They got me scratching all the way

Just got home from my 8-day vacation. And so sad because I have to bring with me the itch I got from the beach (I think and hope so). I was hoping this was just an allergy that will be gone in a few days. They say it came from a jellyfish bite. My thighs and legs (left and right) are full of rashes and I can't help myself from scratching them! Anyone here who knows the remedy for this? I already took my medicine two times but nothing has changed. Hope somebody can help me here.

Hi belinda, I don't think it is jelly fish bite. As I've heard it, those can be really painful. If it is jelly fish bite, you would know. I think it probably is an allergy to the water or sand. I suggest you get checked up by a doctor. For skin rashes, my cousin (he's a doctor) used to advised 'Quadriderm' ointment. Quadriderm is a brand name, I will try to find the scientific name so you can find the equivalent available in your area.

Thanks for the info zralte! I'll try to look for that tomorrow in the pharmacy. Maybe from the sand because I remember my knees rubbed on the sand as the waves carry me though the shore. Yesterday, I applied some anti-itch lotion (Caladryl) but it wasn't that effective at all because I still scratch them hard! It was so uncomfortable. Tomorrow, I'll start my first day at work after having my 8-day vacation and I don't think I can concentrate on my work with this itchy thing.

Let me add my 2 cents worth! I am a great believer in the miracle plant Aloe Vera which is available now in gel form. You can visit this link: http://www.anniesremedy.com/herb_detail2.php and get some idea. There are scores of such links on the Net.

I have had cans of this juice, applied aloe gel on my face which is a moisturiser and also used the tooth paste. That was when I was a distributor of these products. Now I have plants in my garden and use the sap specially for any skin ailment, tooth ache. Yes. It is a miracle plant and has several uses.

Thanks for the link. I read it and read useful info about aloe vera. I thought it's only good for the hair. I'll try to look for aloe vera gel to use for skin care. And I'm a bit curious that its juice is good for digestion. Have you tried drinking them?

Oh you poor thing I'm so sorry that your vacation ended up leaving you with this problem. Please don't delay any longer and get to a doctor because if the itching is spreading instead of clearing up it needs treatment. I am hoping that it is nothing serious and that it will all be over in just a few days and then you cante ll us about the good times that you had too

I know that scratching will releave the itching sensation but be careful because it will break the skin and then infection could set in I do wish you would seek medical advice

I love scratching them! It's getting better now. Some parts are still itchy though. Few days more and these rashes will be totally gone (hopefully). Now, my next problem is my face and arms that got sunburned.

I enjoyed so much. Just letting the sun burn my skin and the waves bring me to shore. Something bit me while swimming but I never thought it would come up to this degree. While I was sleeping, I was scratching my legs and thought mosquitoes bit me but when I woke up, I saw them, so many and looks horrible! The redness lightened now, hoping for another progress tomorrow. I'm still scratching hard though. ...can't help it!

Hi. adnileb. I am sorry that you came back from the beach with rashes on your thighs and legs. I think that you may need something that will heal the rash and reduce the itchiness. I have heard that oatmeal works great for itchiness and irritation. I think that you also should also consult with a doctor so that you can get some treatment for this. My sister got bitten once at the beach by a jellyfish. She said that she was stinging really bad. I hope that you are able to feel so much more better really soon.

Thanks for the concern, cream... As of now, I don't feel any better. I keep on scratching my rashes and it keeps on being itchy. What can I do? ..I can't help to scratch them, they're so itchy! I will wait for a few days more before I'll consult a doctor. What will I do with oatmeal? Apply them as it is or should I mix them with water before I apply?

ya its a very bad news... allergy is removed by applieing vinegar ,it will remove after few days but do not scratch that site with nails. Medicine also helps you to remove it...

I always scratch it WITH MY NAILS.. Soooorry.. I can't help it, they're very itchy. I already applied ointment for the itch but I think it's not working well because I can still feel the itch. Even though I'm replying here, my other hand sometimes reach them and give them a scratch.

If it's jellyfish sting, vinegar will do. You can also use ammonia but take note that you should consult a professional when you do this. However, there is still the possibility that it may not be jellyfish sting. It's best to consult the doctor. :) I'm not yet there. :)

I tried the vinegar but it didn't work well. I already applied an ointment for the itch but still itchy. I don't know what else to do with these. I don't like to consult a doctor yet because I think they will prescribe me the same ointment that I bought. I think I'll just wait for few days. I read that stings from marine parasites lasts up to 2 weeks.

Best thing I can say is to just continue with your medication. Is it okay to put calamine lotion on it or any kind of anti-itch cream? It should stop in a few days. But I do think that the more you itch it the more it might be affected so thats why a cream that stops the itching a bit might stop you from itching. And an oatmeal bath. Not real oatmeal but its made by Aveeno.

Hi ladygator.. Yesterday, I already applied anti-itch lotion (Caladryl-contains Calamine) but the itch didn't go away. I will continue on my medication of Celestamine for a few days then hope it will come back to normal. If not, I have no choice but to consult a doctor. My feet is also swelling and my skin almost feels like being ripped-off. I also have same rashes on my back and arms but not as worst like my thighs and legs.
