Our weather is so weird in the UK, it really is. Not enough rain down south and loads of it up north. There seems to be a split with the temperatures too. The highest the temperature got today was around 14 degrees C with a cold wind.
Ever since I went on about how gorgeous the weather has been (in April!) it's gone downhill! It has been sunny today but the wind is extremely cold and I'm back to my Winter Woolies! In fact, I failed to wear my longline cardigan the other day walking to the hairdressers and I was FREEZING but didn't have enough time to come back home, pick it up and go back out again. In fact, I went into Town after the hairdressers to buy a book gift card for my brother's birthday, that is soon upon us, otherwise I would've been home within about 45 minutes or so.
I've not warmed up since and that was two days ago!
How I wish we had a warmer climate. I do realise there are many of you who want a COOLER climate but, believe me, wearing Winter Woolies when it's nearly June wasn't what I had in mind at this time of year.
How about you? Is it too cold or too hot where you are? What are your plans for the weekend, anything outdoors?
We'd freeze to death if we had a picnic!

Same here and although it does get really hot here for the summer. We are still in winter gear here. The sun is shining finally today but still in the 40's.
Worst is that our apartment is so cold and I saw still freezing. No summer shorts or flip flops yet. I play softball on Wednesday's and this last one was so cold I could not wait for my turn to bat and run, being a big team I never warmed up.
A bit of Spring would be nice.

Is it unusual for it to be so cold in May? I notice you live in Chicago and it has its extremes doesn't it?
I know what you mean though..it just needs to warm up a BIT, we're not fussy are we?

That seems to be the story all over. I was trying to find shorts to work out in, but have decided on long pants still.

Same here, we're having sh*tty weather. We have some rain and on the southshore its flooded and has been since May 6th. They said that today the water would go up even hire. Not sure why as its not raining!! Some say that water dams or reservoirs are being emptied and thats why theres so much flooding.....of course nobody is acknowledging this!! So whole towns are under water and will be for a while.
Another part of Canada has had fire and a whole town was burnt to the ground. Trees are still standing, so not sure what our governments are doing lately. Seems they are playing with some new toys and cant quite control them.!!!
Our pool is ready but its way too old for a swim. Its 78F around 25C here now.
Cheer up, I know its no fun but you could be flooded or not be able to go where you live to see if your house is burnt to the ground.
PS: I dont mind wearing woollies lol....I like winter clothes, big sweaters and corduroy pants!! (trousers in the UK) I feel all snuggly then HA!!
Dont you worry, soon it'll be SO hot, we'll be complaining about it like crazy!

I was being a bit sarcastic about 17 degrees being a heatwave, to be honest. Down south it's been a lot drier than up here. For such a small country our weather can be really diverse!

It may get hot there but it won't here lol.
At least the wind is about to die down a bit tomorrow and the temperature will reach a heady 17 degrees C on Wednesday.
Woohoo, heatwave on its way.
Haha!

its been so hot here it is hard to BREATH - I sure enjoyed my stay in Kansas because it was so much cooler than it is here! Granted, it did get warm a few afternoons, but the mornings were lovely!
Wish I could ship some of this heat to you in exchange for some of your cool!

Awww! I like it warm but not too hot so I wouldn't be able to stay in your hometown for very long. Kansas sounds good though.

I am also in the UK and i will say that it is very warm, I am in East Anglia and they do keep speaking of rain, we could do with some rain, as it is getting really airless at the moment. There are a few bbqs going on, so you know how hot it is.It seems that one moment the sun is out and then it hides behind the clouds.I just want rain to clear the air abit.

Yes, I had heard that in the East of England it's very dry. I hope you get rain very soon as you're right, it does clear the air.

I think that unusually hot weather the UK had in April was in fact summer. You May (get it?) have to wait until September now before we get our Indian Summer. I have ventured out today, but the wind blew me inside out and I am just recovering now after finding out what goes back where.

Haha! I know what you mean. It's been really windy this month and it should've been last month..all very strange. I noticed we have a stong winds warning for Monday for 70mph gusts, so you best stay indoors!

