I don't think that anybody could give the answer to this question. How could anybody know if a dog barks at ghosts? They should first be able to know that a ghost is there, shouldn't they?
Dogs have keener senses than humans; they can hear and smell hundred times better than us. So, when they seem to bark for no particular reason, they do have a reason, but we can't hear/smell/see it.
For instance, my previous dog had the ability to know when a storm was about to come, long time before I could see any sign of a coming storm. She was afraid of loud noises so she developed a 'storm phobia' because she made connections between the noise of the thunder and everything related to it. She used to wake up all of a sudden and headed to her hiding place. Then I knew a storm was on its way. She never failed in foreseeing a storm.
