Well, we all obviously need them both, but the great thing about writing is that you can put a lot of thought into what you want to say and how you want to say it. You can also take back your words if you need to. If you write something and then decide you don't like it, just hit that backspace key and you're all set.
On the other hand if you speak words that you later regret, and sometimes we regret them right after we say them, you can't really take them back. You can never "unsay" what you just said.
The only disadvantage to the written word is that you can't convey the nuances of the spoken word. When you have face to face contact, the person can see your facial expressions and body language which so often adds to the meaning of what you say. The same words spoken with joking sarcasm could come across as downright mean as written words. I think this happens a lot here on MyLot.
So there are advantages and disadvantages to both, but for me, I prefer the written word to convey my most profound thoughts. That is, if I actually have any...

I think if you want to express how you feel you should write it down because it gives you time to carefully think about what you are going to say before you say it or someone reads it. And sometimes when you say something without writing it down it can sound stupid or it can hurt someones feelings because it didnt come out right and they misinterpreted what you were trying to say. so think before you speak or write it down and let someone read it. Thats what me and my boyfriend do. Since we both know that when we speak to each other we dont use the right tone or we use negative words we have started this diary where if I think of something that i want to say to him, but i know it is going to cause an arguement i write it down for him to read it and then he responds back. or we just text each other and respond like that. because sometimes our arguments have led to major breakups between us.

Yes! Regardless if you write or speak as long as you Say it,you will be better off. Believe me I Know what I'm talking about. it doesn't matter if you write a blog opposed to speaking to others in person. The message will reach them if they are open to it. Remember Every history making speech was written down at one point!

I prefer writing! In writing, you tend to focus and concentrate on what to write on your medium. When I write, my world closes between me and my pen+paper/laptop/pc.

i prefer writing to speaking. my thought process flows smoothly while i am writing. i can express myself eloquently better. writing keeps me sane when thighs around goes haywire or crazy. i become someone when i write. it keeps my imagination running free to put into writing what i want in life.

I love writing!
Writing my feelings is my expression. In speaking, I usually filter words to lessen the blow, but in writing, I write as I think. My words are just an endless flow of the river! I can write endlessly when I express my emotions. My thoughts are like bullets when I write! Sometimes it's hard to do so when you have so many pent-up feelings inside!
I am also not that confrontational so I prefer writing. In speaking, you have to face the person and that is sometimes scary for me.

Hello there.
Though trough speaking one can express their feelings directly to others, I would prefer writing as my main instrument. Although lately I've been expressing my thoughts and feelings through speaking but I still prefer writing.
Why? It is because when I'm writing about something, the speed of me thinking about it increases and the point of view I see about it become wider. Hence, I will make me realise something I haven't realise yet. And sometimes I will realise the mistake that I made.

I'm more comfortable in writing. I used to have a jounal wherein I write everything under the sun. Anything that I find interesting, my feelings, and experiences. i'm not quite good at expressing my feeling through talking/speaking. I feel a ittle embarassed if I confide my feelings to someone.

i prefer writing as a way to express myself.actually,i love writing diaries to set down my feelings everyday through just a few words or sentenses.i think you will be calmer when writing and you can come to realize something that you cannot when talking with others.besides, there will always be feelings i'd rather keep a secret than sharing with others.
