I just played the Sim3, and one of my twin girls want to be a musician, her mother is a designer and can earn a lot of money, how about the salaries and how to work as the musician.

Personally, I don't mind any job really. (before every game crashes because of Late Night Glitch) I join the culinary career just because my sim's girlfriend is working there =P. As for the salaries, in The Sims 3, depending on your performance bar, it change everytimes. Basically, if you do a really good job over a long period of time, theorically, you can earn as much money as you want!! I'm not sure if that applied to musician or not though, as I never work as one myself. During the holiday, when i have a chance to re-install my game (again -.-....stupid late night bug), I might try that too, since i need to complete my guitar skill challenge. =)

It depends on what type of musician your girl wants to be. She can be a classical one and make good money with a lot of hard work.
She can work as a musician in a band playing other music and play road shows and make much less to start off. You can help promote her and help her go farther with her work.
But being a road work musician is a lot of work for less pay. You have to make it big to make good money.

Music is like other arts such as painting. Some people make money and some don't. My personal opinion is that one should have more than one career skill, in order to balance. I would of course encourage any child who wants to study art or music, but I would also be ready to accept the probability that she might change her mind.
