the image that you attached looks like a Tae Kwon Do.... and it performs a high sidekick....
i wonder why Tae Kwon Do kicks very high?
whereas, the average height of the opponents doesn't like that tall....
if you kick high, where is your target?
that is a common question for the LOW STANCED MARTIAL ARTS....

you are right about this. However kicking high can also be a way to excercise your body, especially helping in stretching your muscles.

It's never late to start martial arts. It will help you achieve a high level of physical and mental health and i think this is really important. Even if you are not so good at martial arts, you can only benefit from it.

and to take a note too that plenty of martial arts especially those arts that involve kicking high has an expiration too... i mean that when you reach the age of 35 thus, martial arts like that is not appropriate anymore....
for example Tae Kwon Do art has an expiration too, it is good if you on up to 20's of age but when your old enough, Tae Kwon Do is not necessary, thus, due to old age kicking high is dangerous to users.....
the only martial art which has no expiration is the art of Kung Fu.... the more the age is increasing, the more the practitioner becomes more better....

I think that is wonderful to have such people in your family. I would carry on the tradition if i was truly interested in it. I would not do it if I wasn't though.

Personally I would carry on that tradition...but that is me. As for you, well is it something you truly are proud of and enjoy? If yes then do it! If no then be your own person. Hope that helps.

If you like it then continue the tradition. Don't force yourself to learn something you don't like, but try to think about the benefits on what it can do for you.
