Hhahaah , if your children are enjoying it , then it's not child abuse at all. I'm sure you are a super cool mom , and once in awhile , Mommy needs a break from the mundane stuffs and just get on the lot with us all.
It's good to teach your children laundry at an early age , so they will learn the role of responsibility and also you do not have to worry like when you are not at home and how's the washing going to be done and all that.

If so , then your kids are certainly as efficient as you. They are lucky to have you as a mom , to be able to teach them about living independently in that sense.
Household chores , if done together as a family can be so much fun. Take care you...

Thanks for the compliment.
I tried to make my kids independent at early age, make them responsible because we never knew what tomorrow may brings .
I may die tomorrow or the next day and who's gonna take care of them.
So...better teach them everything which is necessary in this life.
Have a great weekend

hello zed,
Actually, when i came home from work my youngest already done cooking the rice and he is 12 years old.
I work at graveyard shift and comes home around 10-11am,so i don't have much time for cooking.
My youngest son since he's the one who comes home early from school (usually he's at home by 10:30am,he then cook rice ,so when i arrived home i only have to cook for the other dish (viand) or sometimes i just buy cooked viand/dish from food chains and then i can have my lunch with my youngest son before i go off to sleep.
Same thing with the laundry, they (my kids) had done some washing of colored clothes by Friday,so when it's my day off which is Saturday,i only have to wash the white clothes, still they're helping me with it and we can do house cleaning the rest of my day off.
It's just a matter of time schedule and management...we don't need servant/maid at home...and that makes my kids responsible and independent as well.
thanks for your response and have a good day always

The sooner the better! I do the laundry at our home...we don't give them to a laundry shop. My kids help me put them out to dry and bring them back in when the household help isn't around. But I do the rest of the stuff.
I've never had to do laundry myself when I was younger and besides an occasional 'fun laundry day' when we were in India, I've never had to do my own laundry till I was 18 and in a college hostel. But I've always had to iron my own clothes since I was 10. If I didn't iron my uniform on time, I was made to wear the crumpled one to school. My dad's point was that since mom did the laundry, the least I could do was my own ironing and folding the clothes.

Even though I have two sons, I think they need to learn to be independent. My husband and his family are of a different mindset and are totally against making boys do 'work'. They even balk when my older son washes his own plate. So I've reached a compromise on that front. When we are visiting in-laws my son doesn't have to do it...at other times he does. He is fine by it and I'm out of confrontations. I'm sick and tired of the arguing and putting my point across.
And yes, I'm a tad TOO meticulous when it comes to EVERYTHING...lol

That i wonder why...there is nothing wrong for boys to do some household chores eh.
Here in my country, men who do their laundry, wash dishes and clean the house (having a well organized pad) is one of the best guy for girls...and their mom's to be proud of having a son who knows how to do those household chores.
Not to mention cooking...oh my..men who can cook delicious menu are family's pride...not a girl, because women/girls are already known for cooking and household experts nah!
That's why i am very proud of my second son who can cook simple dishes at his age 15,he even woos and gained applause from his teachers when he cooks for them.
Anyway, they are your kids, you have all the right to teach them household chores..and it is for their own good and welfare.

hello SV,
Yes dear,the sooner the better.
I want my kids to be independent at early age,coz i might be living for a longer time.
I want them to learn about life and living and not all idle and fun all the time.
I want to die,and have peace knowing that they can live by themselves without me.
My eldest and second son knows how to iron their clothes too,i still have to teach the youngest one for this.
Now i can guess you are also meticulous when it comes to clothes (washing and ironing)
have a great weekend

hi! happy monday!
i remember when we were kids, my younger brother and i were doing most of the laundry when my other siblings were off in the university or living elsewhere. man, there were still a lot of clothes as we could only do them on weekends because we were so busy with school, school/community orgs and i was helping my parents in their work in the factory. it was no fun. my back often hurt from a full day of laundry. but my brother and i spent it with lots of music mags and singing duets and our favorite songs. so we tried to make it enjoyable still.
i do my own laundry now and everything. but when i'm busy or on a travel, somebody else does it for the family. hehe
i don't have kids yet but i think that when kids hit puberty they should at least learn to have a bit of responsibility around the house and be self-reliant. it's another way towards being independent.

Well, in this era of modern technology and where children could operate the computer at an early age, it's no wonder if they could be taught how to operate the washing machine too. Since it involves water, that makes it more an attractive chore for them.

Hi... I have never been married, so don't have kids... I stay alone and I hate to wash... But you know, at one stage, I used to enjoy it... That was when I was a kid... Mom would not let me do that coz she would think that I would catch cold by being in water for long time... My method was simple... I'd fill in the big tub, then I'd let the cloths in and I would follow the cloths too... LOL... It was fun... Not anymore.. .I wouldn't wash even if they paid me for that... Work at office is enough to get me tired... ;)...
Thanks...

Oh yes, the small kids are more prone to catching cold n stuff... My Mom tried to teach me washing at the age of 15.. But hey, by then, I was a grown up boy and hated the womanly task... ... So I could never learn it... Still, today, if I need to do washing i.e. if it is a MUST, then I can handle that...
There are not many good laundries here... I am gonna change my flat soon... Thanks a lot!!!

hello mr_pearl,
Yes,when my kids are smaller i don't let them stay with water for long also afraid that they might catch colds.
But now,i have them do the laundry, and i teach them how to wash clothes as early as 10 years old.
well, since you already tired from office work, you can send all the laundry to shops, good thing that there is laundry shops to do that work for you.
have a great day always

Hi. jaiho2009. Oh, don't worry! I will not report you for child abuse. I will however, report you for teaching your children life term values that will make them be more responsible in life though! You are doing a great thing by allowing your children to take upon the responsibility of washing clothes. My husband washed our clothing at the laundromat. I would like to have a washing machine and a dryer in my home. I would be glad to wash our clothing, instead of him always washing it.

Hello SIs,
I think you are cool on this one, you're kids have early volunteered to do laundry for you.I remember when i was only in highschool that i wanted to do laundry, because my parents didn't really allowed me to do laundry but they allowed me to mop, broom and wash dishes. but lately, i've been allowed to do manual laundry, but only my clothes

It can be fun, doing laundry, but that's if you don't have to do all the time and every day! I don't remember having fun doing laundry when I was a kid, and right now I have to do four loads every day and night they don't think it's fun although it's good exercise!

My kids are teenagers and I don't think that doing their own laundry is fun for them. I think they started doing their own laundry when they were 13 and 15 years old. I was going back to work and decided they needed to help more around the house. I still do mine and my husband's laundry.

my kids do love helping me with the laundry but then they are still too young to really help, 6 and 4 and 1..i just let them mess for awhile and then stop them because i am afraid the soap is harmful for their skin. oh well maybe when they are 10 they could really help me..seriously,. but for now i will let them enjoy their childhood...
dont worry no one will report you for child abuse. those are happy smiling faces.

hello jazel,
Your kids are too small for those chores my friend.
You can teach them how to organize their things at that age.
I teach my kids to put things back from it's place when they aged 2 or earlier than that.
When they were toddler,i always tell them to put back where they'd got their toys,in that manner that will always practice being organized and don't keep messing up their toys.
Have a great day and i am sure you can make your kids responsible too
