Dear All, When India defeated Srilanka in Wankhede Stadium on the 2nd of April, a few accounts were settled along the way. Let us start with the 1996 World Cup semi finals where Srilanka was awarded the match after India were 120 for 8, due to bad crowd behavior. It was a very sad sight, because of way the match had ended. It would have been better if India was all out. This time the Indian team chases a total of 275 runs with minimum of risk and six wickets in hand. The 2003 World Cup saw the Indian team get thrashed in the finals by the Australians. Zaheer Khan's initial spell was a disastrous one. As a matter of fact all the bowlers were taken to the cleaners..!!! This time though, the target set by the Australians were achieved by Team India pretty convincingly and it also meant that Australia will not be in the finals after a lllloooonnnggg time. It was a sweet revenge, which I am sure the victory would have given Saurav "Dada" Ganguly a lot of pleasure. And finally in 2007, India was kicked out of the World cup following a defeat to Bangladesh. India was bowled out for about 195 and Bangladesh chased the target quite comfortably. This time, the account was settled in the very first match of the world cup. India Scored a massive 370 and batted Bangladesh out of the match. This is why cricket is a great sport. It is a leveler.
