If you are still a non believer of anti-virus, malware removal and/or spyware removal programs then this article will probably make you reconsider. Websense, a computer security has reported that an alarming number, thousands (in fact) of legitimate have been booby trapped by hackers. These sites are being inserted with malicious code crafted to dupe Internet users like you and me, into downloading and installing fake anti-virus software, referred to as "scare-ware" which eventually let them control your computers. Most of all, gain access to your personal and confidential data and details. So, be careful what you are doing when you encounter warnings online and what or how you are getting your anti-virus or security suite programs. Also, your programs need to be original, licensed, current with the latest updates and patches. Once again, be safe! wow, shocking but not shocking at the same time. personally the only place that i download anything form is download.com. its a really good site and all their software's are screened by the site, and rate by the owner and users too. i don't like downloading things that i don't trust, like the popups and other websites that show your computer being scanned and telling you that you have a problem. anything like that i stay far away form, its only trouble. thanks for that information its always good to inform people about it. you'll be amazed at what some people don't now about the internet and their own computers. well you have a good day and keep on mylotting.

sisco100, I believe the most important thing here is that legitimate websites are actually being hacked to bring non protected internet surfers into being infected. It is just very easy for any of us to fall for it when these downloading are being "persuaded" from a valid and legitimate site which could be a news or government department portal. All it takes here is a mere negligent and leave our meticulous attention to details out the door. So, do be very careful.

Thanks for the information , sky .. I agree ..some sites are bogus and they leave trails to download the safest anti-virus only to find out it's actually the virus spreading. Good to take note of all these happenings around the cyber world.

Be extra cautious about spyware wanting to fix problems they say you have. Chances are they are the source of the infections. I had this problem a few months ago. I could not get rid of spyware popping up until I ran Malware Bytes to clean everything infected.

I don't understand how people can use Internet without having any anti-virus program. There are so many different ways of danger, specially when u need to download something. Sometimes i think that much easier is to get a virus on your PC than find 'clean' program to download. Even from original site. I had problems downloading Dr.Web CureIt from their own site few times! Thanks to my anti-virus program for warned me many times about ;dirty' programs. By the way i use ESET Smart Security anti-virus. The best one in my opinion!
