Yes there is and the superviosrs say they can't stop her! I work in a college kitchen as some of you know. Anyway we have this woman who steals food and sneaks it out in a big tote bag when she leaves work! It is ok to take left overs from work but she is taking food for baking, food that has not been prepared yet and taking food off the food line before it even gets sreved to the students! Everyone knows she is doing it and has for along time! Some of the other employees will put things back if they see what she put in her bag! It doesn't stop her! She should not be doing this! She is married but her husnabd is so lazy to go find a job which he has not had in like 3 years becuase he just quit for no reason the last job! It doesn't help her 27 yr.old daughter still lives at home and doesn't help out in anyway! So what would you do if someone was stealling from work?

May this woman doesn't want to do it but have to do it for he family to survive. Even so, it is still wrong. Either she should be fired from work or should be suspended for doing this. This sanctions won't do her any good so she better know what's good for her or not. The company or the management of the kitchen might have problems with their stocks if she won't stop this.
As for my work, since I am new in the company, I was only informed that other employees really love to put their grocery in our pantry but when they saw that their stock got less everyday because someone is stealing and eating it up, they already stopped stocking up food in our pantry. That ended the happy days of the food thief..

Unfortunely we have to have our stock room, freezer and coolers always full of food! I wish this woman could be fired or suspended! I don't think that will ever happen! Everyone has seen her do it and has reported it! The head of the depertment won't deal with. He gave the job to the top supervisor. Mark, his name, is being super nice about it! He is a nice guy to begin with but when he gets super nice it is a bad thing! I don't see an end to this in a long time or never!

Hi, blue65packer. It really seems like this woman needs some financial assistance when it comes to having food in her household. It is a shame that her daughter and husband will not work. It makes her feel stressed out. She is now placed into a tight situation of where she is trying to make ends meet for her family. Stealing is very wrong and she should not take away from the company's food products. When she steals, it takes away from the college students and staff as well. This is a serious issue here and I hope that someone will be able to talk to her privately about this. I believe that she should be spoken to about this. She obviously does not have enough of money to buy food and she may not have enough of food in her home to eat at all. Her husband and daughter should get off their lazy behinds and try to at least provide some kind of financial assistance to their home, so that everyone can be properly fed. It is not fair that this woman has to work hard and then steal, just to feed herself and her families stomach. This is a very sad situation here and if the husband or the daughter does not try to help out, it will only get worse. Besides, if anyone should be busting their behind working, it should be her own husband anyhow.

This is a story that still is on going! She is still stealing food from work! No one wants to deal with it! Some are feeling sorry for her! Her husband still won't look for a job. Daughter has a job but mom won't ask her to help with the bills and pay rent! Were they live now is in a house at the college we work at. She begged for cheaper rent and got it! Were she lives there are other homes that are rented out and everyone has one pet. She convinced the landlord to let her keep two pets when she really has 4! Two cats and two large dogs! I don't think she could get assitance for rent and food stamps! With a almost 30 something daughter living at home and 4 pets! One look at them, the goverment isn't going to help them out becuase they think they don't need it!! I hope someone will talk to her about the problem which started long before her husband decided to quit his last job and has not looked for a new job! We knew she was doing it but it only got worse since! I think she could use professsional help! If not that she should throw out the daughter and husband! that would be abetter idea! LOL!

Wow!! She is deliberately doing things like this and no one seems to want to Stop her? Is she making everyone feel Sorry for her since her husband is not working and her daughter lives at home? I can remember back when I used to work for Circle K there was a girl who worked there who was always helping herself to stuff and it is a wonder they never seemed to bother saying anything to her as well.

What you said is so true! Other people have complained about it and no one will deal with it! If our supervisor wasn't so super nice,a bad fault of him, this would not be happening! If mark would get pissed off enoogh at the woman stealing food he might do something about it! I seriously doubt that will happen!

Your supervisors "can't" do anything about it, or won't do anything about it? To me, if it is a private contractor to the college, then you've done pretty much all you should be doing. That is, you have reported it to your supervisors. It's not your job to make the supervisors do theirs.
If you are all state employees, then you do have more of a case to do something about it. If she's a state employee, then she is stealing from the taxpayers.

Our supervisors don't do anything because they don't want to! Especially the supervisor named Mark! Mark is a nice guy and has become a really nice guy! A fault of his, unforunetly! The college I work for is not a state run college. It is a non-profit college. So I don't think she can be fired for being a state employee.

this is happening in our office too. we suspected the people who cleans the area but nobody caught them in the act yet.
never happened to me personally but lots of my officemates complained about their food being stolen.
actually there was this employee before whom they caught stealing in our pantry. she's no longer part of the company and i dont really know the real reason why she left. some says because of the stealing issue.
sad to think of them because they're working so they can buy something to eat, not steal something so they can eat..

