If you have the NSO copy of your Birth Certificate from your original/municipal registrar copy and it is still got problem, maybe because it is expired. I heard that the NSO copies of Birth Certificates expires every months. You may try to get another NSO copy of your Birth Certificate. My cousin who works in a postal office and who helps me get my passport said that they recognize the time you get your NSO copy through the color of the paper. Try to compare the NSO birth certificate of others from you. You will notice that there are differences on the color of the paper. My mother got irritated when she learned of that that she even said that maybe they are just raising funds that is why they put time validity for NSO certificates. As for my case, I was able to pass through the stages of getting the passport even though I used my NSO copy of my birth certificate that has been taken more than a year ago. Maybe it is because I applied for passport through a an agency.

Of course it is higher than going there personally. I paid P2500. In my case, I think it is worth it cause if I am the one to process it, it will take me the same money for the transportation and food cause I am from Bulacan. It is also tiring to fall in line in different offices to have my passport.

Through an agency. How much did you pay for that agency to settle or get your passport?

You need to secure an original copy from the municipality where you are originally registered and also request the municipality to forward your birth certificate to the NSO office. I guess it only takes 3- 5 days depending where you were born. Then, you can go back to NSO and apply for an NSO birth certificate. You need to be patient with this, this is for your own good anyway, they are just trying to fix things and wants to their job without having problem. As we know, some people can use other's birth certificate right?

It needs to have the BAR Codes below the page, if you got your NSO from a NSO office you should be able to view the bar codes below the page.

Just as long as it's the original copy that you will be submitting, then it should be good to go. I have sent my requirements to DFA and I never had issues since I gave them the original copy, the one I got from NSO. I have to get a new original copy of my birth certificate from NSO since DFA never gave back the one that I have submitted to them.

Security paper has fibers, colors, and tiny watermarks of NSO all over the paper. NSO issued birth certificate has bar code, registration number, and signature of the NSO registrar. And yes, this copy has a shelf life. Some schools even ask for NSO birth certificates that are issued not more than 1 year ago. If you don't have a new (uhm... unexpired)one, don't panic. It's pretty easy to get a new copy nowadays.

It means the birth certificate is not a photocopy or not in an ordinary paper. Your birth certificate should be in an official NSO paper, and it usually bears a serial number if I am not mistaken. Usually it is colored green, I had mine last January in green colored NSO paper, but I do not know if they changed the color for this year. Don't worry too much. If you get a copy of your birth certificate in NSO itself, there's no need to worry.

All I know is that if it is issued by the National Statistics Office of our country, then that's good to go. If it's only issued by the civil registrar where you were born, then you have to request from the office of the NSO to send you a copy of your document.
