Are You Addicted To Chocolate?

When someone says Chocolate do you just feel your mouth drool and your heart go where? Or are you one of those who might be allergic, or it gives you migraines, etc. to where you have to stay away? Or are you just one of those who chocolate is maybe once in a great while just when you have the urge? For me, I can honestly say Chocolate for the most part is a MUST have. I cannot really do without chocolate, and you can usually find some around my house usually anytime you look. My favorites would have to either be Milky Way, Dove Milk Chocolate with Caramel, Rolos, and Peanut Butter M&M's. Even with being Diabetic I have even told many doctors that I have a problem with Chocolate. Personally when there are shirts out there that say "Give Me Chocolate & Nobody Gets Hurt," this is about the way I really feel and when stressing like I was earlier today, there is nothing better. ~~TINA~~

Ia m with you on this one. I love chocolate! I find that I crave it at the times that I do not have any in the house. I like Three Musketeers, most types of M&M's and chocolate chip cookies. I was thinking about making cookies yesterday, but my husband has discovered that he may be diabetic and he has been keeping a close eye on what he eats and so I know he will eat them if I make them. I am hoping that I can survive without making any now.

Well for me, I have tried many of the Sugar Free chocolates out there due to being Diabetic and most of them either do not really taste that good or spike my Sugar levels more than regular chocolate. So for me, I have learned to limit the amount I will usually eat at one time, but keep some around for such times so I do not want to ever go overboard as well.

carol..My hubby has been having some issues with blood sugar so we have started eating sugar free chocolate. Russell Stover makes some excellent chocolates. My favorites are the pecan cluster, coconut, mints. Another thing I found, is when I eat the sugarless chocolate I don't crave 'the next piece' as much..just a little, lol. ritzz..I agree with you that chocolates are especially helpful when frustrated or sad or worried. In fact there is no time that chocolates are not good:)

God is extremely good to me in that I no longer need to go on a foreign holiday just to collect my quota of chocolates of which I think a world of. I have just discovered a place where they sell home made chocoltes which taste the same way as some that I have tasted brought from abroad. Lucky me!

Yes, homemade chocolates can definately be a Good thing. I know I have tried many different kinds in many different places and it seems like some of them are definately better than others, but an occassional splurge always seems to make it more worthwhile for sure.

Each country makes chocolates but they rave about Swiss chocolates. I have tasted Swiss Chocolates too but I liked the Belgium ones so also the Italian. New zealand also makes chocolates. Tell me Krause...which country does not? I have been to several countries and my main shopping was always chocolates!

I just got done eating a special dark chocolate Easter egg, yummy stuff. I can leave milk chocolate alone, give me dark chocolate. Tina with you being diabetic, you can get good sugar free chocolate, you never miss the sugar. I know even with you being diabetic you can still eat some, you have to be extra careful. I love the Dove dark chocolate. MM's dark chocolate is yummy too. I discovered the other day a Snickers Dark, that was good. Kit Kat dark is another yummy candy bar. After reading this I am so glad that I bought a small bag of Special Dark Easter eggs for me.

Well, the Diabetic chocolates actually will spike me worse that regular chocolates do, so I only get regular. Actually I prefer the regular ones more as well. Since I usually tend to keep chocolate around for Emergencies it usually will last me quite a while as well. I can make Bigger bags of M&M's last me usually a week.

I guess I am a little different than most mylotters on this discussion. I don't have an addiction to chocolate. It is nice to have, but I don't eat chocolate or candy in general all that much. I don't even like to chew gum lol. But when you need it, you need it. My craving would be more on the ice cream side every now and then, but hey everybody is different.

keisha..lucky you not to be addicted to chocolate! I can relate to your liking ice cream as I love it. I have managed to limit myself to the 120 calorie per 1/2 cup type. I love it even in the winter when it is cold.

even with a tight budget, I can't go on without buying chocolates, my favorite are Hershey's Kisses, and M&M's original milk and chocolate, Snickers, and Toblerone...I really get demented like when my brother eats my chocolates, especially if it's the last piece!!!

