why does paypal deduct 0.5% from my money and sometimes don't?

I've been receiving payments via Paypal since last year and I noticed that there were times that aside from the constant amount of deduction for the withdrawal process, another 0.5% is deducted from the total amount. I don't know if i have done something wrong during the process or is it normal at times??

It depends on what the sender of the money chooses when sending the money. I believe that if you pay for goods (like when you buy something on Ebay), then no amount is deducted, but if it is for services, then it is, but I am not 100 % sure. But you, as a reciever, didn't do anything to cause this, that's for sure!
