Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! It still works! It takes ages because you have so many posts but you will be blue one day! Too many are minusing for none of the reasons that you mention Hatley but simply because it is the only way that they can can get their kicks!

So well deserved and underdeserved Mrs. Hatley! You if anyone deserves to be on the top of all charts with a BLUE star. It does take longer to achieve the lift in points but sadly some play with ours. We have no choice as good people to continue to be us and hope someday the abusers stop. If not oh well, Mrs. Hatley you have shown me to remain as we are and continue doing our best. Sadly some neg simply out of spite, not much we can do outside of never allowing anyone to change our characters. You are a fine example Mrs. Hatley!

HI! I am in the same boat as you are. My rating is almost similar to you for months together, it neither decreases nor increases. I do hope that my good friends here rate me positively and some of them forget to rate.. I enjoy love and respect of my friends here rather than star rating and I know I have some very good friends here.

You can count on me Hatley, I always rate the discussions I respond to with a plus sign. And the responses after that too. It is a habit with me now to do this as it helps that person along. That is of course, unless it's just downright nasty or someone looking for money. There are too many people here who just don't bother or rate with a negative for their fun because they don't agree. It's a shame they have nothing better to do but create havoc.

Mine was red for some days, next suddenly it became yellow, and for about a month is is still yellow, may be due to my less activity here, i have many comments to be made on responses to my discussions, some are yet to be resolved.. Hatley I do not know how your star ever dropped to a 9 as you are not very opinionated in your responses and never confrontational. You just sail along never rocking the boat. I never check my star as first of all I really speak my mind. I give my opinion regardless whether some members do not agree (or even like what I say) with my views which attracts trolls and all their friends who all go on a campaign of negging (-) every post. In other words I do not think the star is a true indication of one's reputation as it can be too easily manipulated.

I don't know why it is the way it is Hatley. If anyone should have a blue star, it's you and many that have blue stars absolutely do not deserve to have them. My own star has been 93 for a while now, I was once blue too. It has gone to 94 for a day ...twice I think but it goes back within 24 hours

The only time I minused anyone is when I saw someone that was just plain rude and offensive with no contribution other than spite. If I don't like their opinion, I don't do anything. I routinely, plus the person I'm responding to and when the entire discussion appears after I submit, I try to take time to plus the other respondents. Although I don't care about the color of my star, it is nice to see it rated highly!

Since the rules say we are to rate discussions, I've made it a habit to rate BEFORE I reply on EVERY discussion/response/comment. I read the discussion & if I decide to respond, the first thing I do is hit the + button. If somebody takes the time to respond to one of my discussions they automatically get a + from me. If I don't agree with what they have to say, I just pass them over & do "nothing". Some people say things that don't make sense or I can tell they didn't even read the discussion before responding & then I hit the - button. It has ALWAYS amazed me around here how fast a star can drop & how long it takes to go up. I PO'd one person not long after I first started & mine dropped 3 points overnight. I've read that it takes 15 hits to affect a star. I find it hard to believe I ticked off 45 people that night mine dropped. Maybe I did, but I seriously doubt it!!!! I TOTALLY AGREE with you that EVERYBODY should make it a top priority to rate EVERY post they come in contact with!!!! And I think they need to learn that the - button is NOT there to show disapproval of a response!!! I consider doing nothing as showing my disapproval as I'm not upping their rating. Then there are some people who disagree with me who do it in a way that's so well said that I just have to give them a +

I do understand the milestone discussion being deleted. I have had that happen and as a matter of fact I had the first reponse to this discussion taken away cuz MYLOT thought I needed to log in. It's no wonder I don't do much on mylot any more. This is the second time and they don't seem to understand my personal problems. But as it goes, you are right. Hang in there, hugs, quita

After all the discussions about how a member's star rating has gone down, it is indeed refreshing to read about the increment. Like mysD mentioned, you, obviously would take a longer time to push it up even by 1 as you have more than 40,000 under your belt. Let's all hope that we all can be responsible in our rating system and NOT abuse it. Earlier today, I left a comment on one discussion in which one responses said 'You can use the neg button if you don't agree with the member or you disliked the member', Gosh...horrors of horrors . I corrected him straightaway that that should not be the case.

Hi Hatley: Terrific!if anyone deserves a ratings jump, it's you!it just goes to show, that even when you have a high point total,people that use the rating system for what it was meant for,can be a big help in raising a members star to somewhat where it should be. It just goes to show that we can have "some" control over those who for whatever reason use the rating system for their own purposes other than what it was meant for.I always said that if our responses are respectful and of substance, we should (+) those who took the time to respond to or discussions and should do so regularly.

Personally I am one to try and Rate especially if I feel it is worth rating. I feel rating is a very important part of being here, and can really effect the way someone is seen in here. The only times I have ever minused someone is if I feel they are being RUDE, or when it is just something I feel unworthy of being able to share in here. I often think too many times people have went on rampages here just because of someone disagreeing with them not taking time to really understand or wanting to relate.

I share your happiness for finally having one point added to your star rating. For most of us it is a laborious task to climb the ladder but going down is only a twist of the fingers. You are a blue star material and couldn't understand why you are still in the red. If only I have the magic power I would place you among the elite blues as it is long overdue for a person who has earned a gigantic credits to your name.

Hey Miss Hatley, I really understand your frustration. When I first joined mylot, like many, I neglected to read all the guidlines. So it took me a little while to realize what the rating system was. As you know, I am not a regular responder anymore because of health issues but I try and keep up with your posts and many more that I've grown fond of. As for rating, not everyone is a writer. But I will rate a positive if they put some real effort into their response. Anything less than 2 or 3 lines is not rated at all by me. I don't believe in a negative rating for anything but a vicious response. Sweetie, remember you are here for the interaction of all the wonderful friends we have come to love as a family. That is the only reason I won't let go. You are worth a thousand stars so just know that we love you. Leenie

You are right when you say that people minus rate for all the wrong reasons. It is a major flaw in the whole rating system but I don't know how MyLot could fix it. They can't really control about how people decide to use or misuse the rating system. I don't do a lot of posting here but I know I can post 20 good responses to various discussions and not receive any positive ratings, but just one post to a political discussion that certain people don't agree with and my rating will drop overnight. That is actually one of the reasons I became a little disillusioned with MyLot and don't spend very much time here. I can make much better use of my writing time on other sites where I don't have to worry about the whims of users that simply might not agree with a view I have on a subject, or even had on a subject 2 months ago. I always try to make a worthy response, on topic, never disrespect anyone, etc. but that obviously doesn't matter. I actually spend more time on MyLot reading discussions and responses than I do writing them. I read a lot of the work of people in my friends list and others that for the life of me, I can't figure out why they have the rating number that they do. Some that I just don't understand how they ever achieved a 10 rating and others that clearly deserve it but don't have it. I really don't think the system works the way they want it to and it probably never will. That's just the way it is...

I think the other way is also the same. It takes a while to increase it a point, it also takes a while to decrease it a point. For the longest time, I have been contented at being perfect. Only to realize that it was about to go down. It just took a long time to get to it. Hopefully I stay at one less than perfect for a long time.