Stealing is a crime, and this case, the woman has to suffer the consequences of her wrong doing. If she is left unchecked, she will take it to mean that what she is doing is right or that you are all tolerating this kind of behavior. I think she should be reported to the right person who can give her the punishment she deserves. What she is doing is not good.

She sure is doing something wrong and something should be done about it! I wish and so do alot of the other employees, she'd get fired! It is wrong and this woman knows she can get away with it! I wish I culd report it to the right person! If I do or someone else did we would have to go over the head of the supervisors! That would mean trouble for me or the others! We could get fired instead of the stealer! So I have no idea if this will ever end! It is a crazy situation!

I would report someone for stealing from work but what can you do if even the people who run the place, do not do anything about it? Her husband and daughter should get out and get a job to help her because one day she is going to get in major trouble for stealing for all of them.

This situation would not be like it is if the husband found a dang job! He is too lazy! He likes seeing his wife support him! The daighter has a job but mom treats her like a baby! This is why at 27,this woman is still living at home and not helping out! The head of food service won't do anything becuase he put it on our supervisor's shoulders! Mark, the supervisor,is being a super nice guy! He is nice to begin with! This is on of his bad traits! I hope one of these day this woman gets in trouble! This is not right at all!

The biggest problem with this the head of Food service knows about it but won't do anything. He put it all on Mark, the supervisor's shoulders! Mark won't do anything becuase he is a nice guy and being way to nice in this situation!Unless this person ticks him off so badly he then ,might do something! Until then he won't do anything! I won't doubt some other people where I work do take food home but it is usaully just leftovers! We know better! If it was any other place we'd get fired!

I am not really sure about that,I guess it depends on why she is doing that.
So at least I would take her beside and talk to her to have more clearness

She has been talked to and it doesn't do any good! She keeps doing it and was even doing it before he lazy husband still had a job! She's doing to save money on grociers and make her lazy butt husband happy! This would not be happening if he had a job and mom didn't treat the daughter like a baby! I wish we could fire her but as long as nothing is done, this will continue! Our supervisor is a nice guy and is being way to nice with this! This makes the sitaution even worse! Not good situation,at all!

what could an employee do if the supervisor said he cant do anything? if you have the guts to bypass your supervisor then do it and report it to the top management.
i agree that to take such a measure would appear extreme. why not try to talk it out with her? or with her friend? does that employee have friends. if she has, might as well course it through her friends.

We could go to the higher management but we could get in trouble! All of us,in the kitchen would love to do this! Our superviser ia a very nice guy but since this started he has become to nice! A bad trait of his ! Until are supervisor has a change of mind or the food stealer does something even worse,I see nothing changing!

wow. I also have plenty of experience regarding stealing. My grandmother's helper steals a lot from her house. And it is also food. Maybe she brings it home for her family at home too. To come to think of it, it's just too much... since we are paying her everyday. She also took home some curtains and as my grandmother visited their place, she saw her very own curtain hanging in somebody's window pane..hahaha
Another helper too sneaks on my mommie's telephone. Then telephone bill arrived, we we're so shock to receive the bill!! My mommie can't believe it, since she was only the one using the telephone in the house... until we found out and caught that helper using the phone. She worked hard and served my mommie for how many months just to repay those telephone bills he made - calling only her meaningless boyfriend.

I work in a hospital and we are having the same issue and some. Anything left out or any locker left without a lock is targeted. Anything from an opened drink, to sandwiches, to pocket change, to over 100 bucks has been stolen. Our supervisor put up a note saying we understand these are hard times due to the economy but it doesn't mean we have to add to it. I found out who one of the people were and I let my supervisor know. If anything, I would go the route I did. Tell them to ask first because you'd be surprised how many people will say o.k. If they continue without permission, notify somebody.

The economy is bad but that is not a good reason for this woman to be stealing food! If her 27 yr old daughter, who has a job, would contribute to the groceries or even pay rent ,that would help! If the husband would get off his lazy butt and look for a job that would help, too! Everyone knows this woman is doing this and she has been reported to our supervisor. He won't do anything! He is a nice guy and in this situation is being super nice! One of his bad traits! Anyway I wish something would be done about this but I don't think it will happen for a long time, if at all!

Wow, this lady has some serious issues! I know she would be trying to help her family, but if her family isn't helping back she shouldn't be stealing food for this! I believe that she should be fired for what she is doing. It might be a little extreme, but maybe cut her ties with the family for a while until they learn how to get off their lazy butt. I would tell her something and lock up all the food before she leaves for work. She should be reported for this.

One of the reason's the husband and daughter are the way they are is,the mom/wife is a enabler! She always gives excuses for why her husband can't find a job. With the daughter mom doesn't want her to grow up and treats her like a baby! Neither sitauation is right! With getting her fired is not going to happen anytime soon! The head of Food Service knows she is doing it but won't deal with it. Our supervisor under the head of Food Service won't do anything and he can if he wanted to! Mark, the superviser, can be to a nice guy! To much in this case! He feels sorry for her so he won't do anything! This is not right,at all!
