light of it. My "sort of son" does need therapy and has gone a few times, but I seriously need to try to convince him to go back, if I can. What he did last night was bad and now he's punishing me by not taking my calls and I have questions about this new HP PC. That's totally not fair to me!

Oh my goodness! Crazy man! I've heard of things like that happening, but have never actually known anyone to do it. I have to admit I did get a little laugh picturing this guy beating up your poor computer! Though I am sorry for the trouble it will cause you. It's no fun starting all over again, I've done it a few times!

Well over the yrs. I have had many computers. The very first one I ever owned I spent way too much $$ on it, but it was back in the day... and it would never be able to get online anymore for sure. I remember selling it to a good friend of mine for like $100 thinking that was a Good deal but now am sure that Computer has been long gone for yrs.

Hi Krause~Great to see you, hope you are well! My Mom bought me that PC. Her friend's husband, who knows about computers "picked it out". It was a Compaq Package. It was nice for a beginner~

Hi Lakota! It was going to "die" anyway! He just "helped" along. It couldn't really be fixed and since he had already bought me a brand new HP PC for Christmas that was just sitting around waiting to be set up it really wasn't so bad. He also was able to retrieve my stuff after all and now just needs to download it into the new PC! I love the new one since it's so much faster! Once I get my new kitchen floor he will set up the new monitor and it will be even more incredible, at least I think so?

I have no experience something like this with any of my computers or computers here in the office. Actually, I am a tech guy sort of. I can do repairs with almost anything in the house that needs my special touch. But there are some times, I have to repair, say an electric fan or a stove. Which needs a little touch of my hands to make it work better. They still work well, kinda. But some times, it ended we need to buy another piece of it.

Hi neildc! Believe it or not I'm pretty handy with repairs myself, expect for electrical stuff. But when it comes to computers-I just yell for help!

Hi AL, the laptop he gave me doesn't work right either. He did buy me a new HP PC for Christmas. He works as a Manager at Staples and knows when there are sales so he bought me a new one! But, he lost his temper and wrecked my old one before getting the files out and now I have to wait to see if he can retrieve them~ Am still very upset and am having issues with the new one since he installed everything half-azzed!

A bit of pent up frustration towards the computer perhaps? I can relate...I have wanted to beat the fire out of a computer or two..as a matter of fact..the printer at work comes to mind right now as I think about a good beating..LOL. I have never had anyone else beat my stuff up but as long as you have a new one..what the heck?

Not the point though! He installed some of the programs so fast and it needs some "work" and now he won't even take my calls. I had to have the bf call from his cell phone last night so he could get him to answer one question! Now he probably won't answer his call the next time if he remembers the phone number!

Oh my..I didn't know he trashed it up, bought a new one, and never was to be seen again! That's very different. The bad thing about that is that someone else has no real starting point because you don't know where the other one stopped. I can't believe he did you like that!

Hiya Opal, We have had somebody here similar to that with a anger management problem too you cannot say anything to him really. He messed up our other Computer which is sitting there waiting for us to save it from the trash? Actually it´s a very bad overpriced Computer but it´s a good thing not everything is on there either. Hoping that this delapidated Computer I have here does not pack up on me just yet. Have to move from here about August and I need all the Cash I can get to buy things all over again. Yes I hope he can recover what you need from there as it´s really important that more than the actual Computer itself. It is very frustrating to lose a Computer in that way as well. Ours is a really good one that fell into the wrong hands too many times. Like playing the Lottery I guess. Luvya opal have a great Weekend.xxx

Hey LovinA! He is being a real a-hole right now and making me really upset! He broke it, now I have issues with the new PC because it is unfamiliar to me and he "set it up" in a "fit of rage" and won't talk to me! Nice huh?

Opal it sounds like his solution was BFH which stands for Big F*cking Hammer. Techie talk for computer nerds like me. Surprisingly it works some times to fix the problems PC's have. But normally one don't bet on the hard drive just the computer case. That sucks that happened but cool also cause now you have a nice new computer that I am sure runs better than the one you had from your description. Next time he grabs something to beat the computer with tell him just to beat on the case and not the hard drive. lol

Hi avonrep! Don't believe we've met and I see you've been around awhile. I peeked at your profile and I can't believe I've not seen you because we certainly have quite a few things in common! I've sent you a friend request, hope you'll accept. I loved your response! I wish I was a "techie" because I am so screwed up right now! He really left me with a mess. I don't know if he will be able to "save" anything from the hard drive (which he took to try to download on his computer first) and there are questions and issues I'm having with the new PC and he is being a phucking azzwhole and not answering me on the phone, blocking me on the computer and I'm in deep doody!!!

Hi Opal! Temper! Temper! Temper! Well, computers can bring that out in all of us, can't it? My last computer was on it's last leg quite a few times but I was able to make it work for a while longer till it just quit working all together so hubby went and got me a new one which I'm typing on now. I'm not so sure I like it because it's so different and there's so much to learn AGAIN. Oh well, as long as I get the internet and word, I'm happy because that's all I need. Good luck with yours!!

Hi C&D! Great to see you! I'm on the new one now! He finally decided to "behave" and "fixed" some of the issues! I still don't know if my "stuff" from the old PC was able to be salvaged or not. He is maybe going to work on that tomorrow. He has what's left of the hard drive after the "murder"!

that is what really kills you when you cant retreive things from the older pc. Things like personal pics, journals of your own, etc. thats why ive started leaving my pics, journals, etc. in an email folder thats free, online, so i can go and get them back at any time. ive learned my lesson with my last 2 pc's before this one.

Hey Leslie, When I saw your mylot notice, I quickly read your post. I was so relieved to find you speaking of your late computer and not something worse!! You and several other mylot friends are frequently on my mind. Even though I don't participate often, I try to keep up with my very special and loved friends. I'm so sorry to hear about your computer! We have lost computers with all our personal data and no way to retrieve it, so I feel your pain. Look at it this way, now you can use a disc to back up and save your hard work. I hope and pray you are well. Love Leenie

Oh my this is terrible to say the least. I work with PC and do a great deal of repairs but cannot say I or have experienced anything like this. I do hope that by now you have been able to recover your files. Usually they remain in the hard-drive and are able to retrieve them. I see he bought you a new PC, that is great at least he did not leave you totally without.

Hi hwg! Always great to hear from you! He had bought me the new PC for Christmas, was just waiting to get my Kitchen/Office Floor re-done to set it up. But, unfortunately the "old PC" had other ideas and then so did he! He says he as "recovered my stuff from the harddrive" and just has to "install" it into this PC~still waiting!