Don't worry about me. Even on a calm, still day I am troubled by wind.

The weather is a bit off here this year as well. We had a couple of days that were around 100F, but then we dropped and had 30's at night and did not get over 50s in the day time. The first time I visited the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it was July 4 weekend, which says Hot Weather to me, but I had to go buy a long flannel nighty. We are having spring like weather now. If it stays dry tomorrow we will have to mow.

My favorite sort of weather is dry and warm with lots of sunshine. I am happy if it is hot. I don't like it when the wind get up and blows so very strongly. I don't like it when it is rainy and my disabled son's wheelchair doesn't have a rain cover. When he and my daughter were in a Phil and Ted's it had a double raincover. It even had a sunshade for sunny days. I do like his wheelchair though and hope for fine weather.
I am happy with a constant hot and can put up with a constant cold. What does me in is having it hot one day then cold the next. Change like weather upsets how I feel. I like in the south west part of England. If it is spring it could be like summer or winter. Today down here is sunny but windy. Yesterday I took my disabled son to hospital and then carried on to a garden center. Today I have been out shopping for food and cleaning my daughter's bedroom. I have been out into my garden a few times. I long for some sunny and warm days.

I love the sun too but I'm not happy when it's hot lol. My ideal temperature is around 20 - 22 degrees C, no warmer than that. Poor John was so unhappy in Madrid (it had a heatwave in May when we visited in 2005 to see Real Madrid play) that his forehead got really pink in the intense heat. If you hadn't already noticed, he's a redhead and HATES the sun. I, on the other hand, love it BUT I can't sunbathe anymore..I get bored and far too hot and bothered. I don't mind it windy as long as it's a warm wind, which doesn't happen very often in Cumbria!
If someone were to pay for us to go to one of the hotels shown below I'd be a very happy woman.

Think the weather here in Australia is just as strange. we are not even into winter for a week yet and it's been freezing. But it was quite nice today, but you never know what to wear if you are going to be out for several hours.
Until a couple of weeks ago we had just so much rain, everything seems to be crazy here too

When I went out without my long cardigan on the other day I was PRAYING that it wouldn't rain. Fortunately, it didn't so I think I've got away with not wearing it. On another day I would wear it and be red hot.

I wish I had the power to send a bit of the weather from here and perhaps to get some of yours. It is about 40 deg. C here that is 104 F. Opressive at its best and I work at a furnace. Trapped we are in our evironment, aren't we?

Yes, that's true. I'd love a holiday as the weather is rubbish here at the moment, although the sun is trying to make an appearance as I type this. I bought a plant earlier and it's in my raised flower bed. It's a mini Dahlia with cute yellow flowers on it and it's cheered me up no end. It seems to like its new home!

The weather in the states just getting weird every year. On Monday through Wednesday, we had very cold day from morning til night. Now, just yesterday, which is Friday, we are getting warm again from the chilly weather. We all of the sudden jump up to 85 to 91 degrees in Fahrenheit. Kind of weird, don't you think. All of sudden cold, and all of the sudden hot.

That's the kind of weather I can't stand. You don't know what to wear for a start and I feel for you having to put up with such extremes in temperature.

Don't feel to bad, it's been horrible weather here in NYC this past month. May is almost over and it didn't warm up yet. Well, maybe a day here and there. Today though is damp, rainy and chilly. It goes right through your bones. The high today was supposed to be 60 degrees but it felt like 40. We'll see what happened tomorrow.

Funny you should say that because there was a report from New York on telly yesterday and I said to John, "It doesn't look very warm there!"
Hope it warms up soon.

Here in Detroit the weather is improving nowadays. Nowadays highest temperature is 70 deg. F +. Today we have good sun shine and I could walk without sweaters. I know some parts of the world are cold most part of the year and some parts of the world are hot most part of the year. Hope you are having happy week end.

So pleased the weather in Detroit has improved.

The weather's changing everywhere, unfortunately.
It was cold and rainy most of the week until mid-afternoon yesterday, when the sun came out. It is sunny again today, and almost bordering on hot.
