Surviving in a no electricity place.

Later this morning I woke up with no electricity. So, no internet connection nor water for our source of water is from the electric pump. It took 3 hours for us to wait until it comes back. We wasn't able to do the laundry nor to cook for our breakfast. Huh! What kind of life would we have without a current and water? How does those ancient people survived without it? I just can't imagine.

I'm with you I can't imagine living without electricity either. However, the ancient people really didn't know any different. It's a little like before we had the internet we didn't appreciate how convenient it would be to us and how we wouldn't want to be without it. I am glad your outage was only temporary :)

Ancient people are used to it. They never use any electricity before but there sure is water for them drink for the water supply before are very clean even without the use of electricity to purify it. As for our generation now, we are not used to living without electricity and clean water that is why it will be very difficult to live the way people before are living.

Hi. christine888. You know, I have always wondered what life would have been really like to not have electricity and water. I think that it would be very difficult. I have always wondered how ancient people were able to have none of these necessities. Being that it is so hot right now, I wonder how they could manager being in all of this heat. I wonder this constantly about people that were living in the late 1800s and early 1900s too. I don't see how they could manage. Especially, when they had to wear all of the clothing like petticoats on them. How awful! I even wonder how did they manage without having hot water too. I mean, I need hot water to wash off in, and cold water just won't do all of the time. We are very grateful and blessed to be able to have all of our necessities that we could never do without.

It's so much of an inconvenience if these things happen, especially now that we are dependent on these services. In our community, we had experienced years without electricity. Electricity was just provided in the late 80s. How did we survive? Well, thanks to batteries, kerosine lamps and candles . These were necessities during those years without electricity. Having electricity is convenient but then, it's still possible to live without it as well . Water is another story. It should always be availabe. For me personally, I can live without electricity but not without water.

There was a time last year when the whole metro was in an entire blackout. Only those with generators had current. Unfortunately for us, our source or water is also from an electric pump, so my roommate and I were thinking that if the blackout lasts the entire night, we won't be having water to bathe in by the morning. And so, we searched our area for a hotel, and all hotels were fully booked! Seems like everyone had thought what we had thought. Well, we thought that we could survive without electricity. We just need water to use. So, we head to the grocery and we bought 8 pieces of 5-gallon water! (Well we would use them for bathing - imagine, bathing in purified water!) Fortunately or unfortunately, after we bought all those water, the lights came on again. So, we had drinking water supply for a long time. For us who're used with these amenities, it seems impossible. But, our forefathers have survived it. And if we are forced to live without them, we'll be able to survive, I think.

Having had the amenities we have become accustomed. I am sure if forced to be completely without we would learn to survive. In the past they did not know what it was like to have what we have so they cannot say they were without. I know now I would be so crushed without the what I can call luxuries. lol
