I mixed it in the bread machine, but first I studied the bread machine recipe book, which gave the intervals and timing of mixing, rising, and cooking,(done in the oven of the stove). I used All Purpose Flour instead of bread flour, and Buttermilk instead of water. I added a Tsp.of Thyme, and some shredded cheese to the recipe for flavor, and a Tsp of yeast at the end. 2 hours later the dough was mixed and ready to kneed into the pizza pan. Then 20 minutes to rise, covered, in a warm place. Next into the oven at 375F, to rise and brown slightly, then time to slather on the tomato paste, 3 meats, chopped onions, black olives, and green Pepper, back into the hot oven for 15 minutes. Oh My! what a feast! But now I know why you pay $20.00 for a large pizza!

pizza is one of the only dishes i can actually cook from scratch any other food i attempt to make always ends in disaster just the other day i tried to make some buns and they looked ok but when we came to eat them they where like bricks it was rather funny think ill stick to shop bought ones from now on but after the success of making my own pizza i will never go back to shop bought ones

I like making pizza from scratch too! But juggling home, work, and 2 growing kids, I don't bake or cook as often as I want to. I still make my own pizzas but instead of making the crust from scratch, I buy pita pockets and just put toppings on them. I also tried using tortilla wraps for thin crust pizzas. Personalized pizzas at less cost and time!

My mouth is watering, but it is a bit hot weather, so I´ll take some fruits and non cooked food as it is very late.
It is very easy to make a pizza and I have done it sometimes and used dinkel flour instead of the ordinary.
Nowadays I use coconut oil that is considered one of the best for cooking and one of the healthiest. I used butter before, and that is part of my pizza recipe I posted in Triond. Might still use a bit of butter, just for the taste..
Congratulations for making your own pizza!!

Hey barehugs,
Wow this is very impressive. I personally have not made pizza from total scratch, I honestly have bought the dough ready made but I like your information. I especially like that you added the buttermilk instead of water. Wow this sounds like it was fun to watch from start to finish.
Hope you don't mind but I am writing it all down and will give it a try one day. I am very excited because it sounds not only fun but yummy too.
It does appear to be a bit of work but also seems so well worth it because we get to feast on our very own creation.

hi barehugs oh my you did it. I am so hungry now I am slobbering on myh keyboard. shame on you. lol. That sounds so good and I bet it was good
and you did it all yourself. I am impressed. Here in this retirement center I get no chances to cook and I always loved to cook.I can imagine
its labor intensive. but at least it sounds pretty healthy and you used all my favorite toppings too. Hey any left. shove some through my
monitor and I will share my chocolate chip cookies with you lol.

I made a pizza from scratch one time and it turned into a total mess but towards the end at least my family ate it to try and make me feel better.

That's yummy! I'd like to try baking my own pizza too but I have no time doing that. Maybe someday...For now, just ring the pizza chain for delivery.
