What do you do when you quote your expectation low?

Ok, so I went for this interview, which was surprisingly very well, was interviewed by a panel and was able to answer all the questions, now I am left with one more round of interview which happens to be a technical round. Now in the first round of interview, when the Human Resource manager asked about my expectation regarding the payout(salary), I was just too over whelmed and anxious that I quoted a very low amount and I was so awe-struck that I couldn't come back and as a matter of fact, there wasn't any after this, now my question is how do I get back and tell them that my expectations are pretty high? Need help!

Not sure how it is in India but here a human resource department already has a salary set goal in mind no matter what we respond with. As each and every job normally is withing a salary category that either is on the low, middle and or high end of the max.
I probably would say that if called upon and hired that is the precise time to say that you wanted to re-visit the salary expectation.
Just as an FYI with any position, I always try my hardest to keep away from this question. If it arises I would always say, I am interested what range you are offering to see if it is feasible for me to either accept and or negotiate.
Sometimes you do get cornered in them wanting to know directly from you, at which time I always state an amount but quickly throw in that I am completely open to a negotiating rate.
Best of luck and hope all goes well for you and this job.
