I have been deprived to do a lot of things.
I dont know how to swim, to play soccer, football, how to ride a bike and stuff. I dont know how to cook, i even haven't gone to a different country.
I feel like there are a lot of things i'd want to learn about but i can't because i'm being deprived. If i could i would. Really.
So does the things i do not know about... Do they make me an Idiot?
For not knowing them? .

not knowing something does not necessarily mean one is an idiot.. if you are already aware that you don't know a thing, you can do something about it (e.g. read about it, or ask someone about it).. what i'm saying is, not knowing things make us much eager to learn.. and you'll find out that - the more you know, the more you'll realize you know less.. :)

yes... i know that feeling of eagerness to learn.
I love knowing and understanding things.
but it's hard because i don't have to time and just play around. that's why i said i feel like i'm being deprived. i have to grow up fast and have a great job for my family.
but thank you for sharing your thoughts!
i appreciate it.

You are not an idiot if you had the drive and willingness to learn. If you stop trying, then you become one. You need to allot time for this endeavor by cutting some playing time. It is not right to complain of depravity when all you had to do is decide to do something and stick to doing it until it is done. Playing around is not productive..so quit complaining and start learning! Good luck, my friend.

What? An idiot??? You should be the happiest person in the world!
Listen, we all don't know something - it's absolutely normal. But instead of complaining for not knowing many things, we have to learn them. Now, if you had nothing left to learn, I think your life would be quite boring, wouldn't it?
But you have plenties of things to learn, so start now!
Let's be rational: one thing after the other. So, what do you mean you are "being deprived"? Swimming is not as difficult as it might seem. I think you just need an instructor, that's all.
Don't worry about sports - you just have to find the one for you. For example, I suck at soccer even if I've played it for three years, but I'm good at volleyball.
Cooking can be learnt without many difficulties: just start from the easy stuff. And about the last thing, travelling, I think you should look for something like a low-cost airline or a last minute flight.
Sorry I can't give more advice, but I can't understand why you can't do all these things. Anyway, have a good day and remember: you are NOT an idiot! :-)

haha yes it would be boring if we know everything!
i like learning and understanding stuff but well i can't. because... i don't have the time to play around or something. i have to grow up real fast, focus on my studies and get a great job right away. it's all for my family. my dad's gonna retire soon and i am the first child. so the responsibility is too heavy.
but i will... i will strive to make time for my self. to experience things. thank you for sharing your thoughts! i'm happy you did. :)

Ignorance is not the same as stupidity. All of us are ignorant in one way or another. Nobody on this planet knows everything. The fact that you are hungry for learning may even mean that you are smart, because that is usually a sign of intelligence.
Learning has no saturation point. Learn everything you can, but don't force yourself. Learn to love learning -- I think I don't need to say this to you because you already do.

I don't that this necessarily makes you an idiot. There are some things that I don't know how to do, but I don't feel that it makes me an idiot. I don't feel that this would make anyone an idiot. We all know how to do different things. The knowledge that you have is different from mine, but we're stupid or idiots for it.

Just like you have a lot of things you do not know, I am sure, there are also a lot of things that you know. Now, focus your attention on the things that you know, and you will see yourself very far from becoming an idiot.

I really don't understand what you mean by 'being deprived'.
Do you mean you are poor or you are disabled?
From your post, I assume you mean poor. Being poor should not prevent you from learning things that you want to.
I learnt driving just 2/3 years ago, and I only learnt to cycle when I was 15. I don't know how to swim, but I am learning and I hope to be able to swim by end of this year.
Lastly, not knowing things don't make anyone an IDIOT. Like 3honor said, those who don't want to learn, those are idiots.

oh no i'm not poor. or anything like that... i just have this tight family ties that chains me to my responsibilities. as what i said to 3honor, i feel deprived because i have to grow up fast and not screw up. no time to get to workshops and stuff. ugh.
but thank you! it's good that you're doing well with your life. i'll strive hard so that i would be successful too. and i think by then... i would have time for my self.
thank you so much for sharing. i appreciate all of you.
it's the first time i joined a community and a lot of people shares. :)

Not knowing things doesn't make you an idiot! Being able to admit you don't know something actually makes you intelligent in my opinion! People who are really idiots are the ones who think they know something that they really don't know anything at all about! Not everyone lives near water so they never learn how to swim. Some people have not learned how to do something because they never got the opportunity to learn for one reason or another. If you really want to learn how to swim or play football or soccer, then you just need to ask someone to show you. It might not be as easy as showing a child how to do it, but it is never too late to learn!!! As far as traveling goes, it could be expensive and you might need to get a passport, but if you are able to save money then you should be able to do that eventually! Think positive! It will make a world of difference and you may find that you can do some of the things you want to do but never thought that you could for whatever reason! Have a great day!!!