Well, I think Chocolate should be a necessity, and be lowered in price. It can be quite maddening and frustrating when someone eats the last of the chocolate and you have to go out and buy more. Sometimes wish it came in endless supply.

Hi Tina! I love to have chocolate, if someone offers it to me. I am not addicted as such and can enjoy it any moment. If someone is around me, I love to share the bar rather than engulfing the entire chocolate bar. I think it is one of the best gifts, which could be given to others.

I actually do not care for the Dark chocolates myself. I know that the Dove is better than some of the other ones, and I have heard that dark chocolate is usually better for Diabetics, but personally I prefer the milk chocolate usually myself. I actually just got thru eating like 4 rolo's and feel pretty good besides the touch of a migraine today.

Yep, I like chocolate. I like chocolate a lot. I usually buy some whenever I go to the grocery. But, I don't have withdrawal symptoms if I don't have any on hand. I'll take a free giveaway any day. My neighbor sometimes gives me chocolate between my trips to the store. Chocolate is a blessing, yes. But I can do without it.

Ah,yes! The ole heart definitely does the pitty patt when chocolate is mentioned. But, I must have the fancy type of chocolate to really have my taste for it quenced. Belgium or See's, either are great stuff. (You can order off line from See's. Oh, when I found that out!!) It is so nice to have around when the stress starts. With that guy living there you probably need to bring in a big supply, huh?

Well there are a lot of times when I am stressing or my Blood Sugars are going lower, or the times I get my migraines that Chocolate tends to be the first thing I go for. Also for some reason with going thru the change there are days I will often crave the chocolate more as well. Lately it has been anything with Caramel.

I do know people who feel that chocolate is a must have, my daughter is one. My son and I on the other hand don't really care too much for it. I can see how some really just have to have it, especially with so many varieties out today.

Well, chocolate does come in many forms, and can be costly depending on what type you are buying, and the brand as well. I know that there are chocolate out there that I would consider only the Rich can afford, but then there are some that I always have to have that are worth it for sure. Chocolate is a delicacy for mankind.

my favorites - my favorite chocolates
Hello tina.. I like the shirt's quote: "Give Me Chocolate & Nobody Gets Hurt" I'm a chocolate addict too. It's bad for my migraine though but I still eat them. I never run out of stock with chocolates because it's one of my comfort foods. I like M&M's too, Toblerone, Snickers, Reese, Hershey and a lot more. But those are my super favorites.

Well, you would think Chocolate would hinder most migraines? I have heard from a lot of people who it makes them worse, but for me maybe because sometimes my BG is lower due to being Diabetic it often helps. Lately I think it helps out with some of the nausea as well, but besides times like this I keep chocolate around just to be able to enjoy some without feeling need to want to go overboard as well.

Oh, yes, chocolates makes my migraine worst. But I can't help eating them. Thank goodness I only experience migraines when we have bad weather here (like cold then hot then cold) so, I still have those days to eat them without guilt.

Chocolates make your Migraines worse? I have actually heard that from quite a few people over time. I think it is interesting how most of the time it really seems to help mine especially if my BG levels are lower as well.

I am not addicted to chocolate, but it does live at my house in several forms. I guess that is why I do not obsess about it. If I walk to the refrigerator I have Dove Dark chocolate promises, I have chocolate chunks, baking chocolate, two or three kinds of chocolate syrup, hot cocoa mix, and cocoa, and an assortment of chocolate chips. We also must not forget the chocolate ice cream.

Well, I do try and limit myself to the amount of chocolate that I have and eat even when I have it around. Unlike my husband who can go thru a big bag of M&M's in just a couple of days it usually takes me at least a week. Chocolate is my biggest draw back especially when I have a headache coming on as it seems to help them.

I do love chocolates so that when I start eating I find it quite hard to stop. But I know this is not good for me figure and health. Too much of any thing is not good. For this reason I stopped buying chocolates lest I grow as big as elephant. I only eat chocolate whenever someone gives me but I don't buy myself.

Well, I try to limit the amount of chocolate that I have. It is a Good thing to try and limit my intake on it for sure due to being Diabetic but I also find many times when I do not have any around and any real access to any for a while it often effects my mood. Chocolate many times will help the way my mood is for sure.
