Yesterday mom was so miserable because she couldn't get her bladder to work and release it's contents. The nurse told her to go home and drink as much as she could stand and maybe it'll force her bladder to work then come back at 4:30 and if her bladder didn't work then, they'd have to catherize her again. She drank two cups of coffee, a half a glass of water and a nutritional drink but it wouldn't work. She went all day long and couldn't go to the bathroom and was getting really miserable. Then it was time for her to return to her doctor. Once she got there, dad pulled up to the door and as mom got out of the car and reached for her bag, her bladder let loose and it went all over her. It filled her diaper and all over her clothes! YAY!!!! Now I'm not cheering that it got all over her but that her bladder finally got to working.... Thank God she had another set of clothes to change into and didn't have to be catherized again! Yay!! Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts!! God heard every one of them!!

I have sympathy for your momma. Once when my hubby had surgery, his bladder wouldn't work neither. Poor guy I made him drink and drink. When we got to the doc and they put a cath in him, he had over a quart of fluid in him. His bladder still didn't work right, had to have a cath for the weekend. After that it still took some time for it to work right. So happy it all worked out. Tell mamma she is very welcome, anytime she needs extra prayers we are all glad to provide them. She is important to all of us too.

Oh gosh, the poor guy! I can only guess he was a bear to deal with too that weekend but who can blame him? I certainly couldn't. Glad it worked out in the end though. Thanks for caring for my mom. Although we've had a rough time a few times in our lives, she's made a huge turn around and is treating me MUCH MUCH better now and it's all due to you and the others who told me to back off which I did and it seemed to have woke her up in a big way. Thank God! But now I have a different problem. I'll tell you about it later when I have more time but it's still hell but in another sense. I'm just happy that my parents and I are on the right track and only wish my husband and my parents could get on it too but they won't.

Oh Polly dear, you're so comical! I was at my mom's when I got your response and read it to her in which she laughed too. She's got a sense of humor too so it's ok or I wouldn't have told her. She and I both agree, the power of prayer is an awesome thing and she thanks you and everyone else for your prayers!

Awwww thanks Jo! We're really happy too especially mom. She said after she got home she couldn't stay off the toilet because of all she drank was still coming out. LOL I think the weight of the liquids in her bladder made it work like it should. Today I slept a little this afternoon because I was so tired and I think it was due to the stress of it all. I'm ok now! lol Love and hugs to you too!

It can be miserable sometimes knowing someone is in pain, and might have to have a procedure to help them feel better. When something like this happens, even if it was not in the way expected that can be Great news, and Yes God did answer some prayers. Hope everything is still going well on that end, and always remember no matter what happens, God is in control.

For some reason, I didn't get your response in my email! I'm sorry to be so late in answering! You are right, God IS in control. It was Him that helped my mother when her bladder wouldn't work like it should have although and even though it was bad timing, that didn't matter because her bladder is working again! Yay!! Right now both of my parents are sick with some sort of stomach virus. I am too for that matter but not as bad as I was and not as bad as they are now. Hubby went to the movies and afterwards I had him stop by the store and get some ginger ale, gatorade, lysol spray and a few other items that I knew they needed and take it to them. Dad fussed about it being so far of a trip till I told him that hubby was already in town so it wasn't like he drove from here to their house and besides that, they're my parents, I'd go to the moon for them. He laughed and told us both thank you and that he loved us. That's all I needed!

That's something to be happy for. It is a good thing your mother's bladder is now working. My gynecologist told me that mothers usually have problems in their bladder when they have aged. This is because the uterus after child-bearing days becomes flat thus pushing the bladder that cause some irritations to it.This is the case of my Mom and we are very thankful that her kidneys are not affected. When mom is sick, every body in the family is worried. Thanks heaven, your mom is now doing well.

Yeah it was a little embarrassing for her but she was SO relieved to be free of the load and pain from having to hold it for so long. She said she couldn't stay off the toilet because she had drank so much to get her bladder to work again and it seemed never ending. Poor mom but she's doing better today.

Thanks jillhill! Yeah, a very good thing but at a very bad time to happen but hey, in this case, the good far outweighed the bad!! She said since then, she hasn't been able to get off the toilet because she's peeing so much but at least it's working again. LOL

Oh, that is good news, but too bad it happened at that time..If only she could have waited until she got inside and tried to use the bathroom there, but all is well and that is what counts..

This is good news for sure. Catheters can be so off-putting in every sense of the word. I had to have one after surgery and remember the discomfort and worrying about a possible infection. God bless all of you.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that, she does have a bladder infection and was and still is on antibiotics. Mom had said she wished it didn't happen where it did but that it happened at all, she's happy and doesn't care. She's just so happy and relieved. Whew! lol May God bless you too!

Tell me about it! Wow, what a scare. But thankfully it's behind us now. Mom said that after that happened, she had to go to the bathroom more often then before because the fluids were still in her system making her have to go so much but she's happy that it works once again.

Cats, I am so glad to hear the news! It is the first time that a bunch of people are cheering and smiling over the fact that someone wet herself! Seriously though it is fantastic news. What a relief for your mum in more ways than one! She must have been feeling so uncomfortable, the poor thing. I am very glad she is feeling better now. Great news!

I didn't think of it that way but that IS true!! We're all so relieved, no doubt and especially mom. She was right uncomfortable there for a while and she said when she got home, she couldn't stay off the toilet because she drank so much that it was just pouring out of her but at least it's pouring....
