I have been on vacation for the last week. On Sunday I went to Wisconsin Dells and met my daughter and her family at the Great Wolf Lodge. It's a big complex with indoor water park and tons of other things to do. We stayed for two days then headed to my house where they spent the rest of last week with me. They left yesterday to see my son in laws family in Nebraska on their way to California where they are moving. I have a small house so it gets to be a bit on the pressing side when other people visit. I enjoy them being here but I am ready for some time alone and also to get the house back to normal! Do you ever need a vacation from your vacation? I go back to work tomorrow and I am looking foward to it!

Sounds like a great time at the water park. Know what you mean about needing a vacation after a vacation. Only twice have we been to Las Vegas. I came home exhausted both times since I thought I should be in the casino all day and night. Not necessarily playing but also people watching. Glad you were able to spend time with your family.

Sometimes the vacation we are aiming is not really a vacation, we take our vacation for visiting love ones, going outings, malling and so on. The real vacation we are aiming is just a pleasurable vacation, For me just stay at home, watch TV, sleep a lot, eating what I want to eat, no travel involved because I hate travelling a lot. Just in case, if you go on vacation for say one week vacation, do not spend the whole week, leave 2 days from your vacation to spend for your vacation in that way you are not tired reporting for work the next day.

Actually, I agree with your idea.
Every day, we need to work for life, for example, getting up early, going back home late.
If I have a holiday, I just want to sleep a lot and have a free time for all day.
I am a lazy man, free is the besr vocation.

There have been many times when I have taken a Vacation even if it a short quick one over like the course of the weekend, when I have come back almost feeling more tired and exhausted than before I left and I feel like I need time to catch up on my sleep, etc. before having to go back to work. I am sure you feel this way because you were bombarded with people all the time. Even though you love them and enjoyed your time with them, once you leave your body finally takes time, or wants to take the time to catch up on some sleep and relax.

Hi, jill....I've heard of Great Wolf Lodge. The owner/manager was on Undercover Boss on one of the first airings. I think she has a chain of them. It looked huge from what was shown on tv.
I've often needed a vacation from my vacations. I had to cram so much catch-up housework and errands and chores that I was ready to go back to work before the 'vacation' was over. One time we drove to Florida from Kentucky around the first of January and ran into an ice/snow event and by the time we had slid through Kentucky and Tennessee I was ready to give it up right then. That was a big deal in '81. Then after vacationing in Florida with a couple of 'friends', I was so tired of them that I was so longing and waiting for that week of vacation to be over. I learned a lesson that year; never go on vacation with friends when you really don't like them too much in the first place.

My mom used to say that when we would get home from our vacation every summer. Our vacation was wherever the conference my dad was going to each summer was holding their meetings. So every summer for a week and a half in July, we went on vacation. And by the end of our hot vacation (because is there anywhere in July that isn't hot?) my mom was asking for a vacation from our vacation. And then once we got home the loads of laundry would start to pile up. My poor mom.

I havent been on vacation in probably 7 years I'm guessing. My son has never been on vacation and my daughter was only a few months old when we went on vacation. We havent been since then. I went to the great wolf lodge with my family just to visit and see the christmas setup they had. It was so neat. We toured the place and I told my kids I think in a few months that we should have a little vacation there. I think they would really love it. Its only about 2 hours away from me so thats not to bad. And in the winter there isnt much to do anyway so getting to go to an indoor water park in the winter would be awesome for both the kids and I. Even without the water park there is so many neat things you can do there.

Sometimes, too much of a good thing can be bad for us as well. It doesn't mean we love the people any less, just that their stay can be aggravating after a while. Besides, that's what a vacation is about, refreshing ones self that when they go back to work, they're ready to take on what ever comes their way. Hope you have a great day back at work!

I remember the day when I could jam a million things into a vacation too! Three kids on a camping trip. Packing, unpacking, packing and unpacking, only to have a weeks worth of 5 people's clothes to wash, dry, fold and put away. Then go to work to rest. I know the feeling. Now its total relaxation on the other end of the trip and only my own clothes to worry about. Whew!

good for you you have had a vacation.
but anyway, yes a vacation is quite exhausting. this is especially if, as what you said, you are the host. one thing about having friends or relatives come visiting you is that you would find it hard to do what you really wanted to do. you'd have to dedicate as much of your time to them for as long as they are with you. it's good to have a break from a daily routine, but sometimes we get more than we ask for.

Sometimes a vacation can take more out of us than we are willing to give. We can feel more tired and exhausted from the fun we are supposed to be having.