...Hi there guypersona, I am going to try this once more, my first post to you was garbled up for some reason or deleted, who knows? So welcome to the ranch, enjoy yourself. I have no idea how old you are, but besides that you are alive, so if the things you have outlined are important to you, then you should do them. There are many things that I am sure you know how to do that others may not. Have you ever just read the dictionary, there are so many words in there that I have never come across and more than likely will never come across in my lifetime. The world is full of knowledge. Are you happy, then you are doing well.
I do not think that you have to know everything or be able to do a whole lot of things to be considered smart or intelligent. We are all human and have shortcomings and also many talents. The most important thing I do feel, is that you love yourself and that you are your own best friend. Take care and forget the word idiot. "o) Thanks.

hee. i once said to myself that i will memorize everything in the dictionary. but it's just impossible so i dropped it. haha. i guess yo uare right. it doesn't matter much if i dont know some things... at least i do know some too. :)
thank you for sharing your thoughts! i feel a bit more confident now. thank you.

Hi guypersona
There are still a lot of things that I do not know. Like you, I also do not know how to swim or ride a bike. But that doesn't make us an idiot. I bet there are things that we do know that others don't know. If that's the case, does that mean everyone is an idiot?

Nope. Does not make you an idiot. Everyone has something they don't know, lots of things. Omniscience is not an adjective for man. =P
If you really want to learn things, there are ways to do so and you will find them.
One more thing. If you are thinking you are an idiot because of all those things you don't know, then think of the things you do know. Focus on them for a bit. You are not an idiot.
=)

No, not knowing things don't make you an idiot. If you are willing to learn new things, that is the biggest thing. But there are jerks out there who will make you feel like sh*t if you don't know things sometimes. They are the real idiots if you ask me.

hello guypersona!
Everybody still needs to learn a lot. It is a part of life. It only means that you should strive harder to know about things. It doesn't make you an idiot. After all, it isn't possible for one person to know everything. Just take your time and don't let yourself stagnate. Continue to learn. :)

No, I do not think you are an idiot. You are lazy perhaps. You can learn to play any sport - just grab a few neighbors and go for it. You can learn about other countries in those fabulous places known as libraries. That particular place can also teach you mathematics, languages, sciences, spelling, and just about anything else you truly want to know.
If by deprived, you mean you don't have money, that is an excuse not a reason for not knowing things. Saving even a few pennies when you can will add up to dollars to visit places you want to see. It will take years, but the waiting will make it all the more special.
So, get up, stop talking about all the things you cannot do and try listing the things you can do.
I don't speak French, but I cook French dishes that are spectacular. I could most certainly speak French if I so desired, but that isn't one of my primary interests at the moment. I don't play soccer, but I love attending baseball games and screaming until I'm hoarse as I support my team.
Our lives are a series of choices. Start making a few and stop telling yourself you are deprived. That excuse gets old after about five minutes.

Everyone has the right to be happy - the rich, the poor, the mediocre. Your goal should be to be happy. It is not how much one has but what one makes of what one has. Surely you do have something that you can make the best use of and be happy?

Short answer: No.
The 'idiots' are the ones who claim to know how to- and to be able to-do those things when they probably don't and aren't.
I can't do a lot of those things, and so I don't. Going and doing them anyway would be idiotic.

You definitely are not an idiot!!! You are willing to try and you want to learn. What I would suggest is taking one thing at the time.D not try to do too many at the same time. That will get you confused and lost.Let;take cooking for example. You have a computer and the internet! So look up some recepies that you would like to try and go for it.This way you can contribute something for your family while learning a new skill.Swimming, find a friend that knows how to swim and let them teach you, this way you save money for the instructor. If you were closer I would teach you, since that was one of my professions. Search for an amateur soccer club and see if they have soccer clinics for beginners... and so on. Good luck ,you can do it!

Don't feel bad about youself. Not knowing everything is normal. Even Mister Albert Einstein didn't kow everything. He was one of the most brilliant minds in his narrow field of expertise but maybe he didn't know much about say knitting or homework. Would that make him an idiot? No, I don't think so. Take it easy, you learn as you go along in your life and pickup more and more knowledge.
