Hey,Miss! Why do you have to lose weight?

China

I'm not fat,so I don't have to manage to lose weight. As most of males, being too fat is not convenient to act,and it can easily cause some serious desease. So many men have to do more exercise to lose weight. But as all I know,it seems that some of females do many things to lose weight for her shape to catch more attention from males! They usuallly eat one or two fruits instead of meals,or leave out two meals a day! Do you always do so?

You're not fat?? Well, I AM. And I've tried lots of diet plans too BUT none of them succeeded. Grapefruit diet, banana diet, apple diet, no-rice diet. Well, I think one of them (grapefruit diet) BUT I didn't continue it anymore because it affects my stomachs acidity. So now, I started doing a 15-minute workout. Um, not actually a total body workout, just some sit-ups and weight lifting. Actually, losing weight will be a difficult task for me because I am hypothyroid (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothyroidism). Before, I have a normal weight, and now, I am OVERWEIGHT. And being that is very frustrating too. So now, I keep on searching some good diet plans to help me loose weight.

Do you do a lot of walking along with your workout? Right now, walking is pretty much the only thing I am able to do since I am going through chemo and it is hard for me to do any other kind of exercise. Are you FEELING unhealthy or just carrying around a little more weight than you would like? Is it a lot or just a little over what you would like to be? I wouldn't worry too much if you are able to walk a mile without losing your breath.

Walking along with my workout? Um, NO. I just do sit-ups at home, some warm-ups, then weight lifting. But I do some long walks, about 10 minutes everyday. That is when I'm going to the office. I do feel unhealthy because I'm already overweight according to my BMI(body mass index) AND I sometimes lose my breath while walking like I was super tired. I was chubby before but I think just right kind of fat and at normal weight. But now...

Hi,there!I think you'd better listen to Daeckardt and try walking for more than half an hour. One evening when I was walking with my wife,we met a woman who lives in the same town. She is older than my wife, and she tole my wife that she had kept walking quickly 5 or 6 kilometers both in the morning and evening, about half a year later, her fat belly became small. But don't forget to drink soup before dinner. You can try it.Good luck!

Although I have worried about my weight at times, I don't starve myself (at least not intentionally). Right now, I tend to eat less, but that is common in people going through chemotherapy. When I was 200 lbs, I did worry about it a lot more, but after my first cancer operation, I went down to 180. I am now down to under 160 (8 years after first cancer operation), but a lot of that was from eating more healthfully, especially during the years I was teaching in China. I do usually try to eat as much as I can tolerate daily even when I don't feel well. This has kept me from losing any weight and that keeps the doctor happy. Once I am done with treatment, I will try to do more in order to lose a few pounds, but I don't worry about my shape. I have never tried to "catch the attention of males" (or anyone else for that matter).

I see so many fat people walking around town it is embarrassing to me. I am nowhere near as fat as those people are and I am now happy with my weight even though there has been some gain because of the steroids they give me to keep me from having reactions to chemo. I have had people in the past tell me I'm just fine the way I am so now I don't bother worrying about it, but when I was younger, people always gave me a hard time about my appearance. Have a great weekend!!!

Though I want to gain weight, but I don't like becoming too fat.Hehe,I hope I won't offend you,on TV I often see that many of the people from the USA are so fat.Of course the number of the fat Chinese has increased a lot. Yes,gaining too much weight really make the doctors happy. And a doctor has told me that once you get too fat,it's so hard to lose weight,so I don't worry about my thinness as long as I feel well. Oh,if you have a great shape, the appeal will naturally be very good.LOL

The way to lose weight is not to skip meals and such but to each a healthy diet. Eat five or six small snack type meals and drink alot of water. Fruit and vegetables and not fatty stuff. More walking and keep moving. Don't starve yourself and expect to lose.

I always make sure I'm eating at least 3 meals and 2 snacks because my body is precious and I can't torture it, making it suffer with those crash diets. But, the thing is that when I loose weight it's because my heart tells me that it's the right thing to do. It's not so much as being fat or not having that swim suit body it's more along the lines of being healthy. Making sure that you're cholesterol isn't too high or your blood pressure isn't too high or too low.

I think everybody should see it that way, just because you're skinny doesn't mean that you are healthy. People assume that being a size 1 or 2 is the right look just because the models are that body type.

I don't do that, maybe for some female figure conscious. i don't want to get hungry and let my digestive system suffer just because i am catching up some figure that would please men. As long as i am healthy and my husband says i'm sexy i don't care if i eat a lot...

Never again my friend. I finally listened to my son and 3 years ago, though I was not fat, I was a terrible roller coaster dieter and at times use to starve to loose some weight. I could easily loose weight but not keep what I wanted off for too long. So I started to exercise at home five days a week for an hour on my bike, supplemented all sugared colas for lots of water, began to eat 3 - 4 meals a day, sensibly and in four months my metabolism raised so high that I lost a total of 70 pounds. I still exercise only but 30mins 3 days a week for cardio now because I cannot get any skinnier and still drink lots of water and 3 - 4 meals a day is a must. I will from time to time eat some not so great meals but can do so because of my continual maintaining of my high metabolism. Have been very successful now for 3 years. Consistency and change in eating habits is a must. I never thought it was possible and thought if I ate more then once a day I would get fat and doing all mentioned above worked for me.

Oh,what you experienced is doing proper exercise, drinking enough water and eating 3-4 meals a day to maitain a high metabolism,it can sensibly help us loose weight.I think I'd better tell my friend to try your weight-losing method in case she has to eat an apple as a meal.

