1 Believe. They hired you because they know you can do the job. 2 Prepare. research on what your suppose to be doing on your new job and prepare things that you need to learn or review. 3 Inquire, if this is something totally new to you then ask you superiors what is expected of you and from there plan your approach Just a few things i do when i change jobs ... hope it helps

My first advice is to work harder on yourself then you do on your job. Learn more skills, mostly human relation skills. Those are the most important, understanding, relating to, and guiding people are probably the three most important skills to learn in the world today, especially in a case such as yours, where the economy is shifting from Communism to Capitalism. It is not an easy thing, to adjust the way of life of an entire nation, and it comes with great strife, many challenges, and a division of people into classes, that are similar yet different to what is currently the case as I understand it in China. The second thing I would do, is read books on the subjects I was needing to learn, if I were to say, become a public speaker, rather then a Chef, I would read books on public speaking, or if I wanted to become a secretary, I would read books on taking short hand, and administration, etc etc. I wish you the best of luck, I know you will do your best, and it will be better then anyone is expecting, except God of course. I believe in YOU. Sincerely and With Appreciation.

Usually on the first day of work, you will be oriented on your job. You must take notes on everything that you think will be useful in doing your job. You can ask your new office mates, or the one who is orienting you everything about it. Usually you would be given a job description too. From there, you will know what exactly will you be doing on your new job.
