I just won a thousand dollars!!! WOW!!!WOW!!! It was the easiest thing to do!!! I am the Luckiest person alive!! It doesn't get easier than this!! All I can do is ask Why? Why? Why? Why do they do it?? Why do people who go gamble always tell you what they won but never ever tell you what they lost or how much they spent to make that thousand dollars?? I never gamble. I have learned a long time ago that the House is the only one who is really winning. How else do you think they pay for those Giant fancy places??? Tell me about your friends who gamble.

They mostly thought that the money for them to but the lottery or to gamble were a small money. They did not add it through the months and years they bought it, It could have bought a small apartment maybe... They just blinded themselves on the loss and focus only on winning, which really is not a winning if they really count well...

Yes,we definitely need to start our MATH class for them. They probably spent enough money to buy a house for that thousand dollars. Maybe, I should write a book. How to get rich gambling. Inside it will just say don't gamble.

Do that, write a book about it. There's a saying in Indonesia that we could never get rich through gambling...

Agree! I will love that book. Write it and hope people will stay away from this crime. I might consider it as a crime as this game did kill silently many people and leave their lives in mess and misery!Stop gambling!

I think if one is self disciplined, it's ok. I look at it as entertainment money. When I go to Vegas I take a few hundred and when it's gone I stop gambling. If I am there for say 4 days I take maybe 200 and try 50 each day. I don't go very often, maybe a couple times a year at most.

There are many things about which self-discipline would aid us, why then add another thing to test our self control? Me, I like to make life easy for myself all the best urban

Well I gamble but I am a intelligent gambler. I spend something i can afford and If i win, i save the profit but continue with what i have before. And if i lose then will not try again at that time.

Yes, I know people who take just a night of entertainment money then stop when that's gone. Of course that's what they say. Would anyone really admit they lost a bundle??? A friend gave me a comp card worth 20 dollars to gamble with. 5 minutes and it was gone. Lots of money can change hands even for an intelligent gambler.

I don't have friends who gamble. But my mother is so fond of betting on Lotto. She would everyday bet not only one but two or more lotto tickets. Maybe she is enticed because she always wins too, though smaller amounts. She would always give me and my siblings some from it. I told her not to get so addicted to it, lest all her money will be lost. She said no, just small amount, but i know it's for everyday.

I guess we can dream of winning that Big lottery ticket worth 300 million. The dream is nice, however it would probably ruin us if we actually won.

You are right. A few quick wins will addict a person. Of course, when the lottery prize is in the hundreds of millions, I can understand buying a ticket or two, however the odds of winning are so far out it's like throwing money away, yet someone does have to win.

I would sometimes bet on Lotto too. But that is whenever my birthday, my husband's or my daughter's will be approaching, since i combine our birthdays. I guess, i am not lucky on those though.

There are many ways to gamble.I have ever bought welfare lotteries and wanted to win 5000000 yuan.At first,I won over 300 yuan,so I bought more with the excitement. But after two years,I got nothing but losing several thousand yuan!If I hadn't won any at the beginning,I must have lost less later.

The excitement of winning easy money is a very big draw. It's so easy for everybody to see themselves winning that prize. The real truth is very few people actually win.

Yet they still put a money to risks their lives- they will even say it is not risky anyway~ I learn something here...gambling is such a dangerous addiction. Once you into it, you will never get tired of it, you lose or you win it will bring you to it more and more. So stay away from lotteries and gambling!

Yes,once we get into it,we'll never feel tired of it.I spent more 2000 yuan on lotteries, but I gained little. So I never touch it though I pass by the Betting Station of welfare lotteries every day.

LOL you fooled me too :) Gambling is fun but can be dangerous. I'll share something..years ago I won over 19K on a slot machine in Nevada. I feel I have always been pretty lucky. I don't gamble a lot but once in awhile I do. I won't spend very much money gambling, but I expect to win again :) You can't win if you don't play, but you must play in moderation and responsibly. Good luck to anyone out there, and if you feel 'driven' to play, don't play.

Yes, sounds like you are smart enough to quit while you are ahead. That was easy money. When are you going back?????? OK! OK! just kidding. I can feel the draw of easy money working on you as we speak. Maybe you are a rare case and will be able to stop. Best of luck either way!!

That is good advice. Since I am not a big gambler and understand the odds, I took the 19k and wire transferred it to my bank. The rest (over 800 I blew on toys for the kids, gave some away to people around me, went to dinner, etc.)

I agree with you on this one. The ones that actually win for the most part have spent so much already. I have gamblers in my family and it has never caught on with me. I am always thinking that the numbers/cards/chips, whatever it may be are all rigged. I have played numbers a few times, and bought a few scratch offs. I have made my money back off the scratch offs plus maybe 5 extra bucks....

hi bird I had a coworker who would set down just so much money then she and her husband would go to Las Vegas. If they won fine but the moment their money was used up back home to Tustin California they would come. they won some little amounts and had fun but once the money they agreed they could spend was used up they left.thats the only way I would look at something like that.I really do not gamble as I hate losing money like that for no reason at all. I would not like to keep losing money so I just do not even bother.

I agree. Money is just too hard to come by to just throw it away. Some say they go just for entertainment but I don't think they would bother if there wasn't a chance of winning. In the long run, the house is the only one who wins.

