I am workaholic. I have poor stress management. When I'm tired, I take a powernap. Then I start working again. Most times, I take my stress out on food and drinks.
I am trying to start a new routine, to manage stress, but I'm a bit loss in coming up of what to do. Hopefully I can get ideas from you guys.
How you do manage stress?

If you are a workaholic, beware of getting burned out. There is a secret that will allow you to continue working long hours. The secret is to take one day in seven and do absolutely nothing. The act of getting bored for that one day will prevent burnout. A person has never been meant to work all the time.

Wow, thanks for the concern! :)
Well, I hate getting bored! I really do, because when I'm bored I start feeling sad.
So what I do is I sleep when I'm bored. I sleep boredom off.
Thanks for your last line, that motivates me to find more time for myself. :)

Hi Sweet. I am a workaholic too but based on my observations from the officers here in our company, they work terribly hard and end up getting coronary bypass. They have worked their way up to spend money for their hospitalizations that can actually be avoidable. I hope this can remind you to take care of your health.
As for the tips, i suggest that you get a massage at least twice a month. Tell your friends to patch you up in movie dates more often. Get a hobby like gardening. Greens can help soothe your stressful life. Every morning, i do yoga in my green getaway (it is actually a terrace which i jampacked with plants. It is so colorful now, you should see it).
Hope this helps! Take care!

Oh, no, no, no, I dont want to get sick. I was sickly as a kid so I hate hospitals. Thanks for reminding me, now I am more motivated to find a way to unwind. Hahaha!
Massage? Yes, great idea! I'd try that. I actually need that. :P
Gardening? Well, I guess I have to ask my mom to teach me. :) When I was little, I got frustrated that I can't seem to grow plants, so I stopped. But my mom is a great gardener, my dad too. I think its time for a serious talk with them. Hahaha!
Thanks a lot!

I stress a lot... I try to think about the bigger & brighter side of life.. I usually take it out on shopping. I save up & splurge at the mall. That's not good either -__-

Hehehe. Shopping is one thing I try to avoid. I'm scared to run out of pocket money due to over spending, which is a tendency when I'm in a store. Hahaha!
Thinking about bigger and brighter side of life huh? Yeah, great idea. Thanks!

you admit being a workaholic, so you have a real problem, learn to just stop for a while, pause and look around you or if your schedule allows you leave for a vacation break...stress management is different for every people, your the only one who can find what really works for you...so experiment...

Yeah, a real workaholic. I have had 3 office jobs, and I got the same feedback from my supervisors. That is, "Get a rest."
Yep, I have my plans now. As a consultant, I can't be out for too long, so I have made plans of short trips this year. :)
I hope it helps. :) Thanks for responding!

The first thing you should do is learn to prioritize better. Right now you are only prioritizing your work, neglecting time for yourself and rest. If you can put it in your mindset that you will also need rest and time, it will help you break of the habit on work.
After you learned that you need to rest. Think of activities that you really enjoy doing. Most of us, neglect our past hobbies because we tend to think that we outgrew them already. If you enjoyed biking in the past, then bike. If you enjoyed watching cartoons then do it. Rest is best served without the constraints of age and obligation. Give yourself a reward for doing that much work.

That first paragraph just hit me. You were able to describe how I am right now.
I'm taking your advice, I'll write down the things I used to do before, and see what I can do every now and then.
Biking, I'll have to get a bike, my parents never bought me one for fear that I might get hurt. But I did learn by borrowing my friend's. Haha!
Most times, I watch. Maybe I can get back to sketching, writing (again a job, but a paying hobby), and maybe swimming..?
Thanks for reminding me to take care of myself. :)

