yes that is true that we can see them around in our home especially in the kitchen because they love food such as those sweet one,and even in the closets they stay too because its cold and not that always disturbing place for them, but they are annoying too because of their bite.

We sometimes have problems with sugar ants. I clean all counters and cabinets with Clorox Clean-up, which is great. Wipe down all wood cabinets with lemon scent pledge - they say bugs of any kind do not like lemon scents at all. I have sealed all chips , cereals, spices, condiments, etc in plastic storage containers inside my cabinets. I also place "Combat" ant baits in all corners of cabinets, on top of fridge, behind oven, etc. - places unvisible to us, and untouchable by the dog or my 2 year old son. I saw another post about Terro - which also works great.

We had a problem with ants last month. I bought these little ant "hotel" things. They are attracted to the smell of the thing and they go to it and eat it and they carry it to the rest of the colony and it kills them off and gets rid of them. We also sprayed something around the house called Home Defense. Our ant problem has been resolved by using these two things and I'm so glad cause I hate ants.

To be honest with you, you can try 10,000 different solutions, but sorry to say, you will never truly get rid of ants. Those solutions just keep those pesky creatures at bay until they figure out another way to get to what they want. So you will just have to cope with it and keep after them day in and day in. Where do they affect you the most? in your house or outside the house? In a specific area of your home? Knowing this will help us to be able to tell you in details better what to do and how to tackle them for a short term solution until they give up and leave you alone.

Hi. Sammy224. Welcome to myLot! I think that you should get rid of them by fertilizing your ground outside of your home. You can also spray ant spray too. Their is also this chemical that comes into a green jug that you can buy that can help remove ants away from your yard, garden and plants. I saw this on television this morning and I think that this would be a great ant and rodent remover for someone that has yard issues. I don't know the name of it. But, if I can retrieve the name, I will gladly tell you what it is. I think that you should go to Lowe's to see if they have a product that is like this. I hope that you will find it.

I am having the same problem in my kitchen with ants. At first I tried collecting as many ants as I could get and removed them outside to my garden. Though many more ants were seen later that evening. I tried looking on the Internet at tips. One tip was remove food and water then put down something ants don't like. I had some mint leaves but the ants walked past it. They didn't go away and so I am going to try cleaning my kitchen from top to bottom. Then I will wash all surfaces with vinegar mixed with water.

Get some Terro Ant Killer. It comes in a small bottle and is a thick viscous liquid. The ants come and dine and take some of it back to the nest for whoever isn't working. I've seen results in as few as 3-4 days. I've tried many other commercial products but the Terro liquid works better than anything. Check at hardware stores and any of the big box stores.

Check where they come from: You follow them with your eyes and discover that they have a hole. My grandmother scalded them with a kettle full of water. It did not end them, but it kept them under control.

I remember when I was little we had red ants everywhere in our house. What my mother did was pour paraffin on nooks and holes where they usually came out. It worked but I think it can be a fire hazard. Also, we never left food in the open: everything was sealed and kept in the fridge.

Are they inside your house? If so make sure everything is clean. Don't leave out any food or anything. Go through your house and clean every surface, also try spraying baseboards with lysol, it's a great way to get rid of any bugs!

I suggest you buy some insecticides.Just spray it on the environment. get your door closed. go outside the house for about 30minutes to 1 hours. These disturbing ants will be a thing of the past. Best of luck! cheers

When I attended a biointensive gardening talk, the speaker said, mixing minced garlic with water is a good spray to get rid of ants. Another one I picked up is sprinkling cinnamon or pepper powder in areas ants frequent.
