How busy are you?

For me, a lot of my time is spent in the house as I earn my money online.
This can often mean that I don't leave the house for up to 5 days at a time. I don't feel as though this bothers me, because many people have no social life during the working week- it just so happens that my "place of work" is in my own home.
How about you? Do you have a busy and active lifestyle, or are you like me and prefer to keep it chilled?

Hi Gemma,
Yes, I'm a pretty busy person. I work outside of the house at a convenience store so I do get out and I see a lot of people through my work. I also have my 17 yr old daughter and 3 others who are older but keep me busy all the same. Plus I make and sell incense burners on the side as well as spend time with the grandchildren. If I did stay home, however, I would not get bored. I don't get lonley easily or quickly.

You sound just like my 24 yr old! She calls me all the time for rides and "mom, could you buy me this?" Sometimes she'll call for a ride and then ask to stop for a coffee and I'll pull in and she'll go..." Oh, I think I forgot to mention that I don't have money." I actually have come to expect that. And you are so right...I'm sure they don't mind. I know I don't as long as I can afford to help her....I'm sure she would understand if I couldn't but knows that I would do anything for her that I could. It's really cool after the tough teen years...we've gotten really close. I love it.

I know what you mean about the tough teenage years. My Mother and I didn't get on for years, but then when I moved to University I was able to get the space that I needed to clear my head and remember that my Mother loves me and only wants what is best for me. I hope that I will soon be able to pay her back for everything that she's ever done for me. That's the main thing that I would like to do with my life at the moment.

Well even when children are grown up they still keep you busy. I am 20 and I like to think that I still keep my Mum and Dad on their toes! I can't drive, so they unfortunately have to give me a hand with transport every so often. They don't mind though, and I know that I will be able to pay them back when I can drive myself.

Hi GemmaR! I am busy busy busy..lol. I have a job that I just come off 7 days a week, two young girls at home, and I am taking accelerated classes to get a degree. I also do online money things..oh and my pets..I have teacup chihuahuas that I love. Now that my job will be 5 days a week until September, I will have time to do more things that I enjoy like painting.

Wow, working seven days a week? That sounds really tiring. And with two children and degree classes too? I am envious of you. Part of me wishes that I was as busy as you, as it would make me feel as though I was doing more with my life apart from spend it on the internet. However with my degree work I find that if I'm tired I just can't settle to it, so I decided that I wouldn't take too much on until I graduate; at which point I hope to be able to survive entirely off my online earnings so I should be able to lead a busy and exciting life without having to worry about going to work at all.

It is usually from November until march that the company I work for requires the 7 days a week. In the summer, we just do five. I really felt the pressure this season with the classes and the kids. Sometimes it is best not to overload.
School keeps my mind focused. Thanks for responding.

Hi Gem and Jen. It is very interesting to read your correspondence. I too is working as a technical drawing professor at a university here in my country. MyLot is the first website that I engaged from and hope to stick to this site for many years to come. Here I found people who shares my other interests aside from being in my job five days a week. Having an income from the internet and working from home is still not so common in my country in fact people now are curious on me why I seldom go out of the house during weekends the way I did before. Well, I feel that it's time to quit and stay at home and do some gardening and online activity. Call centers are springing here but most people are working at night for their clients are in a different time zones that's a job they call 'graveyard shift'. A half million jobs and $12 billion in revenue in 2010 were generated overtaking India by 20%. Maybe this is the reason why working from home is not so common. I wish you good luck Gem on your endeavors and Jen you too good luck on your classes. See you in other myLot discussions.

I'm kinda busy but i hope i can be even busier.. lol =D As long as i have time to idle around, i would think time is wasted.. haha =D I prefer to be working as and where i'm. Be it on my smartphone, or at home while watching tv, i hope to be doing something else too. It's like multi tasking, whereby i feel more comfortable.. haha =D I dun like hvaing too much time on my hands as it bores me

Having too much time on my hands bores me, too. I don't like to be sitting with nothing to do, and I don't even like watching television because it just seems as though everything is far too "still" and boring for me. I always have my Macbook switched on, and my Blackberry, and usually have my iPod on playing music as well.
I don't like to sit at home and do nothing, as I am saving up to buy my first home at the moment, so if there's any way that I can make some money on the internet, I tend to do that rather than choosing to relax.

Hi. GemmaR. I am very busy at home too. I work inside of my home and I do so much while I am here. Plus on top of that, I have to clean up and do other chores. So, I am pretty busy right now. I have my oldest daughter that is at home with me. She is out of Head Start School for the summer vacation. My son is still in school. My youngest daughter is at home with me too. I feel as if I have two jobs already. Doing my online work and then taking care of my children.

