Which way to wear it?

I gave my husband a watch for his birthday today. He wants to wear it on the inside of his wrist. I told him nobody wears it that way, that it was wrong. He insists that the men used to wear it that way in old movies. He also says wearing it that way will protect the glass when he bangs his arm against a doorway.
Have you ever seen or worn a watch this way? Is there a "right" way to wear a watch?

Sometimes, we tend to conform with the standard way of doing things or wearing things.
However, some people tend not to conform to that standard way, just as your husband would like to wear his watch.
Well, just let him have his way. What is important, is he gets to wear it and it's comfortable to him that way. We really should just let others do their own way.

I dont beleive that there is a right or a wrong way to wear a watch. My husband still wears his on the inside of his wrist. Ive also seen men wear it both ways. I know women wear their's on the top of their wrist.

I ever saw my teacher wear watch like your husband. I think it is OK. People have different customs. Some people even think that it is easier to watch the time by this way. You shall not be bothering by this. As long as your husband likes this watch, it is good enough.
I love China

I have honestly never seen a watch worn that way, but if it makes him happy, I say he should go for it. I would think it would get more scratched that way because the face of the watch will be hitting all surfaces when he is writing or typing. But, if that is what he wants, I guess it's his watch. My son loves to wear his watch on his right arm, which my husband and I think is strange. But, he's more comfortable that way, so we don't say anything.

I'd say the best way to wear a wristwatch would be whatever would happen to be the most comfortable way for the wearer..Me,I'm used to wearing mine on top of my wrist, but there are times I will just take it off..I simply don't find watches the most comfortable things to wear! I like to have a watch on while I'm working, but when I'm off it's back to the cellphone as my timepiece,if I bother...

A favourite watch I'd use would be a pocket watch my Brother gave me a while back-it came with a leather belt loop fob,and has a loop for a chain too..the only reason I don't wear it more often is that it doesn't have an alarm or any timer functions, which I'd find useful from time to time...

Many men that I have met wear their watch on the inside and actually, when I wore a watch years back sometimes I wore mine that way too. It was more comfortable, and also if you are in a meeting it is impolite to keep looking at one's wristwatch so on the inside you can sneak a peek without attracting attentions. I have to side with your hubby on this one, Trace.
Now I seldom wear a watch because my smart phone shows the time on the display.

well, I think you should let him wears the way he wants it is a lot better... plus, you already gave him and it is his stuff so he should decide on it. I sometimes tell my husband what to do but not if he wants to do his way then it is ok with me too. and I dont want him to feel that I over control him

I know a few people who wear watch like that. It depends on how easy it is for them to see the watch and what they are used to. I wear them on the outside mainly because that's what I'm used to. And if I were to wear them on the inside, I will always be looking at the wrong side (so to speak) everytime I want to know the time.
My mother, wear it on her inside wrist and so are a few people I know.
I don't actually know any man who wears it inside though. I only know women who likes to wear them on inside wrist. There must be some, though.
I quite like his explanation of 'protecting the glass'
I don't think there is a right way or wrong way of wearing a watch. Let him wear it the way it is comfortable to him.

For me, there's no such things as the "right" way to wear a watch just the "usual" way of wearing it. I wear my watch on my right arm but my the other members wear it on the left. At first, they found it weird, but they didn't really ask me to wear my watch the way they do.:) Just let him be. It's his watch now.:D

Even though it is worn on the outside of the wrist, wearing it on the inside protects the glass as he says. I personally never noticed how they wear it in the old movies. What I know is that women wear it on the inside of the right hand wrist while men wear it on the left hand outsite the wrist.

Hi,
I have never seen guys liking the watch to be worn that way! Also, I am not really sure if it used to be worn that way in the movies! I would appreciate your husband for having noticed such things.
Generally, girls prefer wearing it that way. It looks elegant on them. I have never seen a guy wearing it that way and hence feel that it will look odd if your husband tries wearing it that way. As your husband has rightly said, I used to wear it that way to protect the glass. As I have damaged several watches by just hitting against something unknowingly.
According to me, the right way of wearing a watch(for men) would be wearing it in the right hand with the dial in the outer side of the wrist.
have a great day!!

people have different ways of expressing themselves through wearing... however, there could be factors involved with the generation they were used to such as acting the traditional way he had brought with up when he was still young... to make it short that is part of his mannerism on how he wear his fashion sense...
