What do you do if your food order is wrong & you're home already?

Today, I bought lunch at Panera. For my side, I asked for baguette bread and they gave me a bag of chips!
I hate the chips but it's my fault for not looking before leaving...
Do you do anything when you return to the place to let them know (the next time you do go back) or do you let it go?
I'm letting it go because it's nothing big, just hated those chips & I was really looking forward to eating the baguette bread with butter.

I just had a similar experience where I bought several combo meals for myself, my immediate family and a few friends. I was the one who paid for evrything and ironically I was the only one who did not get my sandwich. Normally I do call the restaurant because I usually will get a credit for a free meal or several coupons that I can then use when I go back to that restaurant. I did not do that this time because we got so caught up in other issues that I forgot.

If my food order is not the way i want it and I am already at home, i will probably call the place i rdered from and let them know. If they are willing to fix their mistake i will go back. if they aren't willing I will eat the food any way.

It depends how wrong the order is.Im weird but lets say the person instead of a fries gave me a chicken sandwhich then I wouldnt mind. :D i would be like sweet! Most of the time tho i dont have the energy to return the order and just deal with it unless i find a thumb in my meal.

If I am able to take it back, I will. I remember my husband buying a sandwich from Subway. They cut the bread onto the wax paper, and the wax paper was into his sandwich. So, he kept it at the house for the rest of the day. The next day he returned the sandwich back to the sandwich shop. I think that they just refunded his money back onto his debit card though. I have gotten many wrong orders from the restaurant, and I may keep it or take it back.

That happened to us last week. We had ordered a pizza and they gave us the wrong one. Unfortuneately we didn't notice till we were already at home and we didn't want to drive all the way back so we ate it anyway. I guess we should have gone back, because it wasn't very good. Another time the same pizzaria made another mistake, they forgot part of our order and we didn't notice till we got back. We called them and complained and we got the things we ordered. From now on we are going to check the food every single time, we should have done that from the beginning.

Well i usually complain to the regional manager. And because of that i get a lot of free coupons/food.
I usually let them pass the first time but not the second. Its really hard to just forgive them if they just do it over and over again.

oooh, that really is annoying...you have a little fault but the big blame goes to them, you paid for your order correctly so they needed to give you correct service...I experienced that too, and like you I didn't go back because it was too far, but I never did once go back to that place again...

Panera has a lot of to go orders, So its understandable to an extent that they would screw up an order from time to time, Is this the first time its happen to you? If its happen before I would call there 1800 corporate number and I'm sure they would send you some kind of voucher.
I usually eat at the same exact restaurant they know me by name, I usually order the same thing... pretty boring guy right? Anyways they have yet to mess up my order, but if they did I would just bring the food back explain you gave me the wrong order and I would like what I had originally ordered.
Its only FAIR, I don't think its unreasonable to get the food order you want when your paying your good hard earned money, Def. Would take it back and get what I paid for end of story.
Did you ever notice when they mess up the order, Its always in there favor.. Usually when I order Chinese Food the orders come screwed up lots of time I will just forget it and eat it. I don't know if its the language barrier or what but they have a habit of messing up orders at least the places over here do.

If it was me then I would've returned to the place and told them to get me my correct order because i didn't pay money for someone to screw up my order. The reason i would've done that is because then they'll learn to be more careful and not give people the wrong orders.

If a restaurant got my oder wrong on a pick up, I would tell the store even if it's not a big of a deal. If I'm paying for the food I'll want what I asked. Especially if the food was not mines. For example if I was ordering for me and the boys on a Friday afternoon, and we order hearty meals, but the restaurant gave us vegetarian. I would get real mad, because they would of pass their anger on me. Then I'll have no choice but to complain to the restaurant, but I'll tell them in the nicest way possible. Especially if I'm a regular there because of convenience.
I like the fact that you let the situation go, it show's that you have character and is considerate. But next time that happens, I think you should mention it to the restaurant. AS long as you don't appear rude about it, you are safe. By safe I mean no one will spit in your food or do worse things to it, something that i find very funny. I don't know why most people get rude about their order with the restaurant's employees.

Yes, actually this has happened to me as well a couple of times, but i always take it already as it is.i mean, you are right, i should have checked it before leaving but since i did not... I won't in in to the hassle of going back to the place where i ordered.

There have been plenty of times where part of my order has been wrong, though I usually catch it before I leave or get too far from the place that I'd gotten it from so I can correct it easily...
However, there was one instance where I had gotten a lot further than that...
I'd gone to KFC one day (through their drive-thru) and was given the wrong order. I didn't notice it until after I'd left and had driven a few miles away (I had to make another stop before going home). Along the way I'd noticed something didn't smell quite right. You see, whenever I order chicken from KFC I tend to get it in original or crispy. I never get it in grilled as I cannot stand the smell of it. Anyway, the smell had gotten pretty strong by that point so I knew my order wasn't right.
I took a peek and sure enough they'd given me grilled chicken by mistake. This is when I'd noticed that they had also forgotten to give me some of my order as well. I wouldn't have worried about it, but it had been a pretty big order...not to mention no one in my family (my husband, kids, or myself) likes the grilled chicken from there.
Anyway, I had to stop off at home first, then I headed back to KFC with the order I'd been given. When I got there I thought I'd have to explain what happened, but I didn't need to as the employees there knew of the error they had made. The girl that handled the situation was very apologetic and corrected my order promptly, no questions asked.
I was so impressed by that I didn't mind making that second trip.
Happy mylotting!

This has happened to me frequently. I once got home with a Subway sandwich that was blatantly substandard and I was so hungry by then that I just ate it. Then I went online and submitted a complaint email to the company. I've done that several times. Most of the time I receive an apology in the return mail. A few years ago, some of the companies would send a coupon for $$ off your next order. They've stopped doing that.
We are receiving shoddy products and services so much now days that I wonder why some of the employees aren't just let go and better trained ones are not put into their place. This is one of my peeves. I just cannot abide incompetency. Seems like people no longer have any pride in their work and just do slap-dash jobs.

why not try looking up in the directory the phone number. even if you will not be going back to get what you really ordered, they have to know. or if you eat up there again, mention it to the manager. you will not invite trouble but they have to be informed.