What kinds of online work do you do, apart from MyLot? I'm always looking for other hints and tips from people who are earning online to see if there are any other bits and pieces that I could pick up to improve my income. I spend a lot of time doing work around the house as well. I don't like to sit still, so once I've finished my work for the day I will start to clean the house or do some ironing. I like to help my Mum out, as she refuses to take rent from me, so I just make sure that I help her around the house when I am here.

I am stuck in the house all of the time other than when i have to go to an appointment at the hospital, or simular.I come on here as we ll as look around other sites to keep myself amused.I find loads of different things that are very interesting on the internet and that really do pass the time away quickly.

It's a shame that you're stuck in your home so much, but you're right about the internet, there really is something there for everyone to pass the time. That's one of the things I like about it, and also that you can really pass the time and earn some money whilst you're doing it on a lot of the websites that are available today, too. I have to be careful not to pass too much time on the internet though, as it can literally fly by before you know where the day has gone.

I have an online job which requires me to go to the office daily, except for my days off though which doesn't regularly fall on a weekend. I also don't feel like going out during my off but if I have important things to attend to outside from home, I would have to leave the house then. It's not rally a busy life for me since my job online is really not stressful plus I have two days off per week which allows me to do other things aside from sitting and being in front of the monitor. My life isn't really active, although I wish I had an active life. there is more fun offline that's why I am trying to have a life away from computers and all. But since I am happy being here on mylot and being online in my facebook account, I think I have to balance offline and online activities then.

My online job isn't stressful either, however it is time consuming, hence the reason that I often spend most of my time on the internet rather than doing something else with my life. I don't mind spending the time online now though. I often think that in a few years when I've managed to save up some money I will be able to stop working and live off the money that I have worked for all these years. I will be able to enjoy my spare time then, knowing that I can do whatever I wish to do.

I work seven days per week, as well. I often think that I should probably restrict myself from working at the weekends because I often feel as though I don't get very much of a break, but then again I do like the money that I earn from it so I just carry on and work. I sometimes worry that I am getting too addicted to making money, to the point that I don't really have enough time to spend it and enjoy it, but deep down I know that when I have enough money in investments to take a back seat and enjoy watching them grow, I will be able to be happy and be able to do that.

Hi,GemmaR
My life is much busier than yours...as now my job is purchasing mobile phone products,,I have to go so many places everyday,on business...
sometime I have to work very late,even until 00:00...and I have to met different kinds of person...all day long phone time....so tired...

Your job sounds very interesting, but very hard work. I sometimes wish that I had a job that could mean that I was able to go to places without having to worry about how my investments or article views were going at home. But part of me knows that I wouldn't really be suited to that kind of work, as I enjoy what I do already without changing my routine. I have great respect for anyone who can do such a job, because I know that I wouldn't be able to do it myself.

I am self employed and my work is quite varied. Sometimes I am extremely busy and work 10-12 hours in a single day, but then I might have a week where I only work for one or two hours a day. For example last week I worked around 5 hours a day, but next week have no work at all on Monday or tuesday, and only 2-3 hours a day the rest of the week.
When I have a quiet week with work I spend my free time on a few websites where I can earn a little extra money online.
@GemmaR (8517)
•
14 May 11
I know what you mean about being self employed. I like the variety really, as it means that I am able to choose my own working hours to suit me and my needs at the time rather than having to choose them to suit my employer or manager. I am now so used to working for myself that I don't actually think that I would be able to go back to working for anyone else again. Hopefully I won't need to, as I like to think that I have sorted myself out in a good, varied and more to the point well paid daily routine.

I've been working and at the same time looking for work in line with my interest. It's really hard to look for a job that you like. Often, you'll find those that often elicits the reaction "yeah this will do." Well this is true unless you enjoy being enslaved by others by yelling at you and giving you stupid orders like they're a resident of a retirement home.

I have done that many times with my jobs. I often think I'll just take a job because it's there, and not because I think I'd particularly like it once I started. I have been treated badly in many of the jobs that I have done in the past, and I think everyone has to be careful that they don't stand for more than they have to at work. Just because somebody is your boss doesn't mean that they then have the right to treat you like dirt.

