I recently bought a bunch of CFL bulbs and it seems there are tradeoffs to using these CFLs.
I found I had to use different sized ones in different fixtures, and I've heard in some settings like bathrooms they don't fair as well due to moisture and don't like being turned and off.
What are your experiences using CFL bulbs?

I hate CFL bulbs. The light is not comfortable and I read that it can keep one from sleeping because it has the bright daylight spectrum that tells our brain that it's not night time when we turn them on.
I bought three when all the fuss started, and haven't had any break yet, but if they do, you have to remember that they're very dangerous and need to be cleaned up while wearing a mask. No children or older people should be around them at all if they break because of the mercury content. You're not supposed to dispose of them in the trash for that reason.
They still don't make the right size for some of my lamps, which is okay with me. I have an excuse not to use them.

You cannot use them in a bathroom if you have enclosed fixtures and even down in the basement, there are a couple of fixutres that I cannot use them. And of course, in a tri light they are out. It also depends on what kind you buy. I am not just talking about size, but the light. I buy the warm light and the cool light, but if you just buy the generic kind they are too harsh. I used to start my plants in the house, and that is when we had the flourescent light and I had to get the specific growth light, and I suppose that those are more like sunlight outside and would of course be better.

Honestly, I don't have any negative comments to tell about CFL lamps. I would rather say it produces good quality light in spite being very energy efficient. Also, true is that it's got a large lifetime. It is more eco-friendly as well

I have also substituted all the bulbs with CFL lamps and it is helping to save electricity bills. I think CFL lamps can bring lots of light to the rooms and brings less energy. I think it is good to use CFL bulbs for other bulbs.

Overall, I have had a mixed experience with CFLs. Some have had to be replaced after a few months. Some others have done really well.

I both like and dislike about CFL bulbs. Because while night they will produce enough light but while reading it is very difficult to read for a long time. I have started reading by 7 PM under that CFL bulb and after half an hour my eyes were burning means i was feeling like that. Then i realize that these lights are not that much of good while reading the books.
