why is it so hard to come back to God for those who believe in Jesus & Christianity after u have committed a sin, you feel ur not worthy to go even to church , u don't want to look at people in the eyes they might see what you have done. i feel this some time...when i do terrible things. bu its funny some people have gotten lost in the world due to such simple mistake.that make you fee so bad to come back to you feet and they remain on the down, committing more sins never to stand up. why does this happen

Mostly because of pride. Repentance requires us to love ourselves and God more than we love the admiration of other people. However, pride is fed through the admiration of self and from others. The temporary admiration from others makes us feel like we don't require repentance, and soon sooths the pain we feel from what we did. It can also (as you point out) make us feel unworthy of admiration from anyone, so we withdraw.

I have to agree. Pride is the most common reason why we feel that we are unworthy. However, we could always take the chance and repent unless pride is being set aside or thrown away.

Yup, to truly repent we must overcome our pride and submit to the will of God.

It is true that these kind of events happen. The pride of a person could blind the true intentions and works of God. Once you are blinded by sin, you have to find your way back to Him again.

I'm not religious, but I'm given to understand that God forgives those who are sincerely repentant and don't repeat whatever their 'sin' has been...like, to learn from the experience.

I can hear the religions saying right now. REPENT YOU EVIL SINNERS!!! It's no wonder people don't want to come back. No one likes to be looked down on and judged. This is an Evil that religion still commits today. God, on the other hand is Unconditional Love. God also counts on people making mistakes. God knows it is part of the learning process. God isn't who people are having problems coming back to.

Hi Haqueen. In my understanding on your post, i believe it has something to do with hope. We feel that once we sin, we feel that we had performed poorly in the eyes of God as if we are again hurting Christ on the cross. Unworthy as we are, we feel ashamed to ask God for forgiveness because we think that it wont make us any different, that it is uselss and that we are not going to improve and that we are incapable for changing for the better. We feel that when it comes to being pleasing in the eyes of the Lord, we are sooo miserably hopeless. And yet, we are conscious of this. We know that we are hurting Christ over and over again to the point that we have gone far and away. I feel that same as you do. I want to remind myself that God's mercy is infinite and that He would want it all the more if we all come back to Him. There was a passage in the bible saying that He did not come for the good people, He had come for the sinners. Just imagine how amazing He truly is. I am a Catholic and for repentance to be done, we are required to go to confession to state our sins and the priest would give us advices on how to stay away from sin. You just cant imagine how hard it is for me to confess my habitual sins... Many times, i have thought that it is useless going to Confession to say those very same habitual sins! I would like to think that Christ won't say, "dear dear dear... when will you ever learn??? You are such an insincere person! Get out!" I know that God is a gentle father. I know that he is just waiting for me to come back home.

Thank you for the words of encoragement. Am reminded that once we confesse, God forgets the sins we ever committed and when one committes another sin GOD wont remind us of the past coz to him, the past is all gone in the 'sea of forgetfulness' thank you

Don't worry, you are blessed then. God has given you the grace to identify your sin. I was like that too before. I felt like abusing God's mercy. That brought me the anxiety. Don't worry, God acknowledges you. God bless. Oh, don't worry, I know a person much sinner than you are. And so if you commit a sin again, just think of that person. His name starts in letter "C." If you sinned again, tell to yourself, "C is much worse than I am." God Bless!

This maybe due to some reason. Maybe some people are shame to get back to God and some are shy to stop doing evil things...They don't think that what they are doing is a burden into their lives...

Repenting is an admission that we are wrong and we want justified for it. some of us find it more difficult than others to acknowledge when we need help;/

Christian who backslided by commiting sin after having an encounter with God. Sometimes find it very difficult to come for repentance due to the fact that they are ashamed of their behaviour. They have the feeling that people know them to be a believer especially in the area in which they live. So when they are distracted by the devil and then find themselves out of favour with God they still have some guilty conscious and they would not want to come back to repent of their sins. But I still feel the church can still do a lot to help such a person. It is a fact that nobody is above temptation. Christ himself was tempted by the devil. If christ was tempted by the devil then we as human being can not be above sin all the time. we certainly need the grace of God to keep us going.

this happened to me once. back in my elementary years i used to go to the church with my classmates cause my mom wont go with me, and i was so active in our spiritual camps. but when teenage years came, it seems like Satan found an easy way to control me. i became an atheist for about 2 years, i practiced magic for a while as well, and the Godly child in me vanished. it was only a year ago when i returned to God, when i held His hand again. for me that part was not hard. he accepted me immediately like opening your door to a poor kid because its raining outside. im very happy to say that God welcomed me for the second time, and that i will never have any reasons again to doubt Him.

I have this kind of feeling, when I make a terrible mistake in my life. It's really hard to pray, because I felt that I'm not worthy in His sight. One more thing, I'm full of guilt. But, one thing is for sure, no matter how sinner we are He is faithful and just to forgive our sins. If I felt that I'm very far from Him, I always put in my mind this lines God said: "seek me and you will find me, if you seek me will all your heart". If we seek God with all our heart, no matter how hard it is, it will become easy for us to repent and remove our pride.
