Today I heard a new rumor that the Christians believe the world will end on May 21, 2011. Has anyone else heard this? I need to know I have a couple of big bills coming due on the first of June and this would allow me to stop worrying about them.
I don't know how most of you feel, but I do get a laugh out of all these doom sayers. I don't understand the big fasination about the end of the world. I guarentee when it ends so will all of us. Or do some of you think you can beat the odds? In a cave maybe?

What Christians?
According to this page: http://ebiblefellowship.com/may21/index.html , May 21st is Judgement Day (I guess you will be called to pay your bills by then) and Oct 21st is The End of the World (I wonder if there's a restaurant there like there is at the end of the Universe).

Haven't really heard that so-called rumor, well i'm a christian too... but when I read the page link above by Owlwings (thanks by the way)...man, it's highly preposterous! I'm not active in church or worship service whatever but I do read the Bible and I remember a verse there somewhere that the second coming of God (Jesus)will come or happen like a thief in the night... meaning NO ONE will know the exact time. Heck, not even the genius people in NASA can predict the end of the world. Period.

Really? Shucks, I was hoping to have some time without my annoying roommate before the world ended.
They really can't be serious, they're fools if they think they can predict the end of the world.
Remember the panic with Y2K? Nothing ever came of it.
They need to shut up and start focusing on more important things.

I don't believe in any of this bunk, and that's exactly what it is.
I went to a psychic many years back who predicted that I'd have 3 kids with this one guy and marry him too.
I had one child, we never got married and I haven't spoken to him in ages.
See my point? No one can predict anything.

I heard a woman on the radio say she saw a big truck painted with the info that it will end in 5/28. She stopped and asked the man some question and yes, he'd sold everything he had.
Now, what sense does that make? He can't take the money with him and those he sold his goods to won't be able to use them soon if he is right.
He said there are 30 of those trucks moving around the U.S. to warn people. Warn us? What the heck can we do about it?
Besides, nobody knows when the end will come, nobody but God.

Ah but I can tell you HOW it will end. The sun will start expanding until it finally consumes the earth. The planet will literally melt & be absorbed. That's how the world will actually end.
Life on the other hand is a different story all together...

Ha, Kharma! The radio show I heard this one was playing that song.
Uath, I recently got to see "Knowing", a movie the critics lambasted but I wanted to see. I finally got to record it for free and the world ending much as you've described--quick and relatively painless. It was a good movie and that sounds like a good ending for the earth. Cleansing it of everything artificial then eventually beginning again, perhaps. I wonder how many times this has happened?

I think you are right and by our constant awareness of the end we may very well hurry it along. If you watch the science and history channels on TV you can find the many ways to end the world and endless predictions of when this will happen. So I for one am signing off on this subject. Thanks

Hi savypat, I haven't heard this but I can guarantee you that all Christians don't believe it. Maybe it's the Jehovah's Witnesses again or some other small group. The born again Christians, as they like to call themselves, say that they are sure of Christ's return and the end of the world, but they won't set a date. Neither will the Roman Catholics or Anglican Catholics. This world will end, or this particular incarnation will end, for all of us when we die. True we now have the ability to destroy the human race and maybe we will, but it only means that we won't live here anymore. We are energy and energy cannot be destroyed, so we will continue to exist. Blessings.

No one but God knows when the world will end, and to try to put a specific date out there is completely idiotic. I don't know when the whole May 21, 2011 thing started, but it's crazy. Don't be too quick to believe everything you hear.

Yes, it's a fact that the end of the world is coming but no one knows when.We Christians believe that but you said it's a rumor, well as you know there are some people whom they think they know all/everything even knowing the exact date. There are some people too who loves to frighten others. If the world ends everything goes with it.

Lol..I have heard of it but you know what? People have been claiming the world is going to end soon for thousands of years.Yeah, the hell I know sooner or later its going to happen but no one shouldn't predict anything like this. It's so ridiculous.

I haven't heard about this rumor. I don't think it got far. I highly doubt this is true, haven't they been saying this for years that the world was going to end? Enough is enough, stop obsessing over this is what I say to those people who keep coming up with this. They even made a crappy movie out of this 2012 thing. It's a marketing gimmick almost. Do they really have reason to believe this or are they just going crazy with all this hype that leads to nothing. I suppose its possible, I believe anythings possible, but unbelievably unlikely.

No, I haven't heard that but I think depending on how deep you read into it, the world could end for some individuals. I mean that some people will naturally die that day so for them the world did end that day. This is the only way I read it or at least to keep my sanity.

I find it all pretty amusing. I don't doubt the possibility of the world ending or being greatly altered by some huge natural disaster or by mankind..whatever. There is no way to predict it and I find these things amusing at best. A lot of people believe the whole 2012 thing. I know a full fledged Mayan and he says the Mayans don't even feel that the world will end in 2012! I haven't heard this latest one about May 21, 2011. If you hear anything concrete, please PM me. I would take all the money that I normally put away for monthly rent and bills and take the family on final fun adventure.

I saw a write-up about this one on one of the news sites...CNN and NBC carried it I think. The Bible says that the earth is going to be consumed with fire so maybe that means we're going to blow ourselves up. Nothing we can do about it if it comes in May or December or whenever. The "doomers" have been predicting the end of the world ever since they mininterpreted Revelation. I've not heard any of their explanations why their foresight was fallible.

I don´t want to ruin your happiness, but I think you had better be getting the money to pay those bills. I know you´d be SO glad if the world ended just in time so you don´t have to pay them. But you know the hardship of life: you won´t get what you want.
I´d hate to live on a cave. I want sun, a good bed and bathroom and a lovely sea such as I saw this year during my vacations. No cave for me, thanks. You can have it
Happy posting until the end of times!
