First, figure out why you wanted to read and what kind of reading you want to enjoy. If you want to read novels, keep in mind that there are many genres like fiction, romance etc. If you found a genre that suits you, try reading some of the books within its category. If you find listening to music okay, you can do so. Try listening to soft music. Also, read in a quiet place with enough light. Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

First, find a book that really really interests you. A book that if you get bored in 5 minutes, you'd still read it after because, just as I said, it really interests you that you want to know everything what the book contains. Even thin books would do. Repeat doing this method with other books that you really want to read as well. Read until you feel the urge to want to read that you'll want to read any book that you can just grab in your room or house. You just have to repeat things to harness something inside you.

It is important to find interest in what you're reading because that is what will keep you from putting down the book and "not be tempted to do anything else." I used to be an avid reader but I am just way too busy right now to curl up in a corner and read. I'm still looking forward to reading a good book though where I could lose myself in.
I suggest you try reading a book that doesn't have that many pages just to get started and see from there. And don't forget to have fun! :)

I love reading...:) But, I am not really into textbooks, readings, books with a lot of communication theories...:(( Argh! I have to deal with them for four years or even more if I plan to pursue my studies further.:( Oh well, it's not like I have a choice. I won't pass if I don't read them. I can't just rely on my professors lectures, I also have to do my part. The thing I do is, change my mindset. Though I really am not not into them, I keep telling myself, "I love you. You hold my future." Haha.:) Not really helpful though. But it's worth a try.:)

I guess U should at least find a book that U like,U interested in. And then, read it. I don't know what U like to read, so I can't give U suggestions.

wanting to love books and reading is the first step you've done! i for myself also used to love reading when i was in high school. i could spend time reading and not wanting to put down a book until i have finished reading it. but as i grow older, i find myself getting so busy with so much more other things so i had less time to read.
i guess the best way for you is to know first what interests you and then try to read more of those books.. then, slowly as you become used to reading, move on to other different books that would allow you to learn more and gain knowledge.

I gained the love of books and reading when I was at school. I belong to my local library and I buy books of my own too. I have a book case with three shelves full of books. Today I bought a book about how to do a garden makeover. It has lots of interesting ideas to read about. Most of all I love to read travel guide books. Last week I was in Bristol because I had take my disabled son to the hospital for an appointment. The hospital is a boring place so it is sensible to take a book or a magazine to read whilst waiting to be seen. After his appointment I went for a look at a shop that sells maps and travel books. I think that it is wise to find a comfortable seat to sit in and look at a book which is so excellent it is hard to put it down.

Perhaps you have a short attention span in reading - at least I do. I love books, but honestly I'm no novel reader. I've always loved childrens books - and I'm an avid collector of them. My children have always had books and they love them more than their toys - so glad they started reading so young. Anyway, as I grew up, I never steered clear from childrens books . . . while my friends were reading big thick books, I still went back to the childrens section as I always got something out of the short stories and illustrations (magical!). In college, I took a class on short stories - and I absolutely loved that. Magazines are up my alley as well. So I finally realized that maybe it has something to do with my attention span - I can focus on short reading, but somehow not so much with the longer ones. There are some longer books that I have read, but it's probably because those subjects interested me.

I also the same, but i saw people usually they read the books while traveling in the bus or auto and while sitting in the park. I got surprised about them, because i am not that much of book worm. But they will give that much of concentration over the book and about that story. I never had that kind of concentrate but still i am tryin to do that. Once i will also be a book worm and want to study or read alot.