As of the present, I am not that busy. Perhaps next month and in the succeding months, I will have a hectic schedule. The reason behind this is because I am currently working and I am planning to enroll for my graduate studies. I pray that I will be able to manage my time well. Definitely, I will still find time to relax and rejuvenate myself then.
@GemmaR (8517)

Oh yes we should never underestimate how important it is to relax and take some time out for ourselves. Every other month I like to go on a spa day with my friend and we just sit, relax and enjoy our day with nothing else to do apart from let our worries slide away from us. If we never took this time to relax, we would all eventually go mad, and that certainly isn't good for our health.

Todayi am not busy and tomorrow it will be sunday but now a days i remains busy because after my office i go with net and i am a huge fan of net like a A.C. And every time i think about net and my email id so i dont have time. What should i do to rest but actually i dont want to take rest. Working and business is a part of my life and i enjoy it every time so why should i take rest. Today is second saturday and tomorrow will be sunday then i will be busy with my family and with my laptop . It is natural we all are human beings so we dont want rest.
@GemmaR (8517)

I agree that as a general rule human beings don't like to rest. When I am sitting and relaxing I am constantly thinking about what I could be doing to either earn money or to clean up the house. I don't like doing anything which isn't productive such as sitting doing nothing or using social networking websites for anything other than promoting my articles. I always make sure that I spend a lot of time with my family though, as it is thanks to them that I am able to spend so much time online devoted to my business. Without their support, I would be nothing.

People always say that your student days are the best of your life, but unfortunately many people don't believe it until you're too late. You're lucky that you've realised this now and that you're able to appreciate this time when you have it. I think my school days were the best of my life, except I didn't realise this at the time so therefore didn't make the most out of them, which I really should have done I suppose. But there's no point having regrets about the past. All that I can do now is keep my fingers crossed and look forward to the future.

BUSY - Being Under Satan's Yoke. You can never have the words busy if you know how to handle situations properly. What you need is to have time management for yourself. Even if you have plenty of work to be done and accomplished, you can do it, if it will be done in the proper time with GOD.
@GemmaR (8517)
•
14 May 11
I certainly agree with you that time management is one of the most important skills that you can possess. If we knew how to manage our time a little better, we wouldn't be bothered about being busy because we would know that we were able to fit everything in to our daily lives without having to worry about not having any time left for ourselves at the end of the day.

It's not as though I don't see anyone, though. I have my friends round for dinner a lot, and work out in my garden, so I don't spend 24/7 indoors or anything, just don't go out for dinner or shopping until the weekend. That being said, I take holidays a lot so I suppose I'm not quite as much of a recluse as this thread is making out!

Though I do try and make money online, it is not why I stay inside all day. I like my tv shows too. I should be writing. But my main reason for staying home is that I don't want to spend money. We have none to spare so I don't venture outside my home.
Today my daughter just HAD to have the "Never Say Never" Justin Bieber DVD which came out today. We went out and bought it for $15.00. I came home $91+ poorer. We bought 2 copies (one for her friend's birthday present), and some munchies and I bought a dress and a tank top to go under it since I don't have one that matches. Oh, and two t-shirts for my daughter. I just can't go into a store and get one thing.
THAT is why I stay home.

I would love to be able to make my own gifts but unfortunately I've never really been "crafty" enough to be able to do it. And I wouldn't have the time to do it either, really. I am always envious of those who can, though, as the presents which I love the most at Christmas are those that have had some thought put into them, particularly the ones that have been made at home.

I work online at home, not from choice but necessity. I take breaks to put some laundry in, sit outside for a few minutes or do brief chores but mostly I'm right here. Days can go by without my leaving the house or speaking to another person face to face. It doesn't bother me, I'm a solitary person at heart and am very happy being along.
Now that I'm older I like a less active life. I don't like to be busy and on the run all the time.

I think I'm similar to you really. I don't get lonely, and tend to prefer my own company a lot of the time. Many of my friends have wondered whether I'm agraphobic but I honestly don't think this is the case as I can (and do) go out when I have the time. It's just a question of how often I manage to find the time, really.

I earn online so that I can better myself. I spend a lot of time every day online just to earn a few cents so that I can save it up and get things I need so that I can find a job offline. Seems complicated and useless but trust me it's very much needed. In any case, I don't usually leave the house but once a month, so I've been in zombie mode for quite some time.

For me I enjoy being alone and creating. Don't get me wrong I do have friends and family. However, my internet business is my baby. That I have worked very hard for and the joy of being successful makes it ok for me to work alot. Some may say I am a workaholic but we can't please everyone can we? Whenever, I am not online my joys are walking outside or taking a long drive and visiting. People are usually happy to see me when they do lol. I suppose that does show that I am not as social as I once was but that is ok too. For once I am so very happy and motivated in life. Its good to be your own boss and work when you want.
