So those who know me know I was thinking about selling Avon, and I thank you all for your advice. I finally got all of my booklets, samples and e shop up and going and went out for my first day of trying to sell. I did get one small order in person and one Internet order. Neither was for a whole lot but if I can get one person a day or so I should be able to make some extra cash. I just have to get over the nerves I guess..lol, so wish me luck!

Good luck to you! I hope you do well.
My duaghter just started selling Avon too. But I hope she does well...she is good with people, knows about makeup and has a pleasant demeanor so if she can just find the customers AND not spend her earnings on herself in the next catalog!!! She even determined that at over 50 with my facial issues, I should only be using the 40+Anew system and told me why in detail! She sold me! Hopefully she can do that with every customer!
Keep us posted how well you do! Nice to hear someone doing well at something like this.

She is doing the same thing. She started thinking about it and then got layed off her job so now she knows she won't be buying for herself! I did tell her tho, that a good thing to do is to buy some of the cheaper things...like lip balms or whatever i about a dollar...buy 25 of them and then offer them as a freebie with a large order or some way to entice the customers to buy more for a freebie. Plus, the rep gets the order credit for that order so that would help in her percent commission.
GOod luck!

It is hard no to buy when there are good deals you can get but I am trying to supplement our income and all of it will be going to my girls' dance classes at first then to other bills around the house. I want to keep up with the way they are used to living even if less money is coming in right now. We didn't live extravagantly but I would like to keep their dance classes and the ability to go out once in a while even if it's just for some ice cream.

Just did that. I also bought some items that where on a good sale for a craft show I am working in a few weeks. I will have my jewelry out but I thought since I already have the table I would bring some products and brochures to take orders with me. As a new rep I get the 40% for the first 4 campaigns I think so I am trying to take advantage of that as well since3 I can get the items at their cheapest this way. I really only started to think about it when Hubby was laid off again. Since in school and starting a new career path I know he will not be getting the pay he used to get again any time soon as he will need experience of coarse. So I will try to make the deference this way.

Yes, selling one-on-one is very nerve racking. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get to where you are doing very well at it. Avon has really come a long way selling every thing now days. Has had some nice gifts for young girls down through the years. If they ever change their make up let me know, okay?

If they don't tell me it's changed I probably won't know I haven't really looked in years and I was impressed with some of the ides they have had but we'll see. I just didn't want to seem pushy or as a beggar ya know.

OK. I take my brochures with me to the kids dance classes and Dr. visits. Left one at the vet's and what not. I also set up an e-store which I have had a couple purchases through which is nice. I haven't gotten any orders near What Avon says is the normal or average purchase but I think it is the area I am in as it is rural and poor. We'll see so far not bad, not millionaire but not bad.

hello,
i sell avon, however i dont do it to make tons and tons of money. instead i sell in my work place, friends, family, friends of friends, friends of the family, local shops where i know the people, my hairdressers, friends daughters and sons, friends family members and brothers and sisters, my partners family.. i don't make very much commission, but i get free things, they all love the products so have someone to order them off, and even if i dont make commission, i usually make enough for afford some products pretty much for free.. plus your getting everything at a cheaper price yourself :)

Well you need luck because I have done it twice now and Avon let me down every time. I started selling Avon around Christmas got a really big order and they never delivered it. I thanked all of my customers who were very nice about it, but I felt like I had let them down. I delivered all of my booklets, samples and got the orders in, in time, but Avon let me down in a big way. I ended up having to pay over 200 pounds to sort it out. Never again.

Wow My S.I.L. has been selling for 12 years and has never had a problem with the company. Problems with buyers here and there but not the company! May I ask what country are you in? I wonder if it is different in different places.

Yes they do. I just ordered the baby and my niece (they are 4 months apart) the cutest little eyelet white dresses to match when we go to a family reunion in June! So cute. Actually they have a lot of none make up items, I was surprised.

you'll be fine... good luck! i think you just need to warm up a bit, and then it'll eventually become something normal or natural to you... i think everyone who has common sense has the ability to sell, so it shouldn't be that hard for you. unless of course, you're not happy doing this...

Thank you and I will I hope. I think some of my nerves are becasue I have never sold something before that I hadn't made so I am nervous standing behind some one else's product. Now Avon is celebrating 125 years so I know it is a well loved product, just nerves.
