of course Dhoni.I have seen only three captains winning the world cup.Steve Waugh,Ricky Ponting and now MS Dhoni.Being an Indian the last world cup won by Dhoni is my favorite one. Also I like Steve Waugh as a captain but not Ponting.Steve Waugh is a real hero. And MS Dhoni the "Magician".

very true, no doubt that its All magic of Dhoni which lead INDIA to such a empatic victory and what a great victory for the team.
I like Kapil dev too as he did played crucial knocs when needed and it was then hard time for the INDIANS those days.
Arjuna ranatunga too came in that category as he gives the new shape to sri lankan cricket. Same is true about Imran khan.
It was south african who give aways prestigious world cup to stev waugh and it not more than that.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is my favourite among this list but I would be more happy if Saurav Ganguly could've won in 2003 who is my all time favourite caption. What Dhoni has is wide fortune and got a good team which has been created by Saurav Ganguly. I would like to say to stay calm and cool in tough situation makes him more successful than Saurav. Otherwise Saurav too could have won. He was tragic hero as during his time Aussies were nearly unbeatable and he couldn't keep himself cool during tough situations which prompts silly mistakes. Otherwise both are nearly same but Dhoni's success is wide- A T20 World Cup, ODI World Cuo, IPL, Champions League all have been acquired. Dhoni mentioned he has won these feats but still he has left to gain- he wants to win them once more. Think! Thats his new target

Dear Jaffna,
All the Captains except may be RIcky Ponting were great. Ricky Ponting's success was because of his team. He had inherited incredibly talented players. He did not have to do anything. They were like machines.
Dhoni is a great captain. but I must say that my best Captain would be some one else. I have two actually. Imran Khan for Pakistan and Arjuna Ranatunga for Srilanka. Imran Khan has been the best Captain ever for Pakistan so far. Under him the team performed miracles. He was inspirational and he led by example. And no one else could replace him. He was that powerful. His team believed under him that they could win the World Cup and they did.
Arjuna Ranatunga managed to build a team from scrap and. He too was captain cool, much like Dhoni. He managed to get people to perform to their ability. He was also quite intimidating to other teams....He got Sanath Jayasuriya and Kaluvitharana to open and it was under him that Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas flourished.
Kapil, Dhoni and Border is not far away. Kapil comes next because his team defeated arguably the best West Indian team and plus he managed to defend a small total. Dhoni is next. He had the right mix of teams and he managed to get the best out of a flawed team. And plus he led by example.
Alan Border too did a wonderful job, by forming a team from scrap.

Steve Waugh and Dhoni. Waugh did not need a coach to help him and his slower ball was an innovation that worked very well.Steve never gave up and would fight to the very end. He has played some great fighting knocks and his bowling gave Australia many a crucial break through.Hie ploy of mental dis-integration of the opponent was very successful until he came up against our own Ganguly.
Dhoni comes second. He is tough and is very aware of what is happening. He believes in making things happen and rarely allows the game to drift.

Well, while I do not have any favourite captains as such. Yet, I liked the captaincy of Kapil Dev and Allan Border. Imran Khan's and Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy have also been good.
Yet, one cannot say anything less about captains Arjuna Ranatunga, Steve Waugh and the remarkable Ricky Ponting under whom Aussies won 2 consecutive world cups in 2003 and 2007.

This worldcup is the one which my home nation won the worldcup and I was able to watch it live.Even though I was unable to watch Kapildev lifting the worldcup as live, but i have wathced its recap many times as its the first worldcup win for India.
And my favourite is Kapildev, because he won the worldcup against strong westindies team that too with a small team which has not much star value.
Dhoni's this team is different from that one because, this new team was well talented to win the cup, and all are big professional cricketers.expected to win the cup and hey have done it in style.

I would say "Kapil Dev".
It was his belief and confidence that today cricket has spread in India to this extent. He single handedly won the semi final of that world cup and everyone knows that he is courageous and straight forward.
No doubt Dhoni is captain cool but still most of his achievements depends on his luck.
It was "Kapil Dev" whose charismatic performance inspired Sachin Tendulkar and he is serving the country today.
"Kapil Dev" is the best as a captain, as an individual and as a son of the nation.
Today we are saying Dhoni is captain cool and he has won the World Cup for us, don't forget there are chances that the matches in the World cup were already fixed. Yes, I don't have any proof but if you see the result of the world cup matches, you will feel that there were a few "ifs" and "buts" in the performance of teams and sometimes, it was too much..
E.g. Pakistan against new zealand for last 5 overs, Pakistan missing Sachin's catches, India losing 9 wickets for 30 runs, Sri Lanka excluding Mendis in the last match, India/England tie, etc..
