I am trying to book a vacation, and I am pretty flexible about dates, but I don't know the best way to do it. I have used websites with travel packages before and thought that was the best way if you do it all together and it would be cheaper that way too. When I had to call the airline, I found out I had actually paid more for my flight with the travel package and it would have been cheaper to book the hotel and flights separately. The hotel also provided round trip airport service at no cost which was an "added benefit" of the travel package. I have been searching and on multiple websites which book differently so I was wondering how everyone else books their vacations and what you think the best way to book vacations is?

Booking a vacation is quite easy this days with the advent of the internet. I think you should try and visit the website of the countries you want to visit. All this information should be available to you at your finger tips.best of luck

I used makemytrip.com to purchase my ticket 2 months ago. they did have the lowest rates than the other websites offering the same flight. maybe it is better to get your ticket then find another source for the hotel. Math has always been a problem for me so i dont like adding or subtracting numbers to know if i saved anything

I look at a web site called Flight Scanner and look a flight costs. I put in where I am wanting to leaving from and going to. I found a travel company on there for my flight from London to Cartagena De Indias via Madrid and Bogota. I then looked for accommodation and found the ideal hotel in Cartagena De Indias. I am an independent traveler and I book a flight and travel around a region once I get there. I was on a bus and a lady helped me find somewhere to stay in Santa Marta. So I can book on the road too.

Normally, I consult with my friends who travel often then search around for the best deals, I try to be very thorough with my questions so I would have a complete understanding of what I would actually be paying for. Travel agencies are usually very helpful and also the front desks of hotels, I've also decided to follow the twitter accounts of certain establishments like a local airline so I would be informed right away of their latest promos like discounts and packages. I try to compare with the others that I'm considering and then I make arrangements.

the best way to book your tickets is online.........but if have a help desk available in your city you should definately pay it a visit. also make a call to confirm your booking.it helps to get a better understanding of the offers being offered.also inquiry about the terms of cancellation the booking in case of a cancellation.

I think that once you decide on a place, you should go to different websites, such as exepdia or priceline and see how the vacation package is. Your chances of getting a lower fare are higher if you book in advance. If you plan your vacation during popular holidays, and most of summer, the prices will keep increasing. So if you have flexible dates, then try to choose a random month where nothing much is going on, for example, February! before valentines day! Also, make sure that you travel to popular destinations, because if you decide to go somewhere out in the country, where not many people go, then it will be very expensive. I am surprised to hear that it was expensive when you booked the hotel and flight together, it was more expensive. It is usually cheaper and that must have been one of the rare instances. Try a website like bookingbuddy, where you can compare a lot of different travel websites and that way you will have a variety of options!!! Good luck planning your vacation! and I HOPE THIS Helped!

If I were to book a total vacation package I would go to a travel agent that I know. I may not get the very best deal but I know that I will not be cheated or book and not have my reservation.

Hi Misc, I try to check online reservations first, then I try to canvass by calling the hotels in the area the I would be going to. I do the same with airlines or buslines, so that I know where to get the best deal. From my experience, I usually get a better deal when I call the hotel than when I book online.

i usually wait for special rates on airfares. Most of the time, i book my vacation months ahead to get the best deals. As for hotels and/or tours, I ask for advice and tips from friends or family who have been there. It's good to research about travel packages offered by different agencies.

The first thing I do before booking for a vacation is have a budget in mind. With the budget I have, I list don't possible places that my budget could take me. After deciding on a place, well you may say I am so thrifty but I canvass in different travel sites, advisories and in travel agencies. Who can offer me the best bargain for my budget with all it's perks. After getting what I think is my money's worth, that's the time I settle on which agency or site. There are times I book my own airfare separately from the hotel and the tour packages. That is what I do. Hope this gives you an idea.
