I was wiping him after his shower. He was so excited and jumping on my face to lick. Suddenly his teeth got scratched on my nose. But it was a small scratch like a punctuation "," comma. And i saw the outer skin little open and a blood seen but not actually coming out. Blood is stagnant. He already had rabies shots, still do I need to go to doctor to get TT or get vaccinate myself and him. He is 1.5 years old. Thinking what to do?.

If he is not in contact with other dogs and has his normal rabies shot you have nothing to worry. You could do the normal thing one does when there is a hurt which I am sure you must have already done before raising this topic for discussion.

You had mentioned that your dog had already got his shots but now who got the vaccination you or the dog? If it is you then why at the Vet's clinic. Confused

Hi allknowing, Its me who got the TT injection and no vaccination for dog. Here in our vet clinic, they have these vaccinations incase if any human has dogs or any animals bite. The first day when we take the dog, they give us all instructions and if we worry when a dog bites, then they can readily come to vet clinic for vaccination that is even for humans. Think I did not clearly mention that

Hi allknowing, You are right he is complete home settled and doesnot go out except for his walking. Moreover he got all vaccinations done. I cleaned myself with Hydrogen peroxcide and finally went now and came back from the vet. Got vaccinated and feeling relief now.

I often get scratched by my dogs when we play and I have no problem with that. I keep my tetenus jabs up to date (they last ten years here in the UK) in any case but luckily we don't have rabies.

Hi Besthope, I think you are worried so it is best for you to see your doctor and check if your jabs are up to date. I'm sure you are all right, but for your own peace of mind it is best to get a check up. Injury is not only physical but in your mind as well so both need to be 'healed'. Take care. Smacksman

Hi smacksman, Yes he does scratch me with his nails, but not with his teeth so far, which was by accident. So a lite blood was seen, so am worried if it needs to be vaccinated or not. He has rabies shots and healthy, so thats thinking if i have to go to vet and get myself vaccinated.

I would not worry too much about it, but would still go to the doctors for a quick check up. If your dog already has his shot, I think you are fine on the rabies front. You might want to get a shot for TT though.

I think it's safe as long as he has completed rabies shot. But for your your peace of mind better bring to the doctor as he is the authority in terms of health problems. Better safe than sorry.

Yes, I would absolutely go to the doctor its better safe then sorry, As they say. I'm sure your fine and they will give you some antibiotics. Just take the medication the doctors prescribes you and follow the instructions exactly. You will be fine but like I said it cant hurt to get checked out, Atleast for a piece of mind its worth it and if you have insurance, Its not like its gonna cost you anything. Get Checked Out Bro, Will keep ya in my prayers!

hi there best! i still think you should go to your doctor for check up. This is so that you will be given anti rabies meds or anti tetanus meds. Make sure your dog also has the proper vaccines so that you the pet owner and any person around that dog is protected :)

I would say you should be fine as the dog already has rabies shots and well as long as your dog doesn't have the signs of rabies which I am assuming not at least from you post of what happened. As long as you clean it out and make sure it stays clean you should be fine if and sign of an infection shows up then you should go to a doctor. As dogs mouths have different germs than us but over all have cleaner mouths you should be okay. Hydrogen Proxcide should clean out any nasties that might of gotten into the cut.

Hi dark_joev, Thanks much. Yes he has rabies shot done on time. He is active and healthy as well. I cleaned with hydrogen peroxcide and cut is cleaned well. I dont see any signs of infection. But I would visit him tonight to make sure if its not effective and my dog is not affected as well. Thanks, I find it helpful

Best to consider having second opinion from the professionals before regretting something worst to happen. Okay,it's just a small scratch and your dog had rabies shot, but, extra caution won't harm either.

Unless you are absolutely certain of the dog's owner, it would be a wise decision to consult a doctor. It could be nothing, but caution and safety are not something to fool around with in dog bites of any kind.

when a dog scratch you on the upper part of your body it was dangerous, i may suggest you to go to a doctor to let them check it up, dogs rabies are kinda strong and you should protect yourself and be sure that you won't be infected....

If it were me and my dog and I knew he was vaccinated, I wouldn't. If you want to be sure, just double check his rabies. The first shot usually only last a year so just make sure its current. I doubt your dog has rabies though, as you would know if he does. My dog bit me one time because I got in the way of him and another stray. He didn't mean to bite me, he didn't even realize it was my arm. It was really scary for me, but I was more scared than hurt. But I don't think I even was nervous about rabies or anything. Things like that are scary though :)

Hi neenie, You are right. He just got vaccinated some 5 months ago. So he dont have rabies for sure. Yes, you know what after he scratched me and seeing me tensed he got so dull. I really love dog, they are best in showing love and care back. Though I was upset as well, but his love made me happy.
