Do you get shaky when hungry?

I am starving right now... I am cooking some chicken breast and veggies for snack... I feel shaky when I am hungry like right now. I don't think I can make it until my husband home for dinner so I need something to snack on but when I'm hungry like this, my stomach will hurt if I only snack on the junk food. I thought now my son eats solid, I nurse him less so I can eat less but he still wears me out after nursing each time and I still have to eat a lot.

When I get shaky like that, it is because my blood sugar has suddenly dropped. I don't have diabetes but do have hypoglycemia occasionally. I then need to eat some kind of protein as soon as I can to get the blood sugar stimulated again. Also eating beans, peanut butter or even some buttered bread will help. I agree that any junk food will be counter productive. Get something nutritious into you.

I was thinking the same thing yoyo1198. It had to do with the blood sugar dropping. I try to avoid getting extremely hungry.

Hi. mermaidivy. Yes, I get like this from time to time. When I was in high school waiting for my lunch in line, I would shake lightly. No one would notice me, but I was very hungry. I also get like this at home. I usually will eat before I get really hungry.

It is important that you plan healthy snacks and eat enough at each meal. Try to make sure you eat foods that have protein, fat and carbohydrates all three. Drink enough fluids as well as the weather is getting warmer. It is time for me to prepare supper as well.

Wow! Where does the time go, GG? Seems like I just got up and now it is time for dinner! I lose all sense of time when I'm doing 'computering'.

Yes, it happens to me too. Rice is our staple food and I’m not too fond of it (due to over exposure, I think LOL) yet, at times when I’m REALLY STARVING, nothing seems to assuage the grumble except for a plate of steaming hot boiled rice. I’ve seen at times when I’m out shopping and all that walking around makes me hungry, all I want is to go home and have some good substantial home cooked food…the myriads of road-side temptations just don’t appeal to me. Worse is in the evening when I’m just back from office. Dinner for us is usually a late affair so around 7/7:30 in the evening, I’m really hungry yet that is the time when I can only have something light (so that I can have dinner later)…yet nothing that I eat does anything to make me feel full.

I normally have dinner around 6 - 6:30p.m but my husband has been very late home so I just can't wait thatlong and have supper on my own. When I'm out, if I am very hungry, I just have to spend some money to get something to eat even I don't want to because I would feeltoo weak to function.

Yes, this has happened to me several times in the past and at one time, it was quite worrying and I visited a nutritionist. It was discovered that I had a sensitivity to sugar-based foods and I stopped eating sugar. This included all packs of food that had sugar in and I know have to read the labels before I eat them. If I eat any sugar, even a small amount the same shakey feeling returns, but if I keep to my sugar-free diet, I feel better. I would advise anybody who gets this to visit their doctor and get to see a nutritionist, as it could cause health problems later in life... _Derek

You should not let starve your self! you should have 3 meals a day with some fruit/cheese/or what ever you like in betwin meals! maybe a glass of milk or a yogurt look after your self because on doing so you are as well looking after your baby!

Hello Mermaidivy! I understand you quite well. I have some raw carrots and lettuce. With some dressing, or just with lemon and salt. Or cucumber with chilly, plus pure water (half galon). Blessings!... Dainy

Hi Mermaid, i do feel the shaky just like you too. i always prepare some snack in my kitchen. i used to wake up in the middle of the night and that is the time i need the snack very much. i have dyspepsia too, so the doctor advised me to not make my stomach empty. it hurt if i am late in eating and my head will get dizzy because of it

Oh gosh yes, I get weak, shaky and dizzy if I skip meals during the day. I once had a friend take my blood sugar count and it was so low and that because I had nothing at all and it was 11:30am. So as a rule even if it is sugar free cereal I will make sure to have it for breakfast. With nursing the baby I can imagine it does drain you and if you do not eat properly the lactating will lessen.

My partner has this problem, too. Going too long without eating makes my partner shaky, faint and blood drains from the face. She finds eating chocolate or biscuits and a good cup of tea normally helps when she gets like this. I think it has a lot to do with the blood sugar limits getting too low.

Eatin chocolate does help but in my case, my stomach get upset if I eat this when I'm too hungry, when I'm a little hungry is okay but not when I starve.

I feel shaky too when I'm hungry. When I was nursing, I don't wait for my husband to eat because I easily get hungry. At times, I eat little before he arrives and eat join him so he will not feel bad eating all alone.

I haven't gotten like that for awhile. It has to do with blood sugar levels dropping. Try having a lot of little meals throughout the day. I have tried it and it works for me. Eat something healthy. If you are nursing, it is better for your son, if you eat something healthy also.

I sometimes get shaky when I haven't eaten when I should or if I exercise too much. I come from a family of diabetics and hypoglycemics, so this has become part of our lives.

It happens that I can feel very weak in my body, when I am hungry. I can feel dizzy and get a headache. To eat a banana helps up a bit. Best is to eat vegetable with fish or chicken to regain strength.

Nope I don't shake. Actually I've been so much used to being hungry now I don't feel anything at all. I used to starve myself to loose weight and now I'm so used to the feeling, I don't feel anything at all. Anyway I know that's not a good thing.

I have been there long time ago but I can't do that now because I have to feed my baby. I don't feel good about being starved, I used to be okay.
