one of my favorite wedding songs is butterfly kisses by bob carlisle. the song is really very meaningful and sweet and i also hope that when i get married someday, this would be played while my dad walks me down the aisle. now, when i come to think of it, if this song has such an effect on me, how much more to the fathers out there? I wonder, what does fathers really feel when they walk their daughter down the aisle? It's been known in movies that fathers usually dont like the idea of their daughters getting married because it would mean giving her away. To fathers out there, can you please share to me your experiences or feelings about this?

unfortunately, i wont be able to walk down the aisle with my dad. he passed away last year and i can't imagine my life with out him. graduating college with out him, getting married with out him, i even had my debut with out my dad and i kept on thinking that time "what dad's here, how would he want me to celebrate my debut?" but since he's not around anymore, i still want this song to play on my wedding day as i walk the aisle.... alone.

Well, I'm not a father, but I guess because he's giving away his daughter to another man. He is not the 'male in the household' anymore to protect her. Her new husband has to. He has sort of lost control.