You got me in there! Nice intro! Well, stories of gamblers uh? My grandfather is, until now. I guess its an addiction that they can't seem to resist. I guess its because of the winning that they forget their losses. Yes! You are right they don't count how much they've spent as long as they won. That's the price of sudden blackout due to happiness maybe? :)

Hey grazfish, good to have you onboard. This discussion is about the guy who tells everyone when he wins a thousand dollars gambling but never tells you how much it cost to win that money. When people scream I won, they really don't if you consider everything. The house is the only one who wins gambling

I don't gamble and as far as I know I have no friends who do this thing too~ They re gambling with their lives actually not with their money. Gambling online or offline is the most worst job as it will never pay you yet make our life in misery. If it would it never worth as much as you invest for all this while. I can't imagine if only one people grab all that money while others get nothing. This game oppressing each member in their group. It recall me of one statement I read in an article which one of the owner of the lottery shop said that they themselves never involves in gambling because the money is not clean and safe but they get really nice and handsome benefits by selling the lottery tickets. It is funny as for me you sell or you buy that money is not clean too but it show us that even the owner know the cruelty and the mean behind this dirty game. There is also a story which a girl won millions dollars but she finished it up in just a few months and leave herself from a rich girl in one night to the poor and ordinary girl in just a few weeks or months later. This always makes me laugh and it shows that dirty money won't last longer. It is either that girl is stupid and dumb enough to manage her financial or she really not deserve to have it at all.

Yes, they get the money to build the palaces one gambles in from somewhere. Flash blinds the gambler to the truth. Yes, I bet the owners know the score. I bet they never gamble at all. Everyone should know better. The dream of becoming rich is strong in many people even to the point of becoming foolish.

They know it but they are drowned by the desire to make the dream become reality which blinded them that the foolishness part play the biggest role there. There are many gamble slot machines here. And the lottery ticket counter as well. Both got the overwhelming response. About the owner they don't have to be stupid like their customers because they can get the profits without even place bid and draw a ticket at all~

I really thought you won in one of the online promos, you got our curiosity, good job! Gamblers do celebrate whatever the amount they won but doesn't count their losses, maybe if they did, they will not return back. I know people who are addicts with gambling and they just realized it when they where push on the wall. I have a friend who have business here in the city and I though she was doing well. Until the time that she had told me that she doesn't have money anymore and have to get away because she owes a lot of money from people and friends. I don't know the reason until her father told me that she suspects that she lost it in gambling. Now, she was struggling hard to earn money again and to regain her reputation. Her husband was very mad at her and they have to get an annulment.

Yes, Gambling can get pretty messy. It has ruined many people. People, I guess, get addicted to that feeling of Winning and after that will do anything for it. Sad that rock bottom is what it takes for many to realize this.

I think even if we can hit them with a real rock for the consequences of gambling they will still not even realize it! There were people who promising will not engaging themselves in gambling anymore yet still get into it as it already their habit and hobby. If only they had realized it in the beginning the will stray away from this habit.

Well, most casinos earn more than the gamblers do.. that is why they have money to finance all the fancy places. Many people go to casinos to gamble to try their luck but unfortunately not all people are Lucky enough to win so some end up wasting their money in casinos and casinos earn a lot daily without doing anything :)

I was just about to congratulate you on winning a thousand dollars, but I really love the way you drew people into your discussion. The truth is that it is not the easiest thing to do and many people lose everything trying to win everything. I wish it was that easy, but the truth is it isn't. I don't know any friends who gamble in their lifetime. If people gamble, they just need to bet their money and when they win, they get more than what they had bet on the table. I guess that's how gambling entertains them.

I think gamblers must be bad at math. If one adds up all the totals. The house is the only one who wins. If one is lucky enough to walk in and win big, they need to leave and never come back. Of course that draw for easy money hangs most of them anyway.

People who gamble, always count the winnings but not the loses.I have gambler in my family, maybe it's a generation which i dont know. But i grow up seeing my grand mother gambling race horse ,while my grandfather play cash-pot and the lotto an race horse. Now it's my uncle and an aunts who do the gambling, and trust they win most of the time.I use to Gamble way back before i have my son,but when i was pregnant i stop because i start to think and save more than i spend. Some people are smart when gambling to know when to stop ,but some are addicted an don't know when to stop. I don't know if gambling is base on luck ,but a few of my uncles are very lucky when gambling.

I don't gamble too... except for lottery... Oh that is considered gambling too, right? I bet and play lottery once or thrice a year only and not every year... so I don't lose that much money from it... I know I am not lucky with those so I don't play... But I know, based on others story, gambling is addictive... and their "wanting to win" attitude push them more to gamble and play... not noticing or realizing how much money they spent already... how much money they're giving away from not stopping... and sometimes they win and feel that its their lucky day so they gamble again after winning and then end up losers...

Yes, I bet there are many who win then put it all back in to try and win more. Even if they lose it all before they go home they can still claim they won that money. It is a vicious circle. Round and round we go.

....Hi there bird123, You are quite correct with the premise that most people who gamble will lose so much money, that if they break even when they win, it would be a good thing. People who gamble get a thrill out of chasing the money, the adrenaline is high with the chase so to speak. I know a few people who go to the casinos only playing the coin machines, but they win a lot of coins, but they will not leave, they keep inserting coins, on and on. It's an addiction with some of them and they wind up losing. I have to say you are the second person this weekend that I have read about or heard, who won a thousand dollars. The other one was a friend who went to AC and won a thousand dollars. So if things go in threes, I will hear about someone else in my circle. Congratulations on your good luck. Take care.

Whooa ... I thought you really won and I am very curious how and from where. Anyways, I had a friend from college days whom I considered as a sister. We already finished college and already working, but during that time, she kept asking/borrowing money for me. She told me for the house rent and etc etc. When I needed my money very badly and urgently she was hiding from me, until we said hurtful words from each other. There I found out from our common friend that she was getting addicted to casinos. So that's the story of my ex-friend.

Gambling can get you if you aren't careful. One person told me they would have been alright if they had never won. Once they won, they had to get that feeling again. Oh no, there goes the rent.