Yes, we have to lose weight if we are over weighted. For me, I am in the standard range for medium size as a Chinese. We need to maintain a good weight so that we are healthier, happier, more impressive and more confident. For those who need to lose their weight, they must make up their mind to lose weight. Then only they can make it successfully. There are many methods among the people to lose their weight. From my understanding, some people tried to fast to lose their weight. Without eating for a long period, I don't think it is a healthy method. Consuming the available pills or herbal in the market to lose the weight, is a very dangerous and unwise attempt. There were many cases in my neighboring country, Singapore. By doing so, we are taking a risk to hurt ourselves. Some of them lost their kidneys and lives. If I need to lose my weight, I prefer to eat as normal with moderate foods and do more exercise. This is good to maintain sufficient nutrition to our body but without exceeding our daily need.

I can see you are very right. We must maintain a proper weight to keep fit and health. And if we are overweighted,we must lose weight to avoid the diseases concerned. But we should not put aside the health to lose weight,we should do so by eating healthy food and doing enough exercise.

I don't have any problems with losing weight but i did have a problem with gaining weight. I bought expensive milk from GNC that didn't work at all. Bought some pills so that i can have a good appetite and eat a lot to gain weight but it didn't work. Even if i was pregnant with my son i still was skinny and in fact was under weight. I just have a fast metabolism. It was only about 4 years ago when I started gaining weight and i found out how to do that and that is to eat 5 or 6 times a day at exactly the same time daily. I gained a kilogram a week until i reached my desired weight. Now i did that not because I wanted to attract men but because I want to feel good about myself, to have more confidence and to easily find a dress that perfectly fits.

I have three meals a day and my appetite is not very good,so I only eat 1 bowl or so;I don't touch any between-meal nibbles, too;I don't sleep well.I think all those lead to my thinness. Here two of my friends have experienced that eating several meals a day can help us gain weight,I think I'll try it,I hope it'll work to me.

If you want to gain weight, you must have a good appetite or eat more times a day.I use to be a thin girl until I eat one more time brfore going to bed every night. That's useful.

Why want to do it for men? Isn't our own health more important? I have never been on a diet before. I eat whatever I like, and luckily I am not fat, hehe! I only take 3 meals per day, so no supper for me. If you want to keep in shape, exercise is the best way. I don't believe in all those diet pills or diet coffee or whatever. Those are from people who want to make money out of you.

Hi,Jlyn10!It's really good news for you to eat what you love but never get overweight. I want to gain weight a little, but I always fail for my bad sleeping and less eating.Yes,diet stuff isn't good to the health,I never believe in it. Hello,Yookosinme!I agree with you for the four methods of keeping health and in shape. But quite a few people didn't make it because they haven't kept on doing those things.

Being a member of the feminine community, I can say that we do get obsessed in our quest for an "awesome" figure. It is our nature to want to always look good in the eyes of others. I had subjected myself to diet because of "health" issues. At the past, I am not too conscious with what I eat..I just pig in whenever there is food! LOL Kidding aside, as we all grow older we tend to develop certain health issues. And the only way to address that is to modify our lifestyle- eat healthy foods and proper diet. For me losing weight is not so much because of VAIN reasons mainly. I need to take care of my weight because I am not getting any younger and I don't wanna wake up one day in regret because I fail to take care of my body. Getting ill is mainly the result of us not taking of ourselves. That's my take on this issue. Have a nice day!

I should say it's female's nature to keep themselves in good shape. Yes,overeating always brings you overweight. Quit a little disease comes after overweight, the older we get,the more we must pay attention to our health. Hehe,it's very lucky for you not to receive anorexia.Have fun!
• Philippines
25 May 11
Oh no no no! I wouldn't, didn't and WILL NOT go to that kind of extreme. I just eat moderately nowadays because of health reasons. I don't want to get ill, having high blood pressure or whatever because I don't watch what I eat. Making myself starve or puking after eating is a no no for me. Besides, anorexia is illness in itself.

Hi,friend first I'm not a Miss..^^but my girlfriend now is on diet... she usually doesn't have supper,,like what you said,,she ate some fruit instead of it... but I'm worried about her health...I told her that if it's time to eat, then eat...if you eat much, then do some exercise...you put on weight in this way, then it's OK....The most important thing is healthy, isn't it...

I never agree with that. There must be some other ways to keep her fit, just ask some more other people around. Here you can tell her:Each meal first dringking the soup, then eating the dish,at last having rice. Can she do that?I'm sure the rice must be scarcely edible.LOL

Im not a girl but I am a gym buff so here is my point of view. You are correct, being overweight does have its complication and it is usually an indicator of some diseases. This alone is a reason for you to be active and to loose weight. Aesthetics, some women use their figure to get attention and to get the man of their dreams. Although their motivation is not for health , they are becoming fit due to their actions. Loosing weight or becoming fit should is always a matter of choice. Should be fit to have curves or should you be fit to be healthy. Lastly , not all men go for sexy looking women. There are those that want their ladies to have some plumpness. Beauty is relative and you shouldn't be forced to loose weight because it is the norm. Just my two cents.
• China
30 May 11
I'm thin and I'm rather healthy, but I want to gain a little weight. You can have any motivation to keep you fit,but it's not worthy ignoring health. Any choices must depend on the health. Both men's going for sexy looking women and women's going for good shapes are normal, but either of them that never ignoring the health is unnormal.

Single ladies like to be slim to be attractive to guys. Since they would want to have a relationship with guys, they'll try to look slim-sexy which majority of men like about women. Another, for me, it gives me confident when I am slim 'cause my sisters are. I'm becoming the shortest amongst my sisters and so being short, I would like to be slim inorder to compliment my height.
