I've got to say I'm loving this show! I taped the premiere last night because I was at work until almost 10pm. I also had to tape The Biggest Loser and the Dancing With The Stars results show, and of course I watched them first. So at around midnight we finally settled in to watch The Voice and OMG was it ever awesome!
If you haven't heard of it yet I'll give you a little run down.
There aren't judges.. there are coaches. 4 celebrity musicians, all of which are pretty big stars, have to choose a team of 8 contestants each. The coaches begin facing away from the contestants.. they don't get to see them, only hear them. If they like what they hear and what this person on their team they press a button which turns their chair around. If more than 1 coach turns their chair then the contestant gets to choose who's team they go on. Then each team battles it out and the coaches have to narrow their teams down to only 4 each. After that the viewers get to choose which contestant (and coach) wins the show.
Right now they're still in the choosing phase. Last night each coach chose their first 3 contestants and they were all awesome! Only 2 people didn't get chosen.. if no coach turns their chair the contestant is not chosen and leaves the show.
This isn't like American Idol where you get some absolutely awful people. All of these contestants have been pre-screened before the airing of the show and they are amazing singers!
Want to know who the coaches are? I bet you've heard of them!
They are:
Country Singer Blake Shelton
CeeLo Green (has a current song on the radio called "Forget You")
Maroon 5 leading singer Adam Levine
and..
Christina Aguilera
Of course I'd heard of all of them before the show began... actually I've seen Blake Shelton and Adam Levine in concert!!
I think it's really funny too. The coaches will fight with each other to get a contestant they really want.. and sometimes they say things that are hillarious. Like Adam told Blake last night "If you weren't 6'5" I'd kick your @$$". It's all in fun though of course.
Next week there's going to be a contestant singing "Forget You" by CeeLo.. I can't wait to see CeeLo's reaction to that!
So did you watch The Voice last night? What did you think of it?
If you missed it.. do you think you'll try to watch it next week?

Could have.. but why bother when others will do that for you.
Hope you're able to catch an episode.

I watched the first one; missed last week's episode. This is an interesting concept - to have some popular singers (singer & songwriters that already have some success) mentoring some talented singers. One thing I'm hoping is that this show would emphasize more on competition rather than reality. Cut the drama and focus on singing.
What???? The Word F.. violate mylot's terms, lol. CeeLo has the current hit with that F... word.

I think people are more interested in the drama than the singing.. I know I am.

I'll put it this way, I watched what I was able to watch of The Voice from this week. Now, I really would have liked to have been able to watch the entire episode and that is the reason that I had our DVR set to record it. What I didn't count on, however, was that they would preempt the show for a tornado warning that wasn't even in the area that we live in. So, I was able to watch to the point that each of the judges had two contestants on their teams. I really enjoyed it and I will be watching it again next week.

I've never been much of a fan of AI.. but if I had been, I think I would have stopped watching as soon as they replaced the judges. I don't like changes that much.. and new judges would just give the whole show a new feel which I probably wouldn't like.

I loved the show! I watched the first half off and on flipping back and forth between it and Glee and then it and Raising Hope. Then I watched the last hour. It was really good. I used to watch American Idol but I lost respect for the show when I found out that they put people who really couldn't sing through round after round just to set them up for failure and embarrassment in front of the main judges and national tv. I don't think it is right to get their hopes up that much and then crush them. This new show is really good. I love that they take people who are talented and try to help them farther their careers. I like the coaches and the way they try to battle each other for the contestant to pick them. They are replaying it again later this week for those who missed it. I can't wait to see the next one.

I have not seen or heard of this show until today. Your post and there have been others who have posed on FaceBook about it. I don't get into alot of tv shows the kids sadly rule our tv and when prime time shows are on I'm either at work or getting the kids redy for bed.

My kids pretty much rule the TV too.. but when there's a show on I want to see.. I send them off to bed or something. Nothing interrupts my TV time! Besides, I taped these shows and watched them after I got home from work.

Sure was. My husband said whoever came up with the idea for The Voice is a genious!
I've never gotten into idol. I've watched some of their audition episodes, but that's it. And now that it's all switched up.. no more Paula etc. I just don't think I would still be into it if I ever had watched it. I don't like changes much. Actually the first season that Samantha Harris was no longer on DWTS I didn't bother watching because I can't stand Brook.. I think she's an idiot! I'm also super ticked Jericho went home last night instead of Kendra.. that's another thing I seriously hate about shows like that.. the wrong people always go home. So stupid!

Yes. Just by chance as Rachel told me about this new show starting on television and we watched it last night. I was so impressed with the quality of the contestants voices. They were so great. I especially liked the idea that they were judged on their VOICES as opposed to their looks. This is novel. I have not heard of Blake Shelton though. I am going to go on You Tube and listen to him. We do not have country and western singers down here but I am sure that others have heard of him. I will be watching it next week.

I only happen to know of Blake Shelton because awhile back hubby and I got hooked on this show which was similar to American Idol but it was for country singers. I don't even know how we got hooked on it because we are not huge country fans.. but we liked this show and watched the entire first season. Well the winner of that season was going to be part of this big "Country Jam" here in town with many other country singers.. most of which I'd never heard of. We went just to see the singer of the show.. but Blake Shelton happened to be there and after that I began listening to his music more.
