Being tagged on a picture even if you're not there

Yes, I do experienced that. Not very often though (I'm not popular). When my friends uploaded a picture that they want me to comment on or they want me to see, they tagged me. Since they don't do that very often, it is not irritating. In fact, I quite like it. I can see what they want me to see without me having to browse through their albums and such. I don't really like browsing through their pictures when most of the time I don't know the rest of the people other than my friend.

I have only experienced one incident in which a college classmate of mine made cartoon versions of all her Facebook friends with some site she found online, and so I got tagged in the image of the cartoon version of me. I didn't mind, though, and actually thought the picture was pretty cute. I also knew this person well enough to take it as just a thoughtful gesture. As for being tagged in pictures that I am not actually in, I have never had such an experience, however, I know people who have experienced this. Most of the time (at least among the people I know) it is because the person who posted the picture thought it was a picture they might like and tagged them to make sure they saw it. I really don't see the point in that though. Plus, the caption becomes incorrect when the names of the people tagged are preceded by the words, "In this photo:" and then they're not there. I think if it's an image you want a friend to see, then e-mailing it to them or PMing it to them would be a more proper way to go about it. If I was not in the picture but was tagged, I would probably remove the tag myself, especially if it happens to be a picture that could be misleading as to other people's perceptions of me (I am very self-conscious about how I come across to others). Plus I just don't see the point of being tagged if I am not in the picture!

Hi. chiepao. I have not been tagged in any photos that I know of. I have seen many other people tagged though. I don't see the meaning of tagging someone that is not even in the photo.

Yup many times! I also remove my tag when I don't like the photo that was tagged to me. Sometimes I don't when they tag me to show to me a funny picture of a friend.

I have this as a problem as well.Lots of my friends are forever tagging me and even on silly cartoons.I am like you i also remove myself from the tag.I hate being tagged in photos that do have me in them as well, lol, as i hate it, but i do not go on face book that often, so by the time i see the photos it is like a week later, so everyone has seen them.

Yes it happens to me like when there was this picture of oue old teacher and everyone in the year was tagged that had a facebook even if they didn't have that teacher. There was a whole load of comments and it was getting annoying but I would always check the comments out to see what they said. It doesn't annoy me too much though and it doesn't happen that much.

Hello Chiepao, Yes it's happen to me quite a few times and I think they do it so you will have a copy of the picture for your wall. If I don't want the picture I remove my name from the tag, but I still thank them for including me.

I don't liek being tagged of thepictures that is nonsense or top followers or something like that...

Oh this is something that annoys me especially if they are garbage jokes. I don't want that on my page. If I did I would post it myself! I don't mind if it is a picture of my kids or hubby or even of the puppy we gave to someone but the ones of icons are just annoying. Actually one time a friend was hacked and naked pictures of people where tagged to all of her friends it was horrible and she was so embarrassed.

I do it myself sometimes, when I want to make sure that someone sees a picture they're not in. If someone does it to me, I usually check it out then remove the tag afterwards (depending a bit on what it is). Never seen that as a problem though, but then it doesn't happen all the time. Quite regularly but not very often.

I think only once for me because most my friends post actual pictures of me in them that they tag. As for if it is annoying I would say because I have 329 direct friends and family members if they were to be doing so I find that it would annoy me. Grateful though that I don't have the issue but I will remember, lol, in case it starts to try and immediately put a stop to it so it does not get out of hand. Hi chiepao, YES! I always receive a tag from a picture which is I am not in there.. I find it so annoying! You're not alone with this.

I have it done with me sometimes but usually it's my good friend who does it so it doesn't bother me at all and I don't untag my self because those are my bros. If a lot of people were doing it to me a lot though then maybe it would get annoying and I would untag myself. Though I do not like it when a company makes a profile of a fake person and adds you as a friend and then they tag you in pictures you're not in. I don't like how they trick you like that and then try and get cheap publicity on their pictures. I think this is somewhat related to what you are talking about.

Yes, I've gotten that in the past few months. I guess people have discovered that it's a way to get your attention - to make sure YOU see whatever photo they are trying to show everyone. I had a few people do that during the holidays with their holiday greetings - the tagging ensured we would see it on our walls. Another friend tagged a bunch of us with one of his vacation photos - so that we would see his album for sure - rather than his album being completely missed by a normal post. It's an annoying tactic - and it's not something I would do - but at least you can remove that tag if you really wanted to.

yeah i have experienced that. but what i am annoyed of is when i am tagged in pictures of online shops on Facebook what i do is i just untag myself then once i do that, they wont be able to tag me again

Some people tag people who have nothing to do with the photo because they are fishing for comments and I hate it when they do that. It doesn't only ruin my banner but it annoys my to check notifications I have nothing to do with. To make it worse, even if I already told them many times not to do it 'cos it's totally pointless for me, it's as if I told them nothing. And oh, also these applications which automatically tagged people, ugh, even more annoying.