Stress management is not that easy particularly if you do not know the root cause of your stress. If you're worlkaholic, you may ask why you preferred working long hours than spending time for yourself, friends or family? Once you have found out the very reason or the root cause, then start dealing with that.
Take care of yourself. Money can't buy everything. Give time to treat yourself, and/or family and friends. You'll never know, they already misses you because you're too busy with your work. Learn how to balance your life and your work by setting your priorities and goals.
If you want to know how to destress, think of the things that you want to do in life if you're away from your work. Then start making that happen. An expert advised me to spend time doing exercises because and watch my diet. Good stress doesn't come with good mood but with a healthy living as well.
In my case, I love spending time with the people I love. Whenever I feel stress with my problem, I spend my time by watching TV/movies together and cooking (though I'm not an expert with cooking LOL).
Only you can determine how you can manage your own stress because you're the only one really knows yourself :)

To deal with stress I try to walk away from whatever is making me stressed out, if I can't do that then I just find something that I enjoy that can relax me. Days that I am really stressed out I tend to find myself on mylot venting.

What type of company are you working in? Is it legal firm? I believe stress come from the work we must do before its dateline. Maybe you should change the job you are working now to a more flexible job. Jobs like work at home are free from stress and tight deadlines. You can try unwind yourself from stress by listening to music or singing karaoke and hanging out with friends. You should be free from stress starting next week if you do so. Another thing, happy go lucky!

Hmm, yeah, I better try to think what can help me get the stressors out of my head. :)
I have the tendency to over think and over analyze things. It would be great if I can lessen it. Thanks!

Surprisingly to deal with stress i sometimes play video games which helps alleviate it somewhat. I also go to the gym/ go for a run or lift weights which helps. Also just giving yourself a few minutes a day with the lights either dimmed or turned out while listening to your favorite music helps you to relax and forget about everything for a while which helps to get your mind off things. Hope this helps.

Hey, I can relate. :) I am too a gamer. However, not so much anymore. I'm sharing the laptop with my siblings, I still haven't got the budget to get the desktop specs I really want. :P
I do think that playing relieves my stress. Now I miss playing. :(
I don't think I have enough time for a gym, but I'll try going for a regular run or jog. :) Thanks so much!

One of the most significant problems we human beings face as a general population is how to handle stress. The following are the 11 ways I usually do to handle stress, to wit;
1. TALK - I don't hold my feelings within. Usually I discussed my stressful feelings with my husband or with a friend whom I trust, who listens without being judgmental. Even If I can't change the current situation talking about it helps alleviate some of the tension I'm feeling.
2. ACT - I'm willing to take risk and make change. I try to change the stressful situation, or at least some part of it.
3. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY - I learn to listen to my body's signals and find ways to reduce the stress.
4. BE IN CHARGE - Another way to reduce stress is to find interest, hobby or activity where I feel In charge and call the shots.
5. DON'T OVERWHELM YOURSELF - Rid yourself of extra duties that aren't necessary or important.
6. GET AWAY - Sometimes a change, however small can do wonders for your spirit. Try to forget thing for a while, escape go somewhere.
7. PRIORITIZE - We may no be able to avoid all the responsibilities obligations we currently have, but we can learn how to complete them without resentment consciously choose how you will handle them.
8. EXTEND YOURSELF - Make your own life better by making someone else's life better.
9. MAKE SUCCESS HAPPEN - If you can't change the world, change yourself. We should learn how to love ourselves as we are, while we work towards our goal.
10. SOCIALIZE - Spend time with family and friends for love and support.
11. LEARN HOW TO BE HAPPY - One thing of all of life's winners have in common is a sense of well being a positive attitude and a realistic goals.

Getting active has done more to improve my stress management than anything I've tried. I work out five days a week. I take a strength training class two or three times a week. And I joined a softball team to get some time outdoors. It's done wonders not only for my outlook but also my waistline.

music really calms my mind and body =) I used to work on graveyard shifts dealing with irate customers, whenever I'm exhausted with stress, I listen to my favorite songs and enjoy a cup of coffee :) It helps me relax.
Powernap is also my dear friend. I cling to it most of the time, to keep myself beautiful =) haha! Maybe because I strongly believe that enough sleep is the only key to a beautiful skin =)
One of my secrets is writing, I write everything on a paper. It's such a relief to put all my anger and stress into words. It gives me pleasure to curse whoever I want on a piece of paper. (Just always remember to dispose them after.)
I hope some of my magic works on you =)
