I studied abroad in Oxford, UK last semester at the University of Oxford, New College. What was your experience studying abroad? Anyone else go to England? How did you cope with being back in your home country after you studied in a different location with a different culture. I had some friends experience reverse culture shock. I've been back for a month and my friends are really missing Oxford. I had a great time, but I don't really miss it. I love being back at home. What was your experience like?

I've studied in both the US and China before. It was really an experience. Both experiences I've had made me realize that we study/learn quite differently in my home country -- somehow. I didn't really experience culture shock, just maybe that things are taught differently in school which wasn't really a problem. I studied a short term course in the US and didn't get to bond with my classmates much. In China though, I met people who've become my real good friends now. I love studying abroad. If I weren't too old for it and if I didn't need to work, I would do it again. I like the feeling of living in a strange place, discovering whatever is there to discover, meeting new people and just start afresh. I can also be a loner at times, so it's nice for me to have my "me" time every now and then, which is easier when you're away from everyone and everything.

England is my home country and I did my degree in Wales. In my second year of study I went over to the Netherlands for one semester. It began in September and ended in December. I liked the student house I lived in. I enjoyed cycling around on my bike that I had there. I found the lessons interesting and made lots of friends. I went to see the students at some of the teaching practices with their tutor. Just before I came back home we had a Christmas party and it was sad leaving. I liked going back home for Christmas and New year. Then I was extra busy back at university. I had missed some units of study but still had end of year exams in all of them. I had to borrow friends class notes to revise.

Hi everyone. I am from India and we people rearly go outside the country to study. But in India if someone go outside of his state to study it becomes a very good exeprience because in India culture varies from state to state. And in India language differ from every 10KM.
I am originally from the state called Assam and the language we speak is Assamese. I went outside of my state to study law. The state where I study is Maharastra and the name of the place is Pune. Pune is situated just near to Mumbai which is a well known place of India. The language speak is call "marathi" in pune is very different from my own language and I hardly understand so we need to speak Hindi to communicate with everyone which is our national language.
I was studing Law out there for Five Years and my experience was great cause for the first time I was away from my home and do every thing with my own decission. Me and friends use to visit the nearest hill station just near to Pune i.e. Lonavala and it was very cool place. But it is real that no better place is home cause the life style and fooding does not match. And ofcourse how could one forgot his mom cooking

Where are you originally from? I am in the UK, and have only studied here. I am hoping to travel abroad soon though so I can study to be an "english as a foreign language" teacher. I hate the UK. Cant wait to get away from it.
