The question is... why do I ever watch this kind of television show that I can not certainly understand the language. Yes folks, I have lived for a short while in a foreign country where most television shows present on cable TV are in their native language. A fun experience though to just imagine on yourself what they might be saying as regards to the scene. I just imagine that the character might said this things or that things.... Yes, there are no English dubs and subtitle. But the TV series, especially the drama are worth watching a while. There are 2 English channels, but being a lady I was, I am not a fan of sports and science fiction to watch. So, to bore out of boredom, I just go along with what's on television and some stuff in surfing the internet. I am also glad that I brought along my Ipod to accompany me, though my PSP would be rather a good companion. But anyway... life is good and at least the drama show of other country in their native language. People really of different countries are indeed have their own accents and the sounds of voice. I can't imagine that in their native language, a big muscular man might sound like a boy...or even sounds like a soft manly voice. Oh well, how about you? ever experience watching non subtitled TV series or dramas? Have you ever tried to finish such show? Yes... it is quite funny indeed...

I can never watch TV in another language without subtitle. I tried once and I got extremely bored of it.

Hi melcaden: When I was studying French, I used to watch TV5 and also I have listened RFI (Radio France Internationale). I usually watched the news and it was a really nice experience that has helped me a lot to improved my languaje. You should try to learn this other languaje. Learning new languajes is a good way to know more things about a different culture and it's also fun.

I watch many films with subtitles, but not without. I find it too difficult to follow foreign language shows without subtitles. What's the point? Unless you are learning the language. I see no point in watching these shows unless they have subtitles that I can follow.

Hi. melcaden0916. There is an channel that speaks into Spanish that is on our list as cable channels. I have seen some of the actual movies and these movies have spoken in English too. So, it was really strange for me to understand the Spanish language with these movies. I am used to watching English related movies only.

That would have been really a challenge to understand something!! Nice try.
I personally on TV only watch shows in Spanish (my native language) or a few movies in English that have Spanish subtitles so I can understand. While I can read and write English somewhat well, I'm not so good at earing English (and a total disaster at speaking it). I prefer to Spanish or subtitles while I can.
But have once experienced what you say. I was trying to download the old series "The silverhawnks", and trying to find the Latin version I've watched when I was a kid. But I've managed to find a few episodes of the English version, and since I really was to watch that and have no patience to seek Taringa for a better version, I just sit down and watched the English version anyway. It's funny to earn all the typical phrases in another language, and managed to catch some words and dialogs, but great part of the history was lost to my understanding. Finally, I came across the Spanish version and watched it in full extent. And realized that I missed great part of the speech.
